Symptom Checker
Step 4: Read and complete the decision guide to learn more about your symptoms.
Blood Magnesium Test
Your magnesium level is above normal, but it is not in a dangerous range.
When someone has a blood test for magnesium, the doctor often orders a test for creatinine and/or blood urea nitrogen (BUN), too. High levels of creatinine and BUN, along with high magnesium, indicate a kidney problem. This could be temporary (from dehydration, for example) or a sign of a longer-lasting kidney problem.
Call your doctor's office to discuss this test result.
