Symptom Checker

Step 4: Read and complete the decision guide to learn more about your symptoms.

Bleeding Between Menstrual Periods

You need to have an examination of your cervix, including a pap smear. Bleeding after sex can be a symptom of a polyp on your cervix, a benign growth. It also can be a symptom of cervical cancer.

If no abnormalities are found on your cervix, your evaluation will also include a test of your thyroid function, since abnormal thyroid function can result in bleeding between periods.

Contact a health professional now to arrange urgent evaluation.
