Articaine / epinephrine Pregnancy Warnings
Articaine-epinephrine has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Animal studies have revealed evidence of fetal death and an increase in fetal skeletal variations, but these effects may have been attributable to the severe maternal toxicity. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Articaine-epinephrine should only be given during pregnancy when benefits outweigh risks.
Articaine / epinephrine Breastfeeding Warnings
There are no data on the excretion of articaine-epinephrine into human milk. Because many drugs are excreted in human milk, caution is recommended when articaine-epinephrine is administered to a nursing woman.
