What is iodine and potassium iodide?

Iodine and potassium iodide is used as a supplement to support the thyroid gland and to maintain healthy breast tissue.

It is not certain whether iodine and potassium iodide is effective in treating any medical condition. Medicinal use of this product has not been approved by the FDA. Iodine and potassium iodide should not be used in place of medication prescribed for you by your doctor.

Iodine and potassium iodide side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Call your doctor if you have swelling in your neck or throat or have stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. These could be signs that you are using too much iodine and potassium iodide.
