Cabenuva Good to Go are commercials advertised by ViiV Healthcare. As part of one commercial script, viewers hear that during treatment with Cabenuva (cabotegravir and rilpivirine) you are “good to go unscripted” and “good to go on a whim.” In another, a narrator states, “imagine being good to go without daily HIV pills, good to go off the grid, good to go nonstop.”

Cabenuva (cabotegravir and rilpivirine), the medication being advertised in these campaigns, is a long-acting HIV injection. It’s given monthly or every other month instead of daily HIV pills. Because of how infrequently you need a dose, the manufacturer of Cabenuva often advertises “every other month, and you’re good to go” on their website and educational materials.

What is Cabenuva?

Cabenuva contains two medications used to treat HIV-1 infection: cabotegravir and rilpivirine. It can be used in people 12 years and older who weigh at least 35 kg (77 lbs). It was first approved by the FDA in 2021.

Cabenuva is given as two injections into the muscle, but some people may start with oral medications (Vocabria, the brand name for cabotegravir, and Edurant, the brand name for rilpivirine) for 1 month to make sure they can tolerate it.
