How long does it take for Gamunex-C to work?
The time it takes for Gamunex-C (immune globulin) to work depends on the condition being treated:
- Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP): Some improvement may be seen within 3 weeks, but most people experience full effects within 6 weeks.
- Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP): Platelet counts can increase to more than 50 x10⁹/L within 7 days after treatment.
- Primary Immunodeficiency (PI): Gamunex-C provides immediate antibodies to help fight infections. Protection begins shortly after dosing, with ongoing doses needed every 1-4 weeks.
For CIDP, tracking symptoms daily and discussing muscle strength measurements with your healthcare provider can help assess effectiveness.
