Rinvoq (upadacitinib) generally stays in your system for around 2 or 3 days after you stop taking it. However, it can take even longer if you have liver or kidney problems, or if you are taking certain medications that interact with Rinvoq. Or, it could leave your system faster if you take it with medications that boost the proteins that help eliminate Rinvoq from your body.

What is the half-life of Rinvoq?

Rinvoq has an elimination half-life of 8 to 14 hours. A half-life is the amount of time it takes for a medication to reach 50% of the original concentration in your body. It typically takes a drug about 5 half-lives to be considered eliminated from the body.

How is Rinvoq eliminated from the body?

Rinvoq is metabolized in the liver and then eliminated through the urine and feces. Therefore, it could take longer to leave your system if you have liver or kidney problems.

Because Rinvoq is metabolized mainly by the CYP3A4 enzyme, it has the potential to interact with many different medications. These medications can make it faster or slower for Rinvoq to leave the body. Check with your doctor or pharmacist to make sure you are not taking medications that interact with Rinvoq.
