Can I drink alcohol while taking Entyvio?
There is not a known interaction between alcohol and Entyvio (vedolizumab). However, it is important to consult your doctor before consuming alcohol while on this medication.
Potential Risks of Alcohol with Entyvio
- Liver concerns: Entyvio can rarely cause liver problems, which may be worsened by alcohol consumption.
- Worsening IBD symptoms: Entyvio is used to treat Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, both types of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). While research is mixed, some studies suggest alcohol may trigger or worsen IBD symptoms.
Although there is no direct interaction between Entyvio and alcohol, drinking alcohol may still have negative effects, particularly on liver health and IBD symptoms. Always check with your doctor before consuming alcohol while on Entyvio.
