Drug Interactions between Prevacid NapraPAC and Timolide
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- Prevacid NapraPAC (lansoprazole/naproxen)
- Timolide (hydrochlorothiazide/timolol)
Interactions between your drugs
naproxen timolol
Applies to: Prevacid NapraPAC (lansoprazole / naproxen) and Timolide (hydrochlorothiazide / timolol)
If you use timolol for the treatment of high blood pressure, talk to your doctor before using it together with naproxen. Combining these medications may reduce the effects of timolol in lowering your blood pressure, especially if you use naproxen frequently or regularly (for example, to treat arthritis or chronic pain). You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
naproxen hydroCHLOROthiazide
Applies to: Prevacid NapraPAC (lansoprazole / naproxen) and Timolide (hydrochlorothiazide / timolol)
Before taking hydroCHLOROthiazide, tell your doctor if you also use naproxen. You may need dose adjustments or special tests in order to safely take both medications together. If you are receiving this combination drink plenty of water. Blood pressure and kidney function should be monitored as well. It is important that you tell your healthcare provider about all other medications that you are using including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using your medications without first talking to your doctor.
naproxen lansoprazole
Applies to: Prevacid NapraPAC (lansoprazole / naproxen) and Prevacid NapraPAC (lansoprazole / naproxen)
Talk to your doctor before using naproxen together with lansoprazole. Using these medications together may affect the enteric coating of naproxen, causing the medication to be released too early in the body. This can make naproxen less effective. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
timolol hydroCHLOROthiazide
Applies to: Timolide (hydrochlorothiazide / timolol) and Timolide (hydrochlorothiazide / timolol)
Using timolol and hydroCHLOROthiazide together may lower your blood pressure and slow your heart rate. This can cause dizziness, or feeling like you might pass out, weakness, fainting, fast or irregular heartbeats, or loss of blood glucose control. If you take both medications together, tell your doctor if you have any of these symptoms. You may need a dose adjustment or need your blood pressure checked more often to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
hydroCHLOROthiazide lansoprazole
Applies to: Timolide (hydrochlorothiazide / timolol) and Prevacid NapraPAC (lansoprazole / naproxen)
Chronic use of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors including lansoprazole can sometimes cause hypomagnesemia (low blood levels of magnesium), and the risk may be further increased when combined with other medications that also have this effect such as hydroCHLOROthiazide. In severe cases, hypomagnesemia can lead to irregular heart rhythm, palpitations, muscle spasm, tremor, and seizures. In children, abnormal heart rhythm may cause fatigue, upset stomach, dizziness, and lightheadedness. A dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by the doctor may be required to safely use both medications. If you are using an over-the-counter proton pump inhibitor medication such as Prilosec OTC, Zegerid OTC or Prevacid 24 HR, you should follow the directions on the package carefully. Do not use the medication more frequently or for a longer period than recommended on the label unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
naproxen food
Applies to: Prevacid NapraPAC (lansoprazole / naproxen)
Ask your doctor before using naproxen together with ethanol. Do not drink alcohol while taking naproxen. Alcohol can increase your risk of stomach bleeding caused by naproxen. Call your doctor at once if you have symptoms of bleeding in your stomach or intestines. This includes black, bloody, or tarry stools, or coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
timolol food
Applies to: Timolide (hydrochlorothiazide / timolol)
Timolol and ethanol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate. These side effects are most likely to be seen at the beginning of treatment, following a dose increase, or when treatment is restarted after an interruption. Let your doctor know if you develop these symptoms and they do not go away after a few days or they become troublesome. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you, and use caution when getting up from a sitting or lying position. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
hydroCHLOROthiazide food
Applies to: Timolide (hydrochlorothiazide / timolol)
HydroCHLOROthiazide and ethanol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
timolol food
Applies to: Timolide (hydrochlorothiazide / timolol)
Using timolol together with multivitamin with minerals may decrease the effects of timolol. Separate the administration times of timolol and multivitamin with minerals by at least 2 hours. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
