Applies to: Valtya 1 / 35 (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) and phenylbutazone
Using ethinyl estradiol together with phenylbutazone can alter the effects of ethinyl estradiol. Phenylbutazone can make birth control pills less effective, which may result in pregnancy. Before taking phenylbutazone, tell your doctor if you use birth control pills. If you are using oral contraceptives you should be advised of the risk of breakthrough bleeding and unintended pregnancy during phenylbutazone therapy. Alternative or additional methods of birth control should be used during and probably for at least one week after short-term and up to one month after long-term (greater than 4 weeks) phenylbutazone therapy. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
