Drug Interactions between esomeprazole and Xeljanz
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- esomeprazole
- Xeljanz (tofacitinib)
Interactions between your drugs
esomeprazole tofacitinib
Applies to: esomeprazole and Xeljanz (tofacitinib)
Esomeprazole alone may modestly increase the blood levels of tofacitinib. Usually this is not a problem unless you are also taking other medications that can interfere with the clearance of tofacitinib from your body. You may experience increased side effects such as low blood cell counts, anemia, serious infections, and elevated blood lipid levels. Contact your doctor if you develop symptoms such as paleness, fatigue, dizziness, fainting, fever, chills, diarrhea, sore throat, muscle aches, shortness of breath, blood in phlegm, weight loss, red or inflamed skin, body sores, and pain or burning during urination. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
esomeprazole food
Applies to: esomeprazole
Food may interfere with the absorption of esomeprazole. Esomeprazole should be taken at least one hour before meals and at the same time every day. When esomeprazole is given to patients receiving continuous enteral nutrition (tube feedings), the tube feeding should be interrupted for at least 1 hour before and 1 hour after the dose of esomeprazole. This will make it easier for your body to absorb the medication. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Therapeutic duplication warnings

Therapeutic duplication warnings are only returned when drugs within the same group exceed the recommended therapeutic duplication maximum.
