Eltrombopag and magnesium sulfate should not be taken orally at the same time. Products that contain aluminum, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc or other minerals may interfere with the absorption of eltrombopag into the bloodstream and reduce its effectiveness. You should take eltrombopag on an empty stomach at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after magnesium sulfate. Food may reduce the absorption and blood levels of eltrombopag. In addition, minerals such as aluminum, calcium, iron, magnesium, and zinc can also interfere with eltrombopag absorption into the bloodstream, which may make the medication less effective in treating your condition. You should take eltrombopag on an empty stomach one hour before or two hours after a meal. Eltrombopag should also be taken at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after products like antacids, mineral supplements, dairy products, and fortified juices. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions on how to take this or other medications you are prescribed. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
