The use of certain parenteral nutrition preparations should not be used in patients with hepatic coma or metabolic disorders involving impaired nitrogen utilization.
Parenteral nutrition solution (applies to parenteral nutrition solution) severe renal impairment
Major Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility. Applicable conditions: Renal Dysfunction
Some parenteral nutrition preparations are contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure. These contain aluminum that may be toxic for patients with impaired kidney function (including premature neonates), as it may accumulate causing central nervous system and bone toxicity. Tissue loading may occur at even lower rates of administration.
