Iloprost (applies to Ventavis) hypotension

Major Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility.

Iloprost should not be initiated in patients with systolic blood pressure below 85 mmHg. The risk of syncope in association with physical exertion can occur in pulmonary arterial hypertension and the occurrence may reflect a therapeutic gap or insufficient efficacy. The need to adjust dose or change therapy should be considered. It is recommended to monitor vital signs when initiating treatment with iloprost in patients at risk.

Moderate

Iloprost (applies to Ventavis) bronchospasm

Moderate Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility. Applicable conditions: Pulmonary Impairment

Iloprost can induce bronchospasm and may be more severe or frequent in patients with history of hyperreactive airways. Close monitoring is recommended when using iloprost in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, severe asthma, or with acute pulmonary infections.
