"It was okay... Positives were that I slept well without waking up in the night. Negatives were bitter taste in the mouth and it took a long time to work. I may or may not take it again. Not bad but not the best I've had. I prefer Temazepam."

"I would suggest that people combine zopiclone with a low dose of mirtazapine. You see, zopiclone gives you the bare minimum sleep to function, it doesn't allow you to go into a deep sleep. However, combine it with mirtazapine, and you find you fall into a sleep state. Ask your doctor if struggling. I have extremely bad insomnia, and if I don't sleep, dissociation and psychosis are just around the corner. I have BPD amongst other comorbid psych diagnoses and also a spinal cord injury, which all have created this problem. If you don't think it's great to couple it with 15 mg of mirtazapine to get that deep sleep, I can't see them moaning."

"Zopiclone was almost perfect for me and a positive experience overall. I tried 3.75mg one night but it didn't do the trick, so I went up to 7.5mg and that worked very well. I would get a solid night's sleep each time with no side effects whatsoever. I was falling asleep fine without Zopiclone (also taking Mirtazapine which helps with falling asleep), but I was waking up several times per night due to anxiety. Zopiclone ensured that I got a good night's rest. I didn't feel 'knocked out' at all. I was nervous taking it at first, as I am with any mental health medication, but this didn't prevent it from working well for me. The only downside is it eventually started to become less effective, even though I used it sparingly. I used maybe 20 doses over a period of about 3 months, but over the past couple of doses I was getting down to 5-6 hours per night. Better than nothing, but still not ideal."

"I have been taking Zopiclone 5 mg every night for 5 years. (I am a 75-year-old female.) I debated a long, long time whether to continue, as I know it is addictive and rebound insomnia is very severe when I stop taking it. My doctor says there is no evidence that it causes cognitive decline, which we all experience to some degree as we age. So far, my memory and capacity to process information are still very good. The only downside is that I used to take half (2.5 mg), but recently it has stopped working and I had to increase the dose. I feel great the next day if I get 6 hours of sleep or more, but sometimes I don't. It is definitely better than tossing and turning at night. I'd recommend it for retired people but not those who have to get up early for a full-time job."

"I only found this drug to help with sleep sometimes. I took it 1-4 times per month. I HATED the METALLIC gross taste and dry mouth that I would have for at least 24 hours after taking it. I even tried placing it in an empty capsule to see if that would help with the taste. It didn't help. Not everyone gets the metallic taste, and everyone is different in how it affects them. If this drug helped me sleep every time I took it, I may have been able to 'tolerate' that horrible taste for more than 24 hours. So I asked my doctor if I could try Ambien instead. Not only did it work most of the time, it also did not leave any bitter taste! So Ambien wins for me!"

"Had insomnia for 20 years on and off and taken zopiclone when I have had episodes of not sleeping. Usually have to take one 7.5 mg to be able to sleep. Occasionally, when it's been really bad, I have taken two 7.5 mg. They have always worked and always got me to sleep. More recently, I have had a long spell of not sleeping going on for several months and taking zopiclone doses ranging from 15 mg to 3.75 mg to manage my sleep, but with the prolonged continual use, I have started to suffer side effects, which are flu-like symptoms with muscle pain and a general feeling of shakiness if I exert myself. This medication definitely helps with sleep but is only a short-term treatment and will cause problems long term."

"Took 3.75 mg. Asleep within 60 mins, woke up after 6 h, but the next day felt like 2-3 hours of sleep - initially feeling energized with a crash around 4 h after waking. Metallic taste present but only noticeable when thinking about it. Felt severely impaired 6 h after waking until bedtime."

"I’ve been taking Zopiclone 7.5 mg for about eight years, but over the past year, I’ve noticed some concerning side effects. After taking the medication, I experience a foggy memory and often don’t remember any interactions I have or have a hard time recalling short-term memory. I’ve also been night eating without any awareness of it, which has caused weight gain. Additionally, it takes two or more hours for the medication to take effect."

"Started with half a pill (3.75 mg) 6 years ago. Worked well for two years, then increased to 7.5 mg, which worked for the next two years. Moved up to 11.25 mg two years ago, didn’t work. Tried 15 mg, didn’t work. Am now back to 7.5 mg of zopiclone, taken with a Percocet and sometimes 5 mg of melatonin. Works pretty well. Get 4 to 6 hours of sleep."

"This medication is incredible for insomnia. Been on it for 4 years, taking it once to twice per week, and I'm guaranteed 8 hours. My biggest trouble is falling asleep, and after an hour of taking it, I'm out like a light no matter what the time is. I would've done a lot worse in life had zopiclone not been in the picture - many exams, interviews, the works."

"I've been using Zopiclone (3.75) intermittently for several years now after some adverse reactions to lorazepam. More so lately because of problems with tinnitus. I generally do this for a couple of nights at most and then stop, though there have been occasions where I've used it for 10-14 nights. While it works well for me that night and I get at least 8 hours of sleep, I find that by midday, I'm feeling very fatigued. Also, after even two days of use, I've been finding that I have difficulty getting to sleep without it on the third night and am pretty wound up for the better part of the next day. It's great when the tinnitus gets so loud it interferes with sleep, but I'm beginning to question the value of that if I'm fatigued and stressed out after stopping taking it. I will be talking to my doctor to see if there are alternatives."

"Take an hour or so before bed to stop my anxiety and restlessness. It’s been a godsend for me to be able to relax an hour or so before bed, then get about 7 hours of sleep. Sometimes wake briefly, but that’s normal, soon drop back off! I tried all sorts - mirtazapine, sertraline made me ill, buspirone, the list goes on, all made me feel worse. I was sleeping 2 hours, waking, and then sleeping 2. Some nights awake until 5 am! It was mental torture and made my anxiety go into overdrive! The sleep is making me stronger to cope mentally. No side effects, just seems to suit me."

"I found this medication extremely useful at calming my anxiety and panic attacks during the day and then went to bed at night as normal. I do not drive and would not recommend taking it during the day if you need to operate a car or machinery. Also, if taken during the day, it does not hinder your ability to sleep the next night if you do not take another. Slight metallic taste. Occasional headache the next day."

"After another 72-hour episode during a depressive dip where I was too hungry to sleep but found it impossible to eat, I decided I'd try zopiclone. The first time I took it was at the end of the 72-hour episode, 7.5mg. Despite having not slept or eaten in three days, I felt completely sober and alert, *until* I took the pill. It seemed to be the catalyst for psychotic symptoms. 30 minutes after taking it, I saw a corpse grow from my wall and my window silently shatter. I was panicking and attempting to text loved ones, who were scared but knew I had taken zopiclone. After an hour of psychosis, I slept like a baby for 8 hours and awoke feeling like a hundred bucks. I felt great. After that, I would only lose my memory of the 4 hours before and after taking it, no hallucinations again. Despite my reckless activity during the amnesia phase, the drug induces perfect, restful sleep."

"It can put you to sleep no matter how bad your insomnia is. If you're the type of person who can't even close their eyes together, you will sleep like a baby on zopiclone."

"I take 3.75 mg. I’ve been on this medication for nearly two years. It does work well, it’s just the awful taste. It leaves a bitter taste."

"I have been having sleep problems for years. Called it chronic or insomnia, I really don't know. 'Cause it may hit me anytime. When it comes, it may be days where I just can't get to sleep. Doxepin, Xanax, Trittico, hydroxide, lembroxant, and melatonin. Finally, I was introduced to Zopiclone. First few dosages were great. Within 1 to 2 hours, I was already rocking. I was able to sleep a good 7 to 8 hours, but a few days thereafter, it's not as effective 'cause I get up at 2 or 3 am and can't get back to sleep however hard I tried. The bitter taste of Zopiclone stays on the moment you pop it into your mouth till the next morning. The mouth and throat feel cracked and dry too."
