Vilazodone for Major Depressive Disorder "I’ve been through countless medications - I have anxiety, panic attacks, MDD. They all made me sick, more anxious, panic attacks that felt like heart attacks, have aggressive behavior, bouts of OCD, RLS, feel like I was walking in a fog, etc. Viibryd has been tolerable. I don’t feel as depressed and overwhelmed to the point of feeling paralyzed. Only side effect is vivid nightmares, and really not helping with my anxiety/panic attacks. As long as I am still prescribed my Xanax, my whole life feels so much better. The Xanax helps with the panic and anxiety, but the depression was always lingering and interfering with my day to day life, and Viibryd is taking care of that. Thank goodness I finally found a doctor that listens!!! I would much rather deal with nightmares than the deep dark depression I’ve been in for years."

Vilazodone for Major Depressive Disorder "Over the past 5 years, everyday was a struggle. I would wake up hoping everyday would be my last. I cannot even remember all of the antidepressants prescribed. Like almost all of the reviews, I too had diarrhea for about a week on Viibryd. However, I was coming out of my 'dark place' and continued taking as prescribed. I was given a starter pack that started with 10 mg for approximately 10 days, then increased to 20 mg per day, then 40 mg per day. After approximately 10 days, the diarrhea went away. Yes, I was feeling much better, out of the 'dark place,' and into a 'grey world.' My doctor then added Bupropion 150 mg per day. After 3 weeks of this combination, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Getting out of bed is no longer dreadful. I am motivated to actually get out of bed and the house. Because of the severity of my depression, I would be willing to endure almost any side effect(s). Thankfully, the only side effect I am currently experiencing is a desire to live."

Vilazodone for Depression "I have been taking Viibryd for 25 days and I love it. I can tell a big difference in my overall attitude. This medicine makes you feel back to 'normal' (the happy state before feeling overwhelmed with depression). I am a lot more motivated than I have been in the past and I have lost a little over 10 pounds. I am taking a 40 mg pill each day. I highly recommend this medicine to anyone. Obviously, talk to your doctor first. I hope this helps. Remember everyone is different, it may take a few medications before you find the right one. I hope this helps!"

Vilazodone for Depression "What's dangerous about reading reviews online is that people are much more inclined to go online and scream about a medicine when it doesn't work for them, while those who it works for blissfully embrace its effects and don't feel the need to go online and write a glowing review. For the past 8 months, I've increasingly found myself experiencing the latter, and I have to say that Viibryd has changed my life. I had tried numerous other SSRIs that all left me feeling like a zombie. I had wanted to go on one that had less chance of sexual side effects, so before this, I tried Luvox, which was awful. Viibryd has nearly eliminated my social and general anxiety with positive sexual effects. I highly recommend it to anyone."

Vilazodone for Depression "I have fought depression all my life - 60 years. I have tried pretty much every medicine available. My care provider put me on 40 mg Viibryd and 100 mg Lamotrigine. After about 6 weeks, I woke up and could face the day. I have the desire to live and no longer have to try to pull myself out of a deep pit every day."

Vilazodone for Depression "I was one of the unlucky ones, and experienced a ton of negative side effects from Viibryd: sleep paralysis, falls, insomnia, increased anxiety/panic, loss of concentration, a carnival of digestive effects, dizziness, loss of appetite, forgetfulness, etc. Each increase in dosage made the side effects worse. If I'd had a fraction of my usual judgment, I would have asked to be taken off of it after the first week. I'm currently tapering off, and for me, the withdrawal symptoms are totally preferable to the side effects. Viibryd is great for a lot of people, and that's awesome. If it is making you feel worse than when you started, stay in close contact with your doctor and do not hesitate to question whether you should stay on it."

Vilazodone for Major Depressive Disorder "I have taken 20 mg of Viibryd for 4 years and it has been the single best antidepressant I have ever taken. I have taken Zoloft, Prozac, Lexapro, Cymbalta, Wellbutrin, and Effexor. All of them caused major weight gain (especially Zoloft) and none of them continued to work after about 12-18 months. Viibryd saved my marriage; I am able to easily achieve orgasm. While the other medicines made me numb and interfered with my sleep, Viibryd has allowed me to feel, but also to cope. I am only writing this today because I may need to finally go up to 40 mg. But it worked like a charm for 4 years, even through incredibly intense, life-changing stressful events. This drug has been a lifesaver for me."

For Anxiety "On 40 mg of Viibryd now for about 3 months, for my anxiety. I almost can't even believe it, but depression is basically gone, as are GAD symptoms. Most impressively, my social anxiety is also basically gone from this medication. The quality of life I have received back is immeasurable."

Vilazodone for Depression "I have been on Viibryd for two weeks now (20 mg) for generalized anxiety and moderate depression, and I feel exceptionally better. I tapered off Lexapro about 2 years ago and was off antidepressants for the last couple of years. It was an emotional roller coaster every single day until I got on Viibryd. I experience some symptoms like dizziness and nausea/diarrhea, so I take it at night right before I go to sleep. I am a student athlete in college with an extremely busy schedule, and this medicine has helped keep me motivated. The feelings of hopelessness and emptiness are almost completely gone, and I feel like I can get through every day without the constant negative thoughts I was having."

Vilazodone for Depression "I've been on Viibryd for 4 days for Generalized Anxiety, Mild Depression (Dysthymia). Can tell a difference already. LOVE it! Best SSRI for my body so far. Tried Lexapro, but had gastrointestinal issues. Paxil was better than Lexapro, but not 'the one'. Only tried 1 dose of Cymbalta, and felt like I had the flu for 4 days (and I rarely get sick). So far, so good with this. NO side effects, but on the lowest dose (10 mg). My Dr. said this is a fairly new medicine, and it seems to be getting good reviews from many people. Clearly not all things work for all people, but my experience has been good!"

Vilazodone for Depression "I've taken Zoloft. Made me feel spacey and disconnected. Took Celexa and it pooped out on me, making me extremely drowsy and fatigued no matter what time of day I took it. Added Wellbutrin to combat the energy and motivational issues. Turned me into a bipolar irritable basket case. Stopped taking Wellbutrin after 3 weeks, titrating off Celexa, and starting Viibryd. It may be expensive. On day 2, the sexual dysfunction I experienced with all 3 other medicines had disappeared. Dare I say it, my libido was through the roof. Borderline nymphomaniac. And I have yet to feel the drowsiness that people are speaking of. Granted, it's now day 4 and I'm already taking it at night."

Vilazodone for Depression "I felt better right away on 10 mg. My problems were not overwhelming me anymore. I stopped obsessing. However, side effect was not being able to fall asleep or stay asleep. I am now up to the 20 mg dose. Still doing alright. Doctor prescribed Ambien. When I skip a day of Viibryd, anxiety and agitation comes back. I am in a bad marriage and am contemplating divorce after 43 years. No wonder that I have anxiety and felt like I was falling apart."

Vilazodone for Depression "I've been taking Viibryd for 3 weeks now, up to 40 mg, switched from Zoloft. I find that I have to take it at night to avoid being drowsy during the day, but every day around 7:00 p.m., I start getting what feels like little electric shocks throughout my body."

Vilazodone for Major Depressive Disorder "I’ve been on multiple meds over 20 years for depression that would work well, then eventually stopped helping. This medication has resolved my depression and anxiety. I had loose stools at first but it eventually stopped. No other side effects. I’m sorry to hear all of the side effects people are having. Each person has very individual responses to all meds and you won’t know until you try them. In the past, with different meds, I found if I waited a month, most side effects resolved. It’s been a lifesaver for me!"

Vilazodone for Depression "I had underlying anxiety - constantly wanting to hide in bed - random crying - high intensity job - mind wouldn't shut off. Told doctor - she said this had helped many clients - by my 2nd day on 1/4 of the largest pill size - I felt at ease and pretty carefree. Vilazodone for Depression "I'm a 70-year-old male, in excellent physical shape, and retired. The problem is depression and bipolar-2 condition, both of which have haunted me pretty much my entire life. In 1994, my depression became just unbearable, and I started on Prozac...it worked for a while...then it didn't...then we tried something else...then something else...you get the drift. My doctor and I decided to try Viibryd; this is day 10 and I'm taking 10 mg in the morning. This medicine is life-changing. Vilazodone for Depression "I began taking Viibryd in October of 2011, at the age of 37. I've had problems with Dysthymia and nervousness my entire adult life, but I started having panic attacks, depression, and insomnia. Within a week after beginning the 20mg dose, I came out of my funk, was able to sleep soundly throughout the night, and panic attacks were nonexistent. I recently had a traumatic experience involving my daughter which forced me to take a more structured job in an extremely hostile work environment. The panic attacks returned and I felt like I was slowly losing my grip on reality. Three days ago, my doctor increased my dose to 40mg daily and I feel fantastic. No more panic attacks, and I have an overwhelming sense of calm - almost euphoric feeling."

Vilazodone for Major Depressive Disorder "I have taken many antidepressants as an adult, and since I have been on this one, I have not been depressed. We all know what it feels like to not go on. I have no side effects. I feel healthy and normal. I wake up every day, no matter what struggles, and I have not felt 'down,' like depressing down, in over a year. I love it. I also take Klonopin for my anxiety on the side. I don't need as much though. Viibryd works wonders!"

For Anxiety "When I first got prescribed Viibryd, this was the first website I came across. I read a lot of the reviews but was surprised to see only a handful of reviews regarding anxiety and Viibryd. My anxiety started about 10 months before I started taking medications. I saw my doctor about my issues, she prescribed me Viibryd 10 mg. I was told to take it for at least 2 weeks, then consult her about my next steps. My first 2 weeks, I noticed very little change in my anxiety levels and got headaches approximately 3-4 hours after taking the pill and restless sleeps. After my 2 weeks had passed, I went back to the doctor and decided to up my dosage. I was then prescribed a Viibryd 20 mg dose, and again, the first 5-6 days, I noticed very little change while dealing with headaches and insomnia. But after about a week and a half into my 20 mg dose, I finally got that energized and calm feeling. I'm now 2 months in on my 20 mg dosage, and it has changed my life for the better."

Vilazodone for Depression "I take this for severe anxiety after a long trial and error process of different SSRIs (Celexa, Lexapro, Zoloft, etc). None of them seemed to work. My doc did some genetic testing and it came back with Viibryd as a match. Started out on 5mg, then 10mg, now on 20mg, and I finally feel like myself again - very little anxiety, no depersonalization/derealization (DPDR), no more panic attacks. DPDR and panic attacks were my main symptoms, and I was suffering severely. $10 with a coupon card. And I am forever thankful. This has changed my life. I’m a RN, and now I am able to function and enjoy life once again. Please don’t be ashamed to take something your body may desperately need. There is so much research on anxiety and other mental illnesses. There is no need to suffer in silence. Please go get help if needed and never be ashamed."
