"Got samples from the doctor. She said it was very expensive. So for now, started taking it for urinary control. About 3 days later, got a filled-up nose, coughing, 98.8 temp, but feel bad. Not sure because the pharmacist and the paper say you can get a cold or upper respiratory infection. So now, to make sure, it's recommended to get a COVID test. I have to pick up the home kit soon. Medicare B covers the cost."

"I have been taking Gemtesa for 3 months, and the medication has shown no noticeable improvement. Considering the expensive price of the med, it is surely not in my future. New medication should be effective and affordable!"

"I have taken Gemtesa for about six months and was very pleased with the results until about four months of using it. I began to have leakage again more frequently. I recently had surgery and did not use it while I was hospitalized for about two weeks. When I started taking Gemtesa again, it is working like a charm! Wondering if taking a break now and then might be a good idea."

"I was given a 6-week free sample of Gemtesa for my condition by my neurologist. After about 5 pills, in 5 days, my sense of urgency lessened, and I had no more accidents. After 6 weeks, I had no more panic urges and felt relief that my condition is totally disappeared."

"Senior on Medicare, therefore, insurance doesn't help with paying. Way too expensive. Works well for me, but just realized it may be causing my hot flashes, constant URI, and maybe my dry eye syndrome. Will stop and see if I am feeling better. If so, incontinence will be annoying but better than the other symptoms."

"Has not solved my leakage. Initially, it worked to reduce leakage, but after several months, it is not working as well. Very expensive for me, a senior. I will not get another refill because it’s costly and not working."

"Work great! I was wearing a number three Poise pad day and night, and now after taking Gemtesa, I am sometimes not wearing any pad during the day and a very light one at night. I am very, very happy with this medication."

"It did help with the frequency of not making it to the toilet, but my side effects are my hair falling out by the handfuls, and I will not take it anymore after today. I only discovered it after 3 weeks of usage."

"At half the 75 mg dose, I get quite good relief from incontinence accidents and urgency, being able to make it to the toilet during the day. However, trying to get improved relief by taking even a slightly higher dose of a few milligrams, I get bad side effects, such as trouble breathing and pressure in the chest, more frequent urination with high volumes, and dizziness with loss of balance. Since my insurance pays well for this expensive drug, I feel encouraged by the improvement to continue taking it and hope that I can remain on the low dose without needing to increase it for effectiveness."

"My urologist gave me some samples. I’ve used Ditropan, det, top... (?) Vesicare, and they don’t work anymore. Tried Botox, and now have a stimulator for my urge incontinence. I didn’t think it was as helpful at first, but after a week, I’m noticing I haven’t had any leaks and can ‘hold it’ for a little while. Wondering if it’s normal to take a week or so to work, but I’m going to ask my urologist for an RX. I thought I had a month's worth but seem to have misplaced the 4th bottle. Even if it only works for a short while, I’m hoping to get at least some control!"

"This drug has been more effective than any other drug I've taken for overactive bladder, but the copayment for a 30-day supply is so expensive I can't afford it. My urologist has given me samples, but I don't know if they will continue to do this. Not nearly as many side effects as other drugs I've taken."

"Works well, side effects are cold symptoms and a runny nose. It lasts 48 hours, so I reduced the frequency I take the pills. It is $700.00 with Medicare and Aetna PPO, so it is quite expensive. There is no generic."

"A life changer. I've been dealing with overactive bladder for 30+ years and have used every OAB med except for trospium and myrbetriq, haven't tried Botox. Some I can't take because of intolerable side effects, the others were effective for a few years, then stopped working for me. Most recently, Toviaz worked during the day, but I was still getting up at night and experiencing side effects. Plus, now that I'm in my 60s, the doctor wants to avoid anticholinergics because of memory issues associated with them. Gemtesa has given me a completely normal life and I sleep through the night for the first time in years. It's a wonder drug for me. Only downside is insurance coverage, it was covered for a year with no issues, but I am now going in circles with the primary insurance company regarding approval, living on samples. I am fortunate to have my own coverage and coverage through my husband. Between the two of them, it was covered except for a co-pay for the first year."

"Gemtesa has changed my life. I used to use the restroom every hour. Walking anywhere was the worst. I went through several large pads per day. Everywhere I went, I was scoping out where the next bathroom might be. I would have to go in nasty public restrooms, porta-potties, or ducking behind a tree; anything that was available. Plus, there were so many trigger foods: caffeine, chocolate, citrus, berries, the list goes on. It really got in the way of life. Since being on Gemtesa, I am free from all of that. I was able to go on a 10-day hike in Europe where I would go for several hours between bathrooms. I could hike 5 miles at a time before a bathroom break, and I didn't have to worry about how much fluid I was drinking. I don't worry about any of the previous trigger foods. The environmental impact is significant as well, since I am not going through all those pads every day. I have experienced no side effects, either. It really is a wonder drug."

"It was a total game changer for me. I mean, really. Was given a one-month supply of samples. However, finding out it's not covered and honestly can't afford over $1,500.00 for a 90-day supply left me sad. It really, really worked. It's only for the rich!"

"I was given a new RX for Gemtesa, but I can't afford $1,600 for a 90-day supply! Who can afford that? The company that makes it is not willing to give me a discount because I have Medicare, but that doesn't make sense because I don't have Medicare Part D. I have a federal health insurance plan that covers all my RX. Boo to Gemtesa. Don't bother with Gemtesa unless you can afford it. What a rip-off!"

"First week, it worked very well - no accidents. Second week, I was sick with an infected tooth - I could not hold the urine, and I had several accidents. Medicine did not have any detectable side effects."

"Urinary frequency and urgency are much reduced. I urinate 5 to 6 times at night and the same during the day. I have not experienced any unusual side effects that you listed. I wanted to continue taking the medication, but the price is expensive. I am due for a refill: $285.00 for 30 tabs, which is not covered by private insurance."

"So far so good. I have a few weeks' samples. After investigating the cost and what Medicare covers, though, I'm sad. Because of the cost, once the samples run out, I can't afford it. I don't qualify for the discounts or plans for help. It's sad and crazy."

"I have been taking Gemtesa for about a month now, and going from almost total loss of control of my bladder to not having to use anything other than mini pads is wonderful! This is undoubtedly the best OAB medication I have ever used. I just asked my urologist for a lifetime prescription. No side effects at this time."

"I have only been taking Gemtesa for two days and all I can say is Wow! I've been suffering from urge incontinence my whole life and finally said something to my doctor. Within 24 hours, I could see it was helping. I haven't tried yet, but I bet I could stop using pads now. This is awesome! It's so nice to stand up and not have to run to the bathroom!"

"During the day, I can go many hours without needing a bathroom break, but once I get into bed and stretch out, the problems start. Although I have been taking Gemtesa for over a year, and no matter whether I go to bed at 9, 10, or 11, the first urge is almost exactly at 11:30 pm. It can then be as often as every 30 minutes, but more likely every hour, hour and a half, sometimes right through the night, but sometimes urges stop around 4-5. I get VERY LITTLE SLEEP!!! I've tried taking the pill early in the day, at noon, but now take it around 7 pm. No time seems better than another. Gemtesa is very expensive, and I'm not sure it's really helping, but I'm afraid to stop taking it."

"I've dealt with an overactive bladder for my entire life and it's been HORRIBLE. Finding a bathroom was always a concern for me no matter where I was, and when 'sleeping' I'd have to get up 3-6 times a night to urinate. I tried every drug available going back to the 1980s to no avail and just gave up about 13 years ago because nothing helped. However, I recently had to see a urologist for an unrelated issue, and I asked if there were any new medications in the last 10 years or so to treat an overactive bladder. My doctor gave me samples of Gemtesa, and it is an answer to my prayers! IT WORKS!!! For the first time in my life, I can sleep through most of the night and usually only have to get up at most 2 times, but only once is more common and sometimes not at all until 6:00 or 7:00 AM. This medication has changed my life. Like all medicines, it comes with side effects which should NEVER be taken lightly. However, not sleeping is very damaging to one's health so I'll accept side effects."

"Been taking this for about a month and it’s working really well. I haven’t had any side effects except for slightly dry eyes, which just encourages me to drink more water, which I should be doing anyway. I’ve had OAB for decades, even wet the bed until I was 13. I never wanted to talk to a doctor because it was too embarrassing. But it got so bad that I was afraid to leave the house because I never got ANY warning and would have to cross my legs and hop to the bathroom. So I finally asked my doctor for something and was prescribed Gemtesa. I have Medicare along with supplementary Medicaid, and I don’t know who paid for it, but I only have like an $8 co-pay, thank God. I take it at night with a slice of bread and I’ve never had nausea or tiredness. I used to wake up in the morning and I wouldn’t feel any urge to urinate until I stood up, and then it would be an immediate dash to the bathroom."

"I would put this drug close to the miracle mark. I got immediate relief (day 1) and have had continued success for many months now. I have 'overactive bladder'. I take one pill per day. Occasionally I have to get up several times but most nights I can sleep 4 to 5 hours or more before having to relieve myself. I had tried virtually all of the 'treatments', including Mybetriq, which was pretty much a complete failure as were the other drugs. It is VERY expensive. Insurance covers part of the price but not all. I wish it were covered completely."
