For Depression "I can't believe the difference tramadol has made in lifting my mood. I began tramadol for body aches and realized the mood elevation that accompanied it. I take 3 50 mg tablets per day and have had no need to increase the amount. I feel motivated and have energy probably the way most non-depressed people do. I used to abuse alcohol and smoke excessively, but now have absolutely no desire to self-destruct. I am more successful and productive in my career, and I believe this pill has given me my life back."

For Pain "I have been prescribed Tramadol for pain 4 times. I have never felt any relief from pain while using it. I have told doctors this, yet they continue to prescribe it to me. It's cruel to prescribe a pain relief medication that I've said does nothing to help me. Tramadol simply gives me no relief."

For Pain "My doctor gave me tramadol after having 2 teeth extracted & it didn’t help one bit, it actually made my pain worse & made it throb harder than ever. It had the exact opposite effect on me & made me feel 100 times worse. No thank you! Doctors prescribe tramadol because they refuse to give out norcos that actually work! Get you to keep coming back, for 'pain relievers' that don’t work, just to keep adding up that doctor bill! Can’t just prescribe norcos & save both people time & save the patient money from trying rubbish that just does NOT work!"

Ultram (tramadol) for Pain "I have severe back pain and have been on everything. Nothing works better than Ultram. I still go to work and don't feel like I'm in a tunnel. I also have no problems with withdrawal symptoms when I stop taking them."

For Fibromyalgia "I have had fibromyalgia for my whole life. How I managed to have a full career and raise children, I only owe to eating Tylenol and aspirins like candy day and night over all those years. Of course, I was still in pain and couldn't sleep because the pain would keep me awake. My family physician doesn't even believe this disease exists. He was upset my rheumatologist prescribed Tramadol for the pain and told me to discontinue it. Tramadol 50 mg is the only reason I am pain-free most of each day. I finally feel like I have a life back. Doctors who have never experienced this type of chronic pain do not know what a godsend Tramadol is for chronic sufferers."

For Anxiety "I previously rated Tramadol for depression (miracle) and now it's time to rave about anxiety relief. I strongly believe psychiatrists are not paid to prescribe tramadol. They will tell you how addictive it is, all while prescribing you psych meds with tenfold side effects. I find the mechanism of how Tramadol works fascinating. I see no reason to shy away from 50mg daily. I find most people here forgetting to state how much they're taking. Tramadol is a game changer. It may not work for some people based on their liver enzymes (connected to ancestry and hereditary). But hey, you won't know till you've tried. A miracle medication with low addiction potential if you keep it at a low dose (50mg daily in my case)."

For Anxiety "I was prescribed Tramadol 50 mg for headaches and TMJ pain. However, the biggest difference this medication has made for me is the way it has helped my anxiety and depression. It is truly amazing, and a blessing. I have severe social anxiety, but I find now that I can talk to people and actually want to socialize. No other med has really ever helped me. I truly wish that doctors understood how this medication helps those of us with long-standing anxiety and depression, it's a miracle."

Ultram (tramadol) for Pain "I had a very serious seizure combining Ultram with Prozac, something which unfortunately many doctors are not aware of (like my brother, who is an ER doctor and disputed me that this was the cause until I steered him to the relevant literature, since I too am a scientist). However, I was also at fault for forgetting to tell my doctor that I was taking Prozac from my primary care doctor. I essentially was out for several minutes, severely bit my tongue, had a concussion from hitting the floor. I was very close to getting into the car to take my 5-year-old to preschool. So please, please, be very, very, careful when mixing prescription medicines."

For Anxiety "I've suffered from depression spells and mood disorders, but have had CHRONIC anxiety/panic attacks my whole life. I've taken a benzodiazepine for countless years, which worked well for some of these things but not all. Over the years, I tried many different supplement meds typically prescribed for these issues, but none worked or they had horrible side effects on me. So my doctor suggested Tramadol--I asked how this could even work (a pain medicine)? He explained it's an off-label use of the medication but has found it very successful in other similar psychiatric patients and how he researched and explained how it chemically works in the brain (which I didn't really understand)...but IT WORKS AMAZINGLY! I finally live a NORMAL and HAPPY life!"

For Chronic Pain "I'm an athlete who has several injuries as well as degenerative changes. I've been on Tramadol 50mg, 4x a day for several years. It works really well for me. Side effects are minimal, or at least I don't notice them. Hydrocodone constipated me terribly, but Tramadol doesn't at all. Lately, I am troubled immensely by hip pain and Tramadol isn't as effective for this. I've been complementing it with Ibuprofen (six 250mg tablets per day) and that combination works really well. Like many on this site, I'm frustrated with the new laws surrounding opiates for those of us who are responsible and take only the recommended doses, and have been for many years. It's really a challenge to get prescriptions filled, to travel state to state without first making sure I get my prescription filled so I won't run out while away. Stressful! Don't know what the answer is, but the government needs to get out of the middle of the patient/doctor relationship!!"

For Depression "I have been on EVERY antidepressant over 20 years. I was prescribed Tramadol for a toothache. Not much help on the pain, but within an hour, I felt hope, energy, and have been on the same 200mg for 4 years without any problems!!!"

For Back Pain "Please be careful while taking Tramadol as I became addicted to them! Wish I never took it. I was given Tramadol by my doctor after I was in a serious car accident which led to severe back pain. Yes, it did work and yes, I felt great on it, but I started to get dependent on it. As my back started to heal and I started to take less of them, I hated the way I felt - tired, dizzy, no energy, so I continued to increase the dose so I could feel normal. I was on them for 3 years and started to develop depression. I decided to come off them so I went “cold turkey” - not the right decision, but I was too embarrassed to tell the doctor I was addicted to them. It took me 16 days to come off them with the most horrendous withdrawal symptoms. I am over it now and feel so much better that I can get on with my life without the craving of Tramadol. I just want to share this to let people know, if you are on Tramadol, please be careful."

For Fibromyalgia "I've had fibromyalgia for 5 years, only formally diagnosed in January this year. So, I have suffered. I tried Pregabalin but couldn't tolerate it. I asked to try Tramadol and what a difference, they are a wonderful drug for fibro pain, to alleviate anxiety and lift your mood most probably because you don't feel overwhelmed with pain. I prefer to not take them if I feel I can cope well without to prevent dependency. I recommend you give them a try."

For Depression "I think there is a reason the government has made Tramadol a Category C drug...they want people in society to take it but everybody in society just wants to get high. Tramadol is the best DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, MILD PAIN MEDICINE EVER. This actually is better than everything without the high. If you actually wanna be a happy person without being high, this is it. 50 mg am - optional second until the next day. Forget the critics. I would say this is like Adderall, without the hunger side effects, lack of sleep, personality disorder, grumpiness, depression, etc. The best thing about it is the government is only selling it for $4 dollars. You don't even need health insurance."

For Depression "Have taken Tramadol for depression after being labeled treatment-resistant. I have tried all SSRIs, all SNRIs, and one tricyclic antidepressant and did not respond to any of them. Tramadol is the only medicine to bring depression relief. Scientific research at the University of Cincinnati supports this claim as Tramadol is thought to have SNRI properties and may even help OCD in some. Love it."

Ultram (tramadol) for Chronic Pain "I have been one of the many finding myself suffering severe chronic pain, fibromyalgia, cervical radiculopathy, severe osteoarthritis in all my joints, and 3 bulging discs. Stripped of all my pain meds and only allowed sporadic usage of Ultram. I went from 125mg fentanyl every 48 hours with Vicodin for breakthrough pain to one Ultram every 4 to 6 hours. I might as well be taking a baby aspirin every 4 to 6 hours."

For Depression "I was put on Tramadol for pain, and a funny thing happened. I noticed I felt more energy and overall well-being. I had felt a bit depressed over the years, and they tried a few meds, but none seemed to work. I had surgery and was given Tramadol. Once the pain was gone, I stopped it and noticed I fell back into my old slump. I was in therapy and tried everything. Years later, I went to Mexico for business and saw Tramadol in the pharmacy. I bought one bottle of 50mg capsules and said, 'Let's try this.' 50mg twice a day. Within 2 weeks, people were commenting I seemed like I was happier. It does not give me a high like hydrocodone and other opiate meds. They need to explore this and stop shooting it down as an antidepressant."

For Depression "It's by far the most efficient medication for my depression and social anxiety with negligible abuse potential and no side effects. The problem is my psychiatrist refuses to prescribe it to me and even threatened to sue my GP over prescribing it to me for depression. She would rather have me on expensive, inefficient stuff with tons of side effects because of big pharma lobbying and money she gets from it... Sick world we live in."

For Anxiety "Tramadol isn't too good for pain (although that's what it's indicated for), instead I find it to be a decent anxiolytic & antidepressant. To fully appreciate tramadol though you need to understand the medicine. The first 3 hours give a 'mental lift', cheerful and fear-free, then, after that, tramadol's opioid metabolite takes over - rendering one very calm and (often) sleepy. It's at this 3-4 hour 'second stage' where you can sleep quite well on tramadol. But again, to summarize, you need to take tramadol for a couple days straight to fully appreciate the way it behaves. An acquired taste."

Ultram (tramadol) for Pain "I have been using Ultram for about 2 months. I think this medicine works very well for pain; however, the withdrawal side effects for me have been bad. If I stop taking this medicine for two days, I experience cold sweats, hot flashes, can't sleep, my legs get restless at night. I find that I have to take the medicine without having pain just to feel like my normal self again. The restless legs are probably the worst part of the withdrawal symptoms. It does, however, work fairly well for pain if taken regularly."

For Anxiety "To cut a long story short, NOTHING ELSE HAS EVER WORKED AS QUICK AND AS EFFECTIVE AS THIS MEDICATION FOR ME PERSONALLY FOR SEVERE DEPRESSION AND OR LACK OF BRAIN ENERGY. I've tried at least 5 of the mainstream top draw Antidepressants. I hope and pray my GP doesn't take me off the 100 mgs a day for fear of addiction. When is the medical and pharmaceutical community going to wake up to the amazing healing power of tramadol..."

For Back Pain "Tramadol has made all the difference for me, living with chronic pain from spinal stenosis. I take 50 mg with gabapentin to sleep at night, another 50 mg when it wears off and I wake up in the wee hours of the morning, then 50 mg to get me up and going. Once I'm up and focused on work, I can usually get through the day without any more. Without it, I probably would not be able to sleep at night or work in the day. It doubles as an antidepressant, but for me pain and depression are so interconnected that it's hard to distinguish them."

For Depression "Weight loss: I lost 21 lbs in 4 months. Better mood = Less appetite = More exercise. Lost craving for carbs. Instead, crave protein. Hike and swim every other day. Sex drive went down, not to zero though, maybe from 8 to 3 (Male), but feeling so much better overall. Well-being without sex. Weird but possible. Once daily 50 mg. Welcome to the new me. This is the first antidepressant I ever took. In summary, feel happier and lost 21 lbs (from 221 to 200). More productive at work. Self-employed, lost money due to depression. Now much better, back to the rat race and loving it. By the way, Tramadol metabolizes better in some people based on ancestry, so I read. It works for me (Sicilian descent). Note: most doctors are reluctant to prescribe tramadol for depression."

For Depression "Been suffering with depression here and there since 12th grade. I am 44 now. In 2022, I lost my son and depression set in again. While being treated for pain with tramadol, I realized that I felt happier and my mood tremendously improved. I took to the internet for research and found out that tramadol works for depression. Tramadol has saved my life."

Ultram (tramadol) for Chronic Pain "Tramadol is a good medication that can take care of a wide range of pain. This medication is a great sub to addictive meds. A medication that only manages the pain and does not manage your mental state."
