For Urinary Frequency "I have taken tolterodine for quite a few years now, they have been very good at controlling my urgency although. They cause a dry mouth, nose lining and dry eyes at times. Before taking tolterodine I didn't snore and now I snore every time I fall asleep . Not very ladylike !!!!"

For Urinary Frequency "I’ve been on the meds for 6 days. Of course no relief since it takes 4 to 6 weeks. I did get dry mouth and constipation. This is because meds relax your bladder and intestinal muscles. You are supposed to drink 6 to 8 glasses of water a day to offset side effects. Defeats the purpose of meds:"

For Urinary Frequency "I have been on this med for a week now. The first couple days were horrible, headaches, fatigue and overall felt like a walking zombie, and on top of that the drug didn't kick in until three days in. Day 7 now and the drug has started working. I do not feel the overwhelming urge to pee myself during the day which is wonderful. But I have my first appointment since starting it now and I have to decide if the fatigue is worth it."

For Urinary Frequency "I’m so thankful for this medication. I had to pee all the time and the urge was unbearable. This medicine helped within a day or two and after a week, I feel totally normal. Amazing. Thank goodness for modern medicine!"

For Urinary Incontinence "switched from Ditropan to Detrol LA recently... I am a 44 yr old female.... Ditropan made me so sleepy I could not function and did not help my symptoms at all. Anyway but this Detrol has made every symptom I have a thousand times worse... I am waking up to urinate at least every hour at night and having to change my clothing constantly from increased incontinence and the urge to go is a lot stronger. Not to mention the fact that I am miserable from the dehydration it also has caused. I give up now on trying to find a medicine to help me lead a normal life. Ijust live with my issue like I was before seeking help."

Detrol LA (tolterodine) for Urinary Frequency "I used to wake up multiple times during the night and going to the restroom every two hours during the day. I started taking this and now I finally sleep ALL night and less frequently. I had no side effects. It really worked great for me."

For Urinary Frequency "I was diagnosed with overactive bladder early August and started 2mg dose for one week with no effect then up to 4mg for the last 11 days & I can’t say I feel any difference. Sadly, I still have this constant urge to pee & really not sure if I actually need to pee or not. Pharmacists says the bladder remains functional & I should feel the « real » need to pee when required. Maybe I can’t fully empty my bladder? So should I keep taking the medication for the recommended full effect after 4 week or just stop?"

For Urinary Incontinence "I took Bethanochol for many years to combat dry mouth from other medications. Eventually it led to an issue with incontinence, so I discontinued. Several months passed, and the incontinence continued (apparently it becomes permanent in some cases). My doctor prescribed Detrol/Tolteradone, but after 3 months the only change is the awful side effects-extremely dry mouth/eyes/sinus/skin, headache, increased lethargy, irritability, mental processing impaired, etc. But barely noticeable improvement of the urgency/incontinence issue. Also, my disability income can't sustain the copay (if it worked it might be worth going without heat or something else). Hoping that I can discontinue without any added complications. Very disappointing."

Detrol LA (tolterodine) for Urinary Incontinence "I started a week ago and so far so good. I took this medication several years ago and had no problems. I had a bladder sling removed 5 months ago and because of the damage that has been done, I have to take medication. This is the second time medication I am trying."

For Urinary Frequency "I wake up every two hours at night to urinate. On the way to the bathroom I am unable to hold it in. Thank God for Depends. I'm afraid to not take the med, but have to find something else. My insurance co pay is $350.00 for a ninety day supply."

Detrol LA (tolterodine) for Urinary Frequency "I started taking Vesicare for my overactive bladder, but it has stopped being as effective as it was for the past several years. My doctor gave me a sample of Detrol LA 5 days ago, and I've had side effects. I have had a terrible headache, fatigue, and just felt awful. Finally figured out that it correlated to when I started on the Detrol LA. I've called and asked to switch to another medicine. I can't function this way."

For Urinary Incontinence "I have been on tolterodine for years and love it. Before, I had lost the "urge" and notice and would constantly wet my goes as my bladder released fully. Now, I get the "urge", but I had better hurry to the restroom."

For Urinary Frequency "I have been taking tolterodine for a few months and it has been life changing. Having a job where I can't visit the toilet at will meant that a sensitive bladder caused a lot of worry and distress. I feel I now have my life back...I can go for long walks, don't have to locate the nearest convenience at every venue I visit and can have a day in the city without worrying about queues at the Ladies. For the other contributor who said she felt they weren't as effective after a few months - keep them in the fridge. This sorted the same issue for me."

Detrol LA (tolterodine) for Urinary Frequency "Took Flomax by itself. It worked a little but made me dizzy. Added Detrol LA and everything worked a lot better but still got dizzy. Stopped Flomax for about 10 days and only took Detrol LA. Urgency slipped a little but was still good. Dizziness went away. Started Flomax again. Slight improvement but dizziness re-started. Detrol LA seems to be the best of the two."

Detrol LA (tolterodine) for Urinary Frequency "52 year old female with years of frequency, especially nighttime. Have been taking Detrol LA for 1.5 years at bedtime. Worked very well until recently when I started having to get up at night again. Doctor is prescribing Synvasc but I'm not crazy about the idea of having to take it an hour before I can eat."

Detrol LA (tolterodine) for Urinary Frequency "53 yr female, started using Detrol LA 4 mg approximately 2.5 yrs ago. Also tried Enablex and Vesicare. Insurance company dropped Enablex and now is dropping Detrol. Main side-effects are constipation, headache, dry mouth. Headache goes away after a few days. Have gradually decreased dosage to 1/2 capsule daily, then 1/2 capsule 2-3x per week. This has relieved side-effects and am still pain-free. Hoping to get off medication entirely eventually."

For Urinary Incontinence "After my insurance would no longer pay for Vesicare, which worked for me. My doctor had me try tolterodine, initially the results were just ok, but the longer I took it the more pronounced the side effects became, the con's outweighed the positives. I stopped taking it after my issues with incontinence cleared up. Due to a illness, valley fever, the incontinence has returned. The doctor had me re-start the tolterodine . Well once again the side effects returned after two weeks, a fluttering in my ear canals, extreme irritability, and finally constipation. Doctor said the generics are not all the same and that Detrol might be better, but my insurance won't pay for the name brand drug. Guess I will just have to deal with the incontinence.."

Detrol LA (tolterodine) for Urinary Incontinence "I was previously on another medication but was changed to Detrol LA due to some non-emergency side effects. Have used Detrol LA for 2 weeks and find that my bladder always needs to empty (4-5 times a night) and a delay in getting urine stream started. It seems to make by bladder spasm more. Called my doctor to return to the other medication."

For Urinary Incontinence "For the first 5 months, it worked great. Then suddenly, it was just okay. Better than no medication. I have heartburn so bad that Pepcid isn't enough. Dry mouth comes and goes. So I have the bladder issue, okay, but heartburn is severe daily."

For Urinary Frequency "Primary care Physician started me on 2 mgs. Didn't notice any side effects or help. 3 weeks later Urologist upped dosage to 4 mg. I am about 5 weeks on the 4 mg. So 8 weeks total. Very small reduction in frequency and urgency, or pain in lower gut. I seem to have good days and bad days with it. Side effect for me is a bit of spacy head,"

For Urinary Frequency "Solved my problem of night time bladder pain which caused sleep disorder. Unfortunately, it also has serious side effects. It paralyzed my intestinal tract so that even with laxatives I could not have bowel movement. After a week I developed acute diverticulitis and am now on serious antibiotics to clear up the infection. I understand constipation is not a common side effect."

Detrol (tolterodine) for Urinary Frequency "I used to have some leakage and sudden urges to urinate. Detrol has fixed all of that, but I have noted a strange side effect, I think it delays my period sometimes. I will go a week thinking I'm going to start my period, and I wait. One night I forget Detrol, and I have my period. Other than that, Detrol is a wonderful pill!"
