"I was terrified to take this tinidazole for giardia. I took 1 pill to see what it would do in the height of my infection. It did give me diarrhea. Later (a week), I took the correct dose, all 4 in a day but a couple of hours apart. It wasn't bad. I did get a metallic taste, my stomach rumbled, but other than that, I was fine. I did make sure to eat a big meal first, take lots of water, and avoid anything with alcohol. Unfortunately, after 3 weeks, I believe the giardia is back. Not sure if because I had so bad, or it's something else? These reviews really scare people. Unfortunately, everyone is different. I am sensitive and was able to take this, however, I would not recommend if your stomach is in a horrible state. When I took the first pill, I couldn’t even eat a piece of bread without pain. Try not to take it when your stomach is completely out of whack. Get yourself a bit together first. This is a strong medicine on your stomach. Have some graham crackers on hand and kefir to keep coating your tummy. Good luck."

"I had the worst bout of giardiasis + E. coli combination. 10+ loose stools a day for 8 days before I got treatment. I had lost 15 pounds. Right after taking it, I had some stomachache and mild nausea, but that only lasted for a few hours and was nothing compared to the actual giardiasis symptoms. The next morning when I woke up, I already started feeling 100x better. Appetite returned and my stomach felt much more stable to take in food and liquids."

Tinidazole "I was (incorrectly) diagnosed with giardia and took Tindamax. I had a horrible reaction with nausea and diarrhea. This went on, and I ended up hospitalized for days. The bad taste in your mouth lasts a LONG time after you take the medication. It takes a long time to clear your system, as this is a long-acting medication. The reaction I had sounds like what is supposed to happen if you drink alcohol while taking it. I am certain I did not drink alcohol, but I got this ill anyway. The real bummer is that after I took it, I was told the lab made a mistake and I did not actually have giardia!!"

"When first diagnosed, went on metro for 10 days, 4x a day. Did not work. Then given a 1-day dose of tinidazole and had immediate relief. Use tinidazole FIRST!"

"I had severe giardia, had 30 loose bowels a day, no appetite at all, and had lost 15 pounds. I took a 2-gram dose of tinidazole all at once. Zero side effects. See how it works."

"Single 2g dose seems to have rapidly cleared giardiasis with no significant side effects (and, by the way, no problems with two glasses of white wine)."

"I'm immunocompromised, so sometimes I end up with random bowel infections. I've been on a 2g stat dose of tinidazole a few times now. For violent bouts of uncontrolled and explosive diarrhea caused by suspected protozoal infections, this stuff works amazingly and quickly. Bad parts are the fatigue and metallic taste in your mouth (similar to radiotherapy), and no alcohol for 72 hours lest you end up with nasty issues."
