Lamisil (terbinafine) "I just finished 3 months on Lamisil. The only bad thing I’ve experienced thus far is an upset stomach. It comes and goes, but right now I’ve had the runs for about 5 days. Even though it’s such an irritating side effect, I think for the benefit I’m receiving, it is worth it. So far, I have noticed a difference in my nails. I know my doctor said to wait half a year to a year, but I already see improvement. I’m going to be patient and wait, but I feel like this is going to be promising as several of my nails look better already. Again, the only downside is that I have a very upset stomach, but overall, it wasn’t too bad. I’d recommend it."

Lamisil (terbinafine) "I have had this infection of the toenails for about 12 years. Ugh! so embarrassed to ask the doctor I have gone through the misery of not ever wearing sandals or open toed high heels. I work in an office environment and would love to wear sandals with some of my outfits. I recently went to the dr and I finally told her that I have toenail fungus and she easily wrote me a prescription for Lamisil. I started taking it about a week now and have not seen any changes but I will definately give it time and check in and give my review again in the next few weeks!"

Lamisil (terbinafine) "Took this drug a few years ago, and it worked great. I had fungus in 3 of my toenails initially (and had it for a few years before trying this). They all cleared up after use of Lamisil for 12 weeks. I had no side effects. But, within about a year, fungus developed again on my big toe (unless it never cured?). I'm taking Lamisil again, but I'm only 4 weeks in, and I've gotten terrible headaches and pretty bad itching. I'm not sure if I will be able to go through a second round of the stuff at my 6-week check-in. I still think I'd recommend it because it did get rid of fungus on two toenails, but I'm not sure if the side effects would be too off-putting for some."

"This medicine was a miracle pill! I had athlete's foot on my right foot for over 10 years, and I lost all hope after no topical stuff worked. I took this for 6 months, and I had no bad side effects except for a little dizziness occasionally. My nails started growing back after taking this only 3 months. I finished my six-month prescription in March, and all my nails are normal again, and it's July! Don't be scared to try it because you read some bad reviews. Everyone reacts differently!"

Lamisil (terbinafine) "I was scared to take this for many years. The leaflet that comes with it is the most terrifying thing I’ve read. I finally took it and experienced zero side effects, didn’t even know I was taking anything. Liver tests were normal, and watching all your toenails grow out healthy is an amazing feeling. I sprayed my feet and shoes with Tinactin every morning and washed my socks/sheets/towels in hot water regularly to avoid reinfection. 6 months later 8 toes are 100% cured with about 1/2 inch left to grow out on both my big toenails. It took 6 weeks after starting to see healthy nail start growing."

"Was on terbinafine for 6 months due to a fungal infection on the big toenail for about a year. I tolerated this very well overall. The first few days had some stomach issues (a bit like wind), and I noticed my poo had changed to a lighter color. However, this all disappeared from 2.5 to 3 weeks in, and I was completely fine after that, no symptoms at all! I had 2 liver function tests during the six months I was on terbinafine, and both were fine. This has certainly improved the appearance of my nail in that it looks less dark and is growing much more like how a proper nail should be, not thin and crumbly like before. Would recommend."

"I’m on week 5 but have taken this last year and gave up. I’ve learned to take this at night so you can fall asleep, and if your stomach hurts, you don’t notice, lol. Take a probiotic in the AM. This advice will help so much with your tummy. I also take milk thistle for liver support. Don’t drink alcohol! It makes your stomach hurt, coffee makes you have anxiety (it increases the levels of caffeine in your body!). I can tell a huge difference, but this is where I gave up after the 6 weeks last year. Take the full 3 months. I’m going to throw out all old shoes and all my socks near the end. Be patient. It’s taken me over a year to finally see results from my first dose. Also, after showering, blow dry your toes. Sounds silly, but this helps also. Wash your shoes with bleach. One thing I dealt with was anxiety attacks. If you can push through the rough stages of this medication (if you have any), it’ll be okay and worth it in the end! Don’t stress, it’s what I did. Liver is fine, then you're fine."

"My podiatrist put me on this medicine for toenail fungus. I took it for almost 3 weeks with no issues. Towards the end of the third week, I started losing my voice, coughing, and shortness of breath, so I stopped taking it. My feet had also become sore, so I went to an urgent care 2 days later because my feet swelled up and became discolored. They called it cellulitis and an allergic reaction to terbinafine. The podiatrist said because I took it for 3 weeks, it will take 8 weeks to be completely out of my system. I’ve been to the emergency room 3 times due to this reaction. Doctors put me on steroids and the swelling went down, then, after I finished them, the swelling came back along with stiff joints, chills, fever, retaining fluid, and my stomach swells up like 8 months pregnant. I'm now on steroids a 2nd time and dread what comes next after I finish them because I have 3 weeks left of the 8. This has been a nightmare. It’s so bad I had to take a leave of absence from work a month ago. Would not recommend this to anyone."

Lamisil (terbinafine) "I found the pill very effective. Took it every day for 3 months and by the time I had completed the treatment, a new healthy nail had completely grown out. However, within weeks, the fungus returned and the nail became yellow and brittle again. Huge disappointment. At least I didn't have any bad side effects."

"I am a 35-year-old male living in Canada and have had severe toenail fungus for the past 8 years. I tried every over-the-counter treatment possible, and nothing worked. At that point, I decided to see my doctor, and he decided to try me on a few of the topical ointments, and none of those made any difference. I saw in an ad that laser treatment could help, so I went for 12 laser treatments, and the laser tech pretty much guaranteed me that in a few months I would see results, and it did absolutely nothing at all. As a last resort, I went back to my doctor and decided to try Lamisil oral or terbinafine, and it's been 2 months on it, and you can physically see the brand new nails (not infected) growing out. I wish I could post pictures. Best medicine ever!"

Lamisil (terbinafine) "Used it for almost 3 months. Developed muscle pain, and the doctor pulled me off. Other than that, my toes look great after just three months. I spent 35 years treating it myself with no significant results. By summer, my wife wants me to wear sandals, something I haven't done since I was 17. My big toes are about 75% back, others are about 90%. Looking forward to barefoot beach walks."

Lamisil (terbinafine) "I just started three weeks ago, so it's too early to report results, but I wanted to post that the whole taste thing did not happen to me. And there are other meds, such as certain antibiotics, that mess up my taste, so it's not like I'm immune or not sensitive to it. I'm sure the people that are posting about it do have this issue, but my advice is to not think about the taste issue."

"Been on terbinafine for 30 days, and the results are impressive. I'm 37 years old and have had a toenail infection since I was 16. Never wanted to take this for fear of liver damage. I check my liver every 30 days, so far, I'm in perfect health and can see a new nail growing. The big toes are in very bad condition, but I see progress. It's only been 30 days, but I started to see results within 2 weeks. After 21 years of hiding my toes, I'm very happy to see them looking better."

Lamisil (terbinafine) "My comments will be in 2 parts. Part 1) I've had fungus on my big toenails for the last 20+ years and have tried everything. In 2012, my primary doctor prescribed generic Lamisil (Terbinafine), which I took for about a month without issue. At refill time, the pharmacy changed to a different Terbinafine provider and told me not to be surprised by the difference in the appearance of the pills. After a week, I developed a rash on my upper body accompanied by fevers and chills. My doctor ordered me to discontinue the Terbinafine pills, and the symptoms ended. At the time, it wasn't clear if I had simply had an allergic reaction to a new ingredient in the second batch of Terbinafine pills. Regardless, I discontinued the pills, and my fungus never cleared."

"I’ve had toenail fungus for almost 2 decades (first contracted it at 11). I tried various home remedies and topical treatments over the years with no success. The infection eventually spread to every toenail and became severe - my nails crumbled away, and I was forced to paint false ones to avoid embarrassment. I was very anxious about the side effects of terbinafine, so I delayed using it for a long time. However, I finally decided enough was enough and gave it a go. I’m so pleased that I made this decision - within 2 weeks, I could see the beginnings of healthy nails; this was something I had not seen in over 5 years. Within 2 months, half of each nail was clear. I finished the treatment after 4 months and I have 10 healthy nails, with only very minor deformations (to be expected after such a long infection period). There were some side effects - I got bad headaches, and for around 2 weeks, my vision was partially blurred. However, these eventually subsided."

Lamisil (terbinafine) "It took me 1.5 months to work up the courage to take Lamisil because of all the horrendous side effects I read about. I finally took it for 90 days with no horrible side effects. If I took it too close to drinking coffee or eating my beloved chocolate, it made me nauseous. So I took it right before bed. Near the end of the second month, I started itching in various places really bad. I finished treatment wondering why I was so scared. Now just waiting for slow toenails to grow out."

Lamisil (terbinafine) "I have had a toenail fungus for 10 years on 1 big toenail. I finally decided to try the generic Lamisil after refusing to take it from hearing about possible liver damage. After taking it for 2 weeks, I developed an itchy, red, bumpy rash on my back, chest, and neck. I am now using a prescription steroid cream on my skin for the next 2 weeks to help with this rash! I guess there's no hope in getting rid of this fungus. My dermatologist said to try Vick's Vaporub every day, 2x a day to see if that helps..."

"I am honestly so happy I can cry. I had fungus all throughout middle school and high school until one day I told myself enough is enough. I was tired of not being able to have pretty feet and constantly being bullied by my own relatives. I am currently 20 and started taking terbinafine in September, and it's now November, and my fungus cleared up. I had thick toenails, they were brittle. It was so horrible and embarrassing, and now it totally disappeared. I didn't think anything could help, but I just want you to know, to whoever is reading this, that there is hope. All I did was talk to my doctor, and she gave me terbinafine (Lamisil) for 6 weeks, and then I had to have another repeat of it, but it completely went away. So to anyone thinking of taking these pills, it is really worth the wait. The only side effects I had were dizziness for 2 weeks and a little bit of hair loss, but I am totally fine now and I don't regret taking these pills one bit."

Lamisil (terbinafine) "This medicine does work. I took it for about a month before I had a really bad reaction, though. I had an itchy hive-looking rash, and it turned into welts all over my body, including my face. My eyes swelled up and were really puffy, too. I wish I could've stayed on the medicine for the 3-month period because it does work. I have a clean toenail growing in, but I had to stop the medicine, so hopefully it stays that way. If you develop a reaction or an allergy to this, it really sucks, but it does work. I recommend not missing a day and always taking it at the same time every day. I took it every day when I woke up, but I got sick and stopped taking it for a couple of days. Coincidentally, when I started taking it again, the reaction happened."

Lamisil (terbinafine) "I have been taking Lamisil for about 2 months. I have had toenail fungus for about 4 years. The fungus has been very slow-growing, which is why I think that I haven't seen any physical change yet. The fungus is on 4 of my 10 toes. I think that it is spreading to the other ones. I am hoping that I will see some change in the next months. I have heard it takes longer for the worse cases to heal. Oh, and I have had no side effects besides after I take it the first time after a break (I am on pulse dosage), I have a little upset stomach. Nothing too bad though."

"I have had toenail fungus for close to 20 years. Unfortunately, when I was younger, trauma to one of my toenails caused it to fall off. The fungus took over that nail and then spread to four other toes. For years, I hid my feet, embarrassed and ashamed of them. I decided it was time to get my blood test and start the medication. Well, today I started my third month of my 90-day prescription. I should have done this sooner. My toes no longer hurt, the skin on the bottom of my feet is smooth instead of rough and scaly. But the best part of all is that I'm seeing clear nails. One baby toe is almost completely grown out. Another is halfway there. My two big toes are still mostly infected, but new growth is definitely visible. Beyond excited!!"

Lamisil (terbinafine) "I have been using this medication for roughly 3 weeks now. I haven't lost taste yet, but I won't be surprised if I do. I am experiencing terrible headaches (all day long), loss of appetite, and I am not sleeping (which I have never had a problem with before). Just wondering if anyone else has had these same effects while taking this medication. I am a 33-year-old female, and I got an infected toenail while I was pregnant...10 years ago. I tried every over-the-counter medicine invented...only to waste my money. So, I am going to stick it out. I will write back to let you know how it turned out. Thanks!"

"Just as most of you that commented on terbinafine, I was afraid of taking this medication, as several people, including my physician, said it is harsh on the liver; however, my toenails looked so horrible for so many years and ultimately spread to my thumbs. Very discouraged to wear sandals and always hiding my feet, that I decided to give it a try. A podiatrist recommended a 90-day program, and I've been on it now for almost two months, seeing very nice results in all 10 toenails and thumbnail. Still not 100% there yet, but hopefully will get there by summer, as it takes about 10 months, according to my podiatrist, for the nails to grow out free of fungus. Thanks be to God, no side effects; I checked my liver after 1 month and 1 week."

Eventually decided to give it a try and glad I did. No serious side effects and can definitely see new fresh nails growing. Looking forward to seeing nails in a few months!"
