For Onychomycosis, Toenail "52-year-old guy here. All ten toes were horribly infected. Terbinafine healed me, and I’m so very grateful. Infection on one toe for more than 20 years and all 10 for 4 years, it was terrible, so embarrassing, and depressing. I was afraid of using terbinafine, then found this website which gave me the confidence to try it. Thank God for this site, and thanks to everyone who provided their reviews. I’m healed now - the right big toe has probably another few weeks of growth to grow out completely, but all other nine toes are completely healed! I knew I had to complete the 90-day cycle, and being honest here, I did not take the blood tests for liver function. I also drank beer, just being honest. Metal taste - sorta occasionally, took at night after meals, no biggie, you’ll be fine. You’ll notice about the third month the yellow under the nail disappears. The feeling after healing too, omg my toes feel reborn! Just do it and heal. Much love!"

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "The podiatrist prescribed Lamisil for my (big) toenail fungus. I asked about side effects, and her comment was, “I’ve not seen anything serious.” Well, 5 weeks in and I woke up to exploding diarrhea. This diarrhea continued for 3 weeks - day and night. At first, I did not associate the diarrhea with the Lamisil. After discontinuing the med, it took another 2-1/2 weeks to get out of my system and for the diarrhea to stop. I experienced some sleep disruptions, but assumed it was because of my fear of soiling myself and the bed again. My sleep is finally improving as well. The worst part is that I see no difference in my toenail. I have had blood work done, and there are no indications of liver issues. I would definitely go another route than Lamisil."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "Just about finished my 3 months on this medication. I have had toenail fungus for 23+ years and was in the process of thinking about getting my toenails removed. My doctor suggested trying this out first, which I have. Through the whole process of Lamisil, I have had a little bit of an upset stomach, nothing serious, though. As for its effectiveness on my fungus, I feel like the fungus has stopped 'growing.' My poor wife used to have to file my nails down as the fungus would grow and be quite painful. She said she's noticed a little good growth at the bed of my toenail. All in all, I am very happy I went this route over removal. We will see the true results in about a year's time."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "I have taken Lamisil for 7 weeks. I have had loss of taste and am a little more tired. The loss of taste concerns me. I have read some people got it back and some have been off it for months and have not. Even water tastes bad. Nails look better, so I am going to stick it out and pray. It's kind of nice not wanting to eat sweets, but I miss a glass of wine tasting good. Hopefully it will resolve."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "I took Lamisil for 4 weeks. I am a Registered Nurse, and I didn't realize that the medication could affect my taste. This is definitely the worst side effect that I have ever experienced with any medication. The change in taste almost happened overnight. All of a sudden, everything tasted like motor oil. I have been off the medication for 7 days, and I am unable to eat. I pray that I regain my sense of taste."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I am 23. I have toenail fungus on my right big toenail. It makes my nail very thick, ragged, and yellow, it's very ugly. I really want it to go away so I can wear sandals and heels, but this medication, terbinafine, is giving me depression, mood swings. I am very irritable, and I don’t care about life anymore and hate everyone. I tried taking it for 2 weeks, stopped, and the symptoms went away. So after 3 weeks, I tried to take it again, and right after 2 days of taking it, I’m having those symptoms again!"

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "I found terbinafine to be much more effective than the very expensive medications I had previously tried, and it was MUCH cheaper. The fungus was not completely gone by the end of the 3 months, but it continued to work, and now my toenails are beautifully clear. I would recommend it to anyone with the fungus on toenails."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "Here is my issue with this drug: it makes absolutely NO mention at all that it can cause panic attacks or exacerbate anxiety. I took ONE pill, just one single pill, and 3 hours later I had a SEVERE panic attack, it was INTENSE! I have gone to the ER 5 times because of these panic attacks, which have caused me to think I am having a heart attack or stroke or something. I have suffered severe depression from this drug, an extremely foggy mind, extreme fatigue, extreme insomnia, extreme shortness of breath, mood swings, I have no prior history of panic attacks or depression at all. This drug has DESTROYED my life just from one tiny 250mg pill. How these side effects are not included on the damn bottle completely baffles me. This drug should be outlawed, and the producers of this drug should be sued, possibly even imprisoned. This is poison, do NOT take this drug. It is absolutely horrific, and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "After having taken this drug for 2 months, I got an awful, foul taste in my mouth and could not have anything touch my tongue without gagging and a feeling of something in my throat. After visiting 5 doctors, who just looked at me like I was crazy and had never heard of anything like that, one said it was the medication. I stopped taking it on Nov 2, this is Dec 1, and I still cannot eat or drink anything other than water. I have lost about 25 pounds. It is making me weak and tired, and I have no quality of life at this point. I no longer care about the toenail fungus. I have been so sick with the taste and smell problem that the toenail problem is the very least of my worries. Missed Thanksgiving and hoping I won't miss Christmas. Don't take it!!"

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "Fungus on all 10 toes for the last 15 years. Toenails were brown, thick, and some of them crumbly...from the matrix to the top of the toenail. Soles of feet were extremely hard, dry, and cracked. I was prescribed 3 months' worth of this medication. My doctor informed me to throw away all my shoes and socks and buy new ones. If you skip this part, your toenail fungus will continue to come back! Buy at least 2 pairs so you can alternate shoes every other day. Sanitize shoes with an antifungal or SteriShoe in between wears. Wash socks alone in boiling water with borax or bleach and dry them completely. Within 2 weeks, the hard calluses on my feet were gone...no difference in toenails at that time. By the end of 3 months, I could see a clear nail growing from the bottom up. It’s been 6 months, and my toes look amazing. Big toes are still a work in progress. I’m currently taking a 2nd dose for 30 days."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Fingernail "I am a healthy 25-year-old male. I cannot remember my toenails not having fungus. I lived through the embarrassment seemingly my whole life, but once my thumbnail became infected to the point where it was practically gone, I had to do anything to treat it. The doctor suggested I take Lamisil. I think he said it has like a 50% chance of working. I was very nervous after reading reviews, but it also helps that I never drink alcohol. I took it from Dec. '11 until March '12, had one liver panel done (normal result). I believe by April my thumbnail was 100% healthy and now (9/12) my toenails are 99% healthy. Thank you. The only side effect I noticed wasn't bad, just that my farts/stool smelled metallic. I say give it a shot, you can always stop taking it."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "Works great, I've been on it for 2 1/2 months. My toenails are not yellow anymore, only the ends are a little bit. I had toenail fungus for 15 years, they were thick and yellow, and I had to file them a lot. I tried everything to make it go away. I am on the generic brand of Lamisil. The side effects were just watery poop for two weeks, nothing more. My feet are not dry anymore, they're soft. I can wear sandals now without wearing fake toenails or fingernail polish. When on this, file the nail down to get the fungus and keep doing it. Use a different file each time, don't wear socks too long, and keep your feet clean."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "In late November, I began taking Lamisil as prescribed by my podiatrist. There were few, if any, side effects-at least none clearly noticeable to me. Slowly, the nails on the three infected toenails began to grow out healthy. The new nail was not thick or yellowish, and was firmly connected to the nail bed. My prescription lasted for three months, at which time the infection had grown out by approximately 70%. My podiatrist said there was no need to extend the prescription beyond three months unless the fungus came back. It is now early May, and I can say that I have no symptoms of toenail fungus whatsoever. I have had the fungus for at least 10 years on my two big toes, and well over 15 years on a pinkie toe. My nails are completely healthy."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "Prescription Lamisil has healed my toenails. I contacted the infection from pedicures. I've learned to do my own pedicures and have been taking the meds, and it's great! I've had liver and kidney tests done, and I'm good. At first, it did make me feel sick, but after a week of taking Lamisil, I had no issues at all. There are home remedies to cleanse your liver and kidneys. I'd rather help myself than be concerned with what a control group has come up with as far as side effects. I know it works for me, and it's even healed my dry feet. Drink water with lemon 4 hours after your dose. Just think... People take other pills and drink alcohol, which messes up your liver, kidneys, and urinary tract, but that's OK. I'd rather be healthy than worry about what meds will do. If you have diarrhea, then take Imodium. So simple!!"

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "I have been on this medicine exactly a month. My right foot, which was affected, is having smooth skin, no itching. The nail is getting harder and better. I love the fact that when my foot touches the sheets, it is not snagging and is not itching. However, I have nausea, an upset stomach, some headaches, I feel tired, and my skin on my face is very sensitive, the slightest scratch swells it up and makes it red. I have a rash on my upper hard palate that just came on yesterday. I want to finish the course, I will have to see. I wish there was a single shot that would take care of this. Why is there such a tedious fungus that has to be eradicated in this fashion?"

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "I am a 31-year-old female that has had toenail fungus for over 10 years. My big and little toe on the same foot. I went to the doctor about 2 months ago after my big toe became very painful (it was throbbing like a toothache). As embarrassed as I was, something had to be done! He prescribed me Lamisil. Side Effects - I had a loss of appetite that sadly only lasted a week. Twice I had a little stomach cramping, and the first week or so was a little bit more tired than usual, but have had no side effects since. I'm on my 38th day. I am extremely happy to say that I see beautiful nails now growing! They won't be perfect until my nail grows completely out, which could take 6 months, but it's working!"

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "This medication can damage liver function. I was prescribed Lamisil. After 3 days, I discovered my urine turned into a dark tea color, and I fell sick. I got my liver test result back, it showed my liver was damaged, 3 times beyond the normal result. I wasn't able to continue using Lamisil. I also checked if I had any kind of hepatitis, the results came back, indicating that I had never been affected by any kind of hepatitis. Eventually, it took me almost 1 year to recover from using Lamisil."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I’ve had severe nail fungus on all the nails on one foot for at least 7 years (I’m 23). I finally went to the doctor in January 2020 and got prescribed terbinafine. I’ve taken it every day for 6 months now, and the nails on my four smaller toes are completely fine now, whilst the big toenail is about 80% healed. I had a few side effects (stomach ache and headache) for the first two weeks or so, but after that, absolutely no side effects. The doctor predicts that the entire course will last 12 months to fully get all the infection. 100% recommend (with regular liver function tests). Also necessary to take it for long enough if your infection is particularly bad or some fungus will remain and you will relapse."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "Got my first toenail fungus when I was 9 years old due to a public swimming pool. It started off as athlete's foot and later developed to toenail fungus. Throughout the years, they spread to all 5 toes on one foot. Tried every topical treatment, and for the past 2 years, I did 5 laser toenail treatments, and nothing worked! I was tired of not being able to wear open-toe shoes, and being a 27-year-old female living in California, this was tough! I was very concerned with all the side effects, but I never got any serious reactions. I felt like I lost some of my appetite and had some discomfort in my stomach the first month. For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I was a bit wary about trying this after reading a lot of negative reviews and scary side effects, but after a 20-year problem with all 10 toenails (crumbling, discolored and would practically peel off the nail bed) and being too embarrassed to show my feet in summer, I decided to give terbinafine a try. Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "Taking the generic brand of Lamisil. All 10 toes infected with toenail fungus for more than 8 years. Some extremely thick, others discolored, and some even cracked. The first month, discoloration was the first thing to clear up, also, any athlete's foot cleared up immediately. In the second month, the thickness in nails has started to disappear. In the third month, I have noticed the bottom half of the nails have come in clear on a few of the nails. Note: the doctor recommended, after showering, to clean out the bottom of the toenails, then let them dry fully, then file them down slightly. This has really improved the look of my toenails. My insurance covered the cost of the generic brand, which is less than five dollars a month."
