"Slept really well. Didn't wake up once. Usually get up about four times to go to the bathroom and get comfortable. First time using it was last night. Had a hangover and had to sleep more. Will try again tonight. Usually takes me two hours to go to sleep, but not last night... thank goodness."

"I've been taking Restoril for over a year. At first, I could sleep all night, but now I am waking up after 4 to 6 hours. Sometimes I can fall back to sleep, but usually not. I take it 30 to 60 minutes before I want to sleep, and sometimes am still awake 2 hours later. Even though now I am averaging 4 to 6 hours of sleep, it is so much better than 2 to 2.5, which was all I was getting before."

"I've been on this for almost 10 years (30 mg) for bipolar sleep disorder, and I haven't had to change it the whole time. It's totally changed the way I sleep, and now I never miss a night. I did take olanzapine for about a year, but I had to stop because it messed with my blood sugar. And after that, it seemed like the temazepam didn't work as well. Or maybe I'm still withdrawing from the olanzapine. But I've always really liked temazepam."

"Works well, but leaves a bit of a 'hangover.' Ambien is better, however, I rearranged my furniture one night and have no memory of it. So it's safe to say I quit taking Ambien after that incident and changed to Restoril."

"My BP goes up when I lay down, giving me insomnia. This med helps me go to sleep but not stay asleep, and I sometimes have vivid dreams on this med, but I still think it's worth a try. It does provide a relaxing feeling."

"I absolutely love this drug. I was on two 0.5 mg Clonazepam, but the conversion from 1 mg Clonazepam is Restoril 30 mg. The only reason my doctor wouldn’t prescribe me a sleeping pill is that I was on Clonazepam. I went off of my other medication and switched to Restoril. I thought I would have panic attacks and GAD, but nothing like that happened. I highly recommend this drug to anyone who suffers from insomnia, PAs, or GAD. 10+"

"I took this medicine for the first time last night. I had been using Seroquel, but I had so many side effects that I had to stop using it. Although it was the first night I used it, I could only sleep for two hours at a time. After waking up several times, I am finally wide awake at 3:20 in the morning. I ended up taking Klonopin because I have a very busy day at work and I need my sleep. I was on 15 mg of Restoril. I will call my doctor this morning and see if she determines I need a higher dose."

"I have been taking Restoril for 2 weeks now, with no help. I stay up all night, and when I do finally fall asleep, I get up about every hour. I don't have any side effects from it. I have also tried Ambien, I think it was better, but it lost its effect quickly."

"I’m a 45-year-old female. Have been having insomnia for 2 years due to what I think are MS-type symptoms. Physically so uncomfortable. I hate drugs and refuse them. I’ve been sitting on this bottle for months. Last night I gave the 15 mg a try. I actually spilled out a little from the capsule. So maybe it was 10 mg. Ummmm, I slept. Like I haven’t for years! Dreams! Like going wayyyy back-type dreams. Slept 7-9 hrs. Woke up feeling so-so. I’m sick now and have been having major daily fatigue for 6 months, so didn’t wake up perky. Then I felt a bit nauseous at lunch. Then I started feeling very, very, very agitated. Like uncontrolled. I will save this bottle and try again when I’m over this virus, and see if I feel the same anger over nothing. I know it’s not much of a review. But man, did I SLEEP! The instructions on my bottle are as needed, so it’s not to be a daily thing. Back to magnesium spray."

"I have been taking Restoril for about a year, and I'm taking 2 30 mg at night, and it did work for the first 5 years, but after trying everything else, I can't complain. I have a very hard time staying asleep, so for me, I don't mind the 'hangover' feeling when I wake up because sometimes that allows me to go back to sleep. So, in short - nice medication."

"Sometimes I do not fall asleep for hours. Usually out in about an hour. I never sleep for more than 4-5 hours. I admit I do sleep a bit longer when I take it, but not by much. I have been using Restoril for over a year."

"Although I try to avoid sleep medication, Restoril works fabulously as my 'last resort' when I've been tossing and turning for hours and sleep will not come. Thankfully, it's not often, usually, Midnite Melatonin is my first choice if I'm not tired. If I take it and it doesn’t work, then I go to the restaurant. Works every time, even if I have anxiety about not sleeping."

"I was taking lorazepam for a number of years. It didn't help me fall asleep quickly but slept 6 or 7 hours. Now I am taking Restoril 15 mg. I get to sleep quickly for about 5 hours then not so much. I'd rather be back on lorazepam (1 mg)."

"I have, in the last, taken Sonata, Lunesta, now Restoril. Restoril is the least effective of the drugs I have taken. I take it when I get in bed, and I never fall asleep. It is as if I have not taken anything. Doubling the dose makes no difference. With Sonata, I would take 2 and fall asleep for at most 3 hours. Lunesta works great at its highest dose, but I tend to sleep too long on it (more than 8 hours at times). Restoril just does not work for me at all. As with anything, these drugs react differently with different people. I have not tried Ambien."

"I have been on Temazepam now for 25 years, and while it is the best sleep med, it also has consequences. It will shut down the production of brain chemicals like GABA, which cause you not to sleep. It comes with a warning not to use it for more than 12 days for a reason. It will cause you not to sleep at all, and you build up a tolerance to it and won't be effective after years of use. I suggest, like the manufacturer does, not to use it for more than several weeks as it causes other problems as well."

"Tried first time low dose 7.5 mg, never went to sleep, but sure rested comfortably without fidgeting from anxiety. Tried 15 mg second time, slept 3 hours (first sleep in 5 days) and woke up to a panic attack. Could not even rest comfortably for the rest of the interminable night. It’s me, not the drug."

"I have taken 30 mg temazepam at 10 p.m., and here it is 4:54 a.m., and I am still awake. Been taking it for about a week with the same results. Lucky to fall asleep by 9 a.m. and wake up at 1 p.m., 4 hours of sleep is not working for me."

"I started Restoril 30 mg about a week ago and had high hopes that it would work, but it didn’t. I do feel a relaxed feeling after about 30 minutes of taking it, but that’s all. It doesn’t help me to fall asleep whatsoever."

"This medicine does NOT work! I took 30 mg plus my Seroquel AND 35 mg of melatonin. It took 3 hours to kick in, and when it did, I only slept for an hour and a half. This is ridiculous! DO NOT take this medicine!!!! I can't say enough."

"This stuff is absolutely worthless. I took two of them (30 mg) in desperation when I went to bed at 10:00 p.m. It is now 3:20 a.m., and I am still wide awake. I don't dare mix anything else with it, but this medicine wouldn't help a squirrel to snooze. Don't even bother."

"Due to major anxiety and stress, can't sleep before 6-7:30 am. Was put on an anti-anxiety pill and Restoril today. The anti-anxiety pill kicked in fast and made me kind of drowsy, but the Restoril 30 mg I just took 45 min ago doesn't seem to be kicking in. Should I take another? I do drink ale here and there, but that should increase my effect, not stop it, right? Maybe I should get used to vampire hours! This sucks, lol."

"Restoril was a 5-star mild sleeping pill when Mylan made it. None of the current generic Restorils are worth taking. Estazolam is a far second in terms of effectiveness and no side effects, but in no way is it as good as the Mylan. The good reviews that I saw all appear to be before Mylan discontinued generic Restoril. The others are not good and seem to only provide side effects, not sleep."

"I’ve struggled with sleep for as long as I can remember, sometimes not too bad, and sometimes very bad. I was extremely hesitant about taking this because I’ve never taken any kind of benzodiazepine before, and I was well aware that they are a very dark and destructive drug. After exhausting every option, including CBT, I finally gave up and got some 15 mg pills. The first night I took 1 as directed, and nothing. The second night I took 2, and nothing. The third night I took 3 and noticed that it did calm my mind a bit (maybe 50%), which felt amazing since I have 5 different thoughts consisting of 5 different emotions flowing through my head at all times, 24/7. It didn’t help me sleep because I woke up 2 hours after falling asleep, right to the same old racing thoughts that keep me up at night. I threw the rest away after my little experiment since I have no interest in taking 45+ mg every night and then taking more every time I wake up throughout the night. Absolutely not."

"30 mg pill at bedtime. Worked very well to help me sleep with my chronic insomnia. After 3 months, it became less effective, and now at 4 months, it’s almost not worth taking. I see my Dr in early January to discuss next steps."

"I'm updating my review below from March 2. It's now April 21, 2018. I'm a 45-year-old female who was always a light sleeper but a good sleeper until 2 years ago, with physical symptoms that would wake or keep me up. I've taken 1-2 per week in conjunction with Advil PM on other nights (works!) and nothing 1-2 nights per week. I like Restoril. I take 15 mg. It absolutely helps. I have preexisting tinnitus for over a year, and when I sleep, it quiets it down a bit. I take it when I can sleep in and have no major plans before noon. This is a great supplemental drug that I will not take 2 days in a row. But once a week - maybe twice at the most."
