"Started taking it 0.4, but first, retrograde ejaculation. Then, stuffed nose. Then, constipation. Then, flutter of heart. That was two weeks ago. It did change my counts to the bathroom from 6 to twice in one evening."

"I used Flomax for about 2 years. I woke up every hour to pee and could not wait, lack of sleep was making me tired and sleepy every morning. I lost the ability to hold back urine and wet my pants twice before quitting. I never saw any improvement with my symptoms - low flow, hard to start flow, stopped and started each time."

"Helped somewhat with urination, however, sexual ejaculation got crazy, and erection was short-lived, even with Viagra. Dizziness is a very big problem, especially when golfing. Had a rash this morning just under my pectoral muscles, itching. I have been taking this med for about 4-5 weeks. Call in to the Doc now, waiting....."

"Acute pain in sides of back (kidney pain on both sides). Hurts when I cough! Hurts getting up from a seated position. Looked through reviews but cannot find others suffering from this particular side effect. I have been on Flomax for one week, and while frequent urination and urinary retention symptoms have greatly improved, this side effect is freaking me out! It's like I have been kicked in the kidneys... only started happening after taking Flomax."

"Flow has improved, but I have the equivalent of a permanent head cold. After two months, I have trouble breathing through my nose, and sleep fully. It's not worth it. I will try Avodart, and if that doesn't work, I will have surgery."

"Must be careful with Flomax side effects and check for interactions with other BP/heart meds. My conditions cleared with the first pill. BPH was induced by another infection and allowed antibiotics to work by restoring the urine flow. I stopped after the second pill. It should be made available at a much lower dose for induced BPH treatment."

"I have been on Tamsulosin for about 6 months. I don't have any side effects. I did have retrograde ejaculation for about a week, but all has been well since. I do forget to take the 1 tablet occasionally. Actually forgot this weekend. I don't notice a marked difference with or without the drug, perhaps a slightly weaker stream and a slightly harder time passing urine, but I do wonder if it's actually worth taking? I will discuss this with my urologist. So give it a go if your Dr says so. It does help a bit."

"After the invasive bladder exam, Wednesday I was prescribed Flomax. I went directly to the pharmacy, though I was offered a cheaper generic, I took Flomax. I took only 3 pills (the low dosage) over 3 days. I did not like it. I was provoked to urinate almost 30 times in 24 hours. It’s a gut punch-squeeze on your innards to get urine out, with forced straining, grimacing. It is hard to describe the discomfort/pain, and it lingers a little after. The genitals are sensitized by this drug. More sensitive than before, not good. Just no. After speaking to nurses and pharmacists (who went back and forth on this), I stopped after 3 doses. I used sleeping pills to sleep through most of the last 3 nights. I couldn’t leave the house until yesterday because I’d have to go. The effects of the drug aren’t out of my system since taking the last dose on Sunday-today is Thursday night."

"I was prescribed Flomax due to kidney stones. Other than the pain, I felt fine, then started taking this drug. Long story short, I hate it. I took it for about a week. I suppose it might have helped remove the stone, but I felt like crap. Insomnia, weakness, coughing, hiccuping constantly. Loss of appetite, foods just didn't appeal at all, muscle pain, diarrhea. Thursday was my last pain, today is Monday. I stopped taking them last Saturday. I could not take another one. How anyone can be on these for weeks and months is beyond me."

"Didn't work for me and bad side effects after CyberKnife. No libido and painful or no ejaculation at all. Stopped and was okay. Sixteen months later developed a UTI, BPH, and bladder issues. Urgent urination day and night started coming back about eight weeks ago, and the doctor put me on Cialis 5 mg samples daily (insurance would not cover) for BPH and 500 mg of Cypro for UTI. Was okay, then one week ago conditions worsened after running out of Cialis for just a few days and started remaining on Flomax again for four to five days and went downhill really fast. I am now urinating 20+ times, if not more. I can't leave the house, literally. Can hit in three seconds. My urine culture just came back negative, and I'm on 500 mg of cefuroxime. Started back on Cialis yesterday. Brutal, waiting for the doctor to call."

"Has made urination easier and less urgent. The only side effect has been retrograde ejaculation. Kind of an odd feeling and no semen in the condom. There is some cloudiness in the urine with the first urination after sexual intercourse. After getting used to the feeling, sex is as pleasurable as it has always been."

"I have used Flomax for a year. It has reduced the urgency and improved flow. Initially, it inhibited sex drive, but I got used to it and am back to nearly normal. My doctor has recommended Rapaflo. One improvement may be sleeping better. I now have trouble getting back to sleep after my once-per-night pee trip."

"The doctor asked me to try Flomax, as I was making five or six trips a night to the bathroom. I am a 72-year-old man who was tired and needed help. I read the reviews, and most on this site were negative to some degree. In my case, having taken this drug for 3 weeks, I have had no side effects, and I am sleeping 7 to 8 hours without having to get up. In my case, this drug works, I hope the benefits are long-lasting. I am reviewing this drug as a contributor to the National Health Service of the UK, and as such, payment is not required."

"It is essential to read all the adverse effects others have suffered and the alternatives that worked for them. I am an old man over 80 years old and have been on Flomax for years with no side effects. We are all different, so that is to be expected. I have several friends who also use Flomax. Not once has the subject of side effects come up, and I must assume they don’t have them. One is a “complainer” and would undoubtedly say something. A year ago, I got COVID and survived easily. I have had worse colds, and I have several of the high-risk characteristics and was surprised it wasn’t worse. Since then, I have experienced a stuffy nose, which is minor and not an issue for me. I must assume that it is related to the COVID, not Flomax. For each person who has a negative side effect, I assume that there could be dozens or hundreds who don’t."

"I posted previously (I think here?) about my dissatisfaction with Flomax and the pain and discomfort it caused me during the 3 days (3 doses) I took it and the 5 days after I stopped taking it, thinking I was experiencing residual effects. Turns out I had a UTI infection due to the cystoscopy. Be sure to get antibiotics after cystoscopies, before starting Flomax, avoiding much pain and discomfort. I might give Flomax another try, will consult with additional doctors before!"

"Flomax almost killed me. It caused rapid heartbeat and sudden syncope twice in my case. This happened when I suddenly fainted and dropped hard on the hard tiles on the kitchen floor, hurting my head just a few hours after taking the medication, and another time in the shower, causing body bruises. Just imagine experiencing sudden syncope while driving to work on a major highway, I would have lost my life. I was admitted to the hospital for checkups to see if my syncope was related to something else and stayed for 34 hours, costing me close to $43,500! I was told my syncope was caused by Flomax and nothing else, as my heart, lungs, and brain were just fine. I would never have taken this medication had I known it causes these side effects. NEVER AGAIN. Please don't take it."

"Used Flomax for a long time, and it worked great for me. Used to get up 5 times a night, then after using Flomax, maybe once or twice. Then my company raised the price from $75.00 to $495.00 for 3 months. Then they said they had a generic for $30.00 for 3 months. Am on the generic, and it does not work."

"I was experiencing severe back pain, in which I was barely able to turn my head to the right or the left. I did extensive research and found out that the probable cause was my prostate. I consulted with my doctor, who confirmed that it was my prostate. I asked my doctor to explain the connection between my back and neck pain, but she got irritated. She prescribed Flomax, which has been a nightmare for me. After taking the Flomax, I was able to pee more freely, which has been a problem for me. Now I cannot hold my urine for long when I want to pee. Secondly, I do have a dry orgasm. I did some research and found out that Flomax will do this. It is irreversible. Based on reviews here, it confirms my fears."

"I took this for about three weeks for BPH. After nearly passing out the second time after standing up, I decided it wasn't worth it. I also had nausea and lethargy. It did help somewhat with urine flow, but the side effects caused me to stop."

"Dizziness, blurred vision, sore head, itchy rash, but it did help the flow rate of passing urine. But it did not stop the frequent trips to the toilet at night, 5 to 6 times. No full night's sleep. Seeing a professor to change the drug if possible."

"I just started this and then read reviews here. I'm REALLY concerned. One guy said that he has good luck taking Flomax every other day. If he reads this, do you get the side effects of sexual dysfunction, like every single other guy has mentioned here? I decided to try this, and it seems to be working so far. Has anyone stopped this and had their sexual functioning return to normal? I wonder if this is just an effect of lowered blood pressure. Besides, I cannot afford this stuff. I've done a lot of research on natural alternatives. I'm going to try these, and at least right now, I am optimistic, as user reviews are very positive."

"Not effective half of the time; causes me to feel like the room is spinning; doesn't always get bladder fully emptied; makes me feel weak and tired at least half the time; occasional urinary incontinence; loss of sexual desire and poor erections; often makes me feel nervous or apprehensive."

"My experience is bang-on great! I rarely get up at night, and my flow is excellent, no pain, no dribbles, etc. I take about 4 pills that will lower my blood pressure, plus morphine, which does interact with Flomax, but I lowered my morphine dose and spread it out more, and it works great. I was worried about insomnia, but all is well there. I had a vasectomy 13 years ago, which, when combined with Flomax, may cause low ejaculate. Flomax works great for me, and my life has improved considerably."

"Was given Flomax on Monday to help with frequent trips to the bathroom. On Tuesday, my tooth started hurting, so I went to the dentist, only to be sent home with hope that it would just go away. The pain got worse and so intense that Thursday I went back to the dentist, who said he could see no reason for the pain, so he sent me to a specialist dentist 100 miles from my house. I had X-rays, hot and cold treatments, and was sent home with more pain pills. I only took two Flomax pills, one Monday and one Tuesday. On the drive home, my pain started to go away. I called the doctor that gave me the Flomax, he said to stop, it can cause tooth pain."

"Taking a 0.4 mg capsule resulted in side effects that made me want to stop taking Flomax. I now open a capsule and pour out half of the contents, resulting in a 0.2 mg dose in the re-sealed capsule and another 0.2 mg dose that I put into a tiny piece of dough. I am 62 years old, had 2 types of radiation treatment for prostate cancer 7 years ago; I am taking Flomax to counter the feeling of urgency to urinate frequently (due to the bladder not fully emptying during urination). Flomax side effects include headaches, insomnia, and stuffy sinuses; however, I need to stay on Flomax longer (than 1 week) to make a definite conclusion. 7 years ago, I had no bad side effects but stopped due to the price of Flomax."
