For Bacterial Infection "I’ve been taking this and am randomly getting anxiety & a jittery feeling. I also keep having weird dreams since I’ve been on it. I had a ear/near my tooth infection. I’m allergic to amoxicillin so I was prescribed Bactrim. I’m on the 8th day & I feel insomnia and anxiety. My feet are also really cold. It fluctuates but I’ll be quitting tomorrow since I don’t feel like myself"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have frequent urinary tract infections and I've taken this many times but hadn't in five or so years because my urinary tract infection became resistant to it. Now since I'm taking it again its given me the jitters and acid reflux but those are still better that cystitis. "

For Urinary Tract Infection "I took Bactrim 2 X a day for 3 days for a UTI. I did experience some strange side effects but it knocked the UTI out in 24 hrs. My skin felt warm and itchy and I was very sun sensitive. I was very edgy with my husband and son and had difficulty falling asleep the last night. Glad I'm done with them but overall I feel it was worth it to get rid of the UTI."

For Bacterial Infection "Have been taking this medicine for 5 days for Cellulitis that developed on my leg below the knee. I had waited 7 days prior to seeking treatment. First three days after getting an injection type not known, thick solution and needle and taking Bactrim and Cephalexin showed little signs of improvement, 4 days showed signs of reduced swelling, 5th day swelling all but gone, reduced redness and warmth at sight. 6th day redness reduced greatly and leg feels normal. However, Side effects extreme fatigue, nausea, dry mouth, overall ill feeling. Overall benefits out way side effects."

For Urinary Tract Infection "It almost killed me. I took 2 doses. The pain that went from my waist down to my ankles were unmanageable. I ended up in the hospital and my legs completely gave out from the pain. They said I was having such a rare reaction that they didn’t even know how to treat it. It was the scariest thing I’ve been through."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Knocked UTI symptoms out effectively after the first 24 hours. However, the side effects were not pleasant and were very noticeable: headache, nausea, dizziness, light-headed, weakness, sweating, dry mouth, excessive thirst, tiredness. I'm on day 3 and have asked the doc to switch me to something else so I can function better at home and work. Trying Cipro. Be sure to drink water constantly when on Bactrim DS."

For Infection Prophylaxis "I've been taking this pill for almost my entire life to help keep off bad infections and it's been a miracle worker for me (I don't have any natural immunity, was born that way) so this pill helps me avoid any bad infections and thus far has worked great. I've never experienced any side effects from it."

For Urinary Tract Infection "It's my 4th day on Bactrim and it has not been great. I feel better from the overall symptoms but I've been fatigued and super groggy and for the first day I had a horrible headache. I keep feeling my heart pounding in my head and ears, but I agree with pretty much everyone else on here, the symptoms from the cure are better than the symptoms of my bladder/kidney infection. I've got 6 more days... Is it effective? Yes. Is it an enjoyable experience? No."

For Bacterial Skin Infection "I was prescribed Bactrim DS for a Paronychia infection on my right index finger. There was no apparent abscess so the doctor felt a script of Bacrtim DS would do the job. After taking the first pill I began to fill dizzy and nauseous. Over the next few days I had barely any appetite and wanted to sleep all day. I felt like I could not get enough sleep. I was also extremely sensitive to the sunlight which only enhanced my desire to sleep more. Over all the infection did not appear to change in the 3 1/2 days on the antibiotic but that is not to say it did not work. I just was not able to function on it therefore I called my doctor for something else."

For Acne "I had mild to severe back acne with constant breakouts on my chest and face. My dermotologist prescribed me this specifically for my back acne but thank goodness it cleared up my face and chest! Before on a scale of 1-10 my face and chest were around a 7 but after being on the medication it's now a 1. My face/chest is now flawless and my back is now only left with scars. My back acne was extremely terrible but after using the medication for a few months, it stopped the breakouts and gave time for my skin to heal. I've used this medication for a little over one year now and I do admit you have to be patient with the medicine. As long as you don't pick and touch your problem spots then it should work nicely. I experienced nausea every morning when I take the medication and a loss in appetite but it's not that bad."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I went to the Dr and was prescribed Bactrim for a urinary tract infection. I initially took it on a empty stomach which was a mistake. Taking it with food, even crackers, prevents nausea, and most other side effects. I am on my 3rd full day of taking it and I have no relief from my symptoms. I'm waiting for my culture to come back and will call my Dr for something else if necessary."

For Bacterial Skin Infection "I have been having skin infections on my breasts off and on for 6 yrs. Ever since I developed mastitis when I was breastfeeding. I've been given Bactrim DS each time and advised to use Neosporin CREAM, not ointment. I'm not sure if it works all that great. It DOES take care of the red, rashy looking inflammation surrounding the "boil"/"blister", but does not seem to even really touch the actual blister itself. Without medication it will take 3 - 4 weeks or so to heal, with meds it it takes 2 weeks. I think it has alot to do with the healing of the red rash part... so I continue to take it. The only side effect I have noticed is an almost unquenchable thirst. But, no nausea, insomnia or headaches for me."

For Bacterial Skin Infection "I found that within a day of taking Bactrim the infection got better, which was GREAT because I had had it for a while. I experienced a few side effects, dizziness, lack of energy, insomnia if I took the pill a few hours before bed (I found to overcome this I took the pill just before going to sleep) and headaches but they seemed to dissipate after 2-3 days."

For Sinusitis "I just wanted to pop in and say Bactrim is a Sulpha drug. A lot of people are allergic to Sulpha and some are allergic to the trimethoprim part as well. Those of you having a reaction, this is probably why. You also need to tell your Dr you're allergic to Sulpha drugs or trimethoprim so they don't prescribe you any! Be well!"

For Bacterial Infection "My 83-yr old father took only five (5) pills over the course of a few days and ended up in the hospital in acute renal failure and 103 degree fever. This man was not on any medications prior to taking Bactrim DS and was still working. His kidney functions have not returned to normal, his blood platelets are critically low, his blood pressure is now elevated, as well as his blood glucose. His whole life has changed for the worse all because of five (5) Bactrim pills. I just hope he's on the road to recovery."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Got a pretty nasty UTI ... I've had them before so I knew the drill. Went to the Dr. The infection was confirmed. He prescribed Bactrim DS, twice a day for 7 days. I read the information provided by the pharmacist so I knew what to look for in case of a problem & took the first dose. I did have a few side effects, dizziness, mild nausea, and my blood sugar was off, but the infection felt better by the end of day 1. I can deal with mild side effects if it means fixing a larger problem. Pros & cons to everything! I would take it again if needed."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Worst thing ever. I feel like I’m anchored to the floor, headache, feel as though my face is on fire, and it’s not helping the UTI. The kicker? Called the doctor and was told these are normal side effects and not an allergy. Never again."

For Urinary Tract Infection "3 days of Bactrim DS for a UTI. The only problem I had was fatigue. I took the pill with a good amount of food, and also used Monistat while I was taking it. Also had asked my doc for diflucan for post treatment. I’m waiting for the Bactrim to completely leave my system before taking the 1 diflucan pill. Also, I took a molybdenum supplement while taking Bactrim. Some people react to sulphur because they are deficient in molybdenum, which helps process it. Finally, took a good amount of probiotics which I will continue for awhile."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I did experience some of the side effects associated with this medication, Headaches and asthma flare up (manageable). The benefit of the antibiotic far out weighs the side effects of the medication. I would definitely use it again if ever prescribed."

For Acne "I am 24 years old and have struggled with hormonal acne for the past year. I turned into a hermit. I tried a few things with my GP- changed my pill to Estelle- waited 3 months but nothing changed, it only worsened, tried many many many face washes, was prescribed Eryacne and doxycycline, which helped for a short period of time until it came back. I had had enough and decided to get a referral to a dermatologist- I wish I had done this sooner! He gave me Bactrim, which I was to take twice a day for 2 months as well as Epiduo gel. This combination was my saviour! I am now down to 1 tablet a day for another 2 months using Epiduo every second night. This is amazing and cleared up my acne but it does make you VERY sensitive to the sun."

For Bacterial Skin Infection "I have been taking Bactrim DS for an infection in my toe from a pedicure. It's been 4 days of not feeling human. I'm terribly exhausted. It feels like trying to stay awake after taking NyQuil. After day 2 I started getting bad headaches. I'm only on it for seven days so I'm going to suffer through it but the side effects are almost unbearable."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Taking it now for a UTI. I was on Macrobid (nitrofurantoin) for a day or so first and woke up with chills, fever and vomiting. Doc said she thought I was having a negative reaction to the med so switched to Bactrim. This is working on the infection but I've got extreme dizziness and fatigue as side effects. I have a history of having trouble with antibiotics, however--can't take penicillin or any of the cillins, due to reacting with hives. Had a bad reaction to Doxycycline and/or Metronidazole last year (itchy "bruises" formed on my limbs). Obviously now nitrofurantoin is also off the menu. So I'm going with Bactrim because at least I'm not having flu-like symptoms with it. They say about one in 15 people has issues with antibiotics. I'm the one!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed this drug for a bladder infection. Took it’s Thursday night I was fine all day Friday. I have an Apple Watch so I did notice my heart rate was higher, but was busy at work so didn’t really pay attention till day 3 felt better as far as the bladder infection. But had the worst headache and anxiety and my pulse was 134 normally like 84 I was very anxious called my doctor and was told to stop taking it. I stopped and today the next day my pulse is back to normal and headache is gone. It helped clear up my infection... I mean besides the heart racing it did it’s job."

For Urinary Tract Infection "1. Don't drink alcohol with Bactrim. 2. Eat a half hour before you take the pill. 3. Drink plenty of water with it. 4. Take an anti-gas pill if needed. About 30 minutes after 1st dose My scalp was tingly & warm. Like a cap was squeezing head. Used ice pack, repeated a few hrs later; it helped. (worried about hives.) Stomach mildly upset. Insomnia. First pill with lots of water 1 p.m.; ate 20" later. Second dose, ate slice bread with pill. Had severe gas (some trapped), burping; hours later took gas pill. (Really, don't wait like I did!) Next morning, still felt sick. Mildly short of breath overnight & part of the morning; unsure if med-caused or just stress from being over-tired. I take a 24-hr claritin, also had 12-hr Sudafed in system when started Bactrim. Severely stuffed up nose after Sudafed wore off; new pill took hours to work. Bactrim relieved UTI symptoms within hours. Before prescribing, doc cultured to find specific bacteria & it's drug susceptibilities."

For Acne "I've been taking Bactrim for about 2 months now, and my acne is no better or worse than before I started. I haven't experienced any negative side effects, but that doesn't really matter when I haven't experienced any effects at all."
