"I was given succinylcholine during surgery, and I told the anesthesia doctor that I didn't want the stuff to give me something else. I hurt really bad in my muscles. I know there is another product that can be used. I hate this feeling of hurting."

"I have had 5 procedures that required anesthesia. I have had gallbladder, kidney stones, and appendix removed and never had a problem with anesthesia. Yesterday I had a 6th procedure that required anesthesia, and today I’m having the worst muscle pain I’ve ever had. My legs/calve are so sore I can barely move or walk without extreme pain. Not sure what they gave me, but reading all these other comments makes me believe it was succinylcholine. I will make sure I never get that again. I was given hydrocodone for pain for the procedure I had, and it does nothing to relieve the muscle pain."

"I was given this drug for two D&Cs. The first time, I had a severe stiff neck and pain in my shoulders for 24 hours post-op. Several years later, I had this drug again, again, 24 hours post-op, I had severe pain and muscle spasms down my back and left leg. I actually went to the ER because I thought I might have a blood clot or something. They could find no reason for it and did not connect it to the anesthesia drug. The pain lasted about a week. Later, I tracked down the anesthesiologist and told him what happened. I had told him about my first adverse effect from succinylcholine, but it seems he ignored me and used it anyway. However, he did own up to the fact and told me what I experienced was fasciculations. This is not a good drug for me, and when I try to tell anesthesia about not using it, they pat my hand and say they will take care of it."

"I had to have an emergency c-section with my son in 1985. They gave me this, and it took me 17 hours to awake, and they lost my heartbeat twice during the procedure. Have not had it since."
