"I suffer with dysthymia, which is a chronic low-grade depression. I have to say, I have definitely seen an improvement since I've started taking it. It's been about 2-3 weeks now, and I'm already noticing some changes. I don't feel as 'low' all the time, and I find it easier to think positively so I can pull myself out of a negative mood. I also have much more motivation to do things; I can't think of the last time I've actually felt motivated enough to jump out of bed and get ready for the day the moment I wake up in the morning! I used to struggle to even wake up. It hasn't helped my OCD, anxiety, or BPD too much yet, but it's also only been a few weeks, so we'll see what happens ;)"

"I'd been feeling hopeless about my constant depression and anxiety, and decided to try St. John's Wort on a whim. I was extremely skeptical at first because previous medications either gave me terrible side effects or made me feel worse. However, 2 weeks in, and my mind has stopped racing, I find it easier to concentrate, and I'm feeling positive about life for the first time in years. I'm on quite a relatively low dosage at the moment (200 mg), so after this course I'll be trying 350 mg to see if there is any further improvement. Long story short, I feel a lot better! Would recommend."

"I am taking this along with Buspar for my anxiety and depression. I only had anxiety, so I was only taking Buspar, but it seems as though Buspar took away the anxiety and brought on depression. I'm against taking SSRIs or other antidepressants, so I asked my doctor first about possible interactions, then bought some St. John's Wort. Ever since, it hasn't happened to me anymore. I also have no side effects at all from it. Some people say it will give you headaches, but I've never had one. I personally believe that if you truly need this, there will be no headaches because your body needs it. But who knows, that's just my personal opinion :) It doesn't hurt to try it!"

"I have tried SSRIs and they all have bad side effects like confusion, memory loss. I feel slow, very fatigued, etc. With St. John's Wort, I feel uplifted instead of blocked out. I feel more calm and less worried. It's only been 2 days, and I feel 100 times better than anything else I've ever taken. Can't wait to see what the results will be like in a few weeks."

"I don't ever leave reviews for anything, but I felt the need to leave this. After a few trials with medication that left me fearful to try more, I researched and tried this - mostly uplifted by the no side effects angle. It's supposed to take a few weeks to work, but I noticed extreme results within a few days. It brought me out of my depression and quelled my anxiety so, so well. I think I may have had a bit of insomnia due to it, but this was cured by a cup of passionflower tea before bed. I had also lost my appetite for the better part of 2 months, losing 25 lbs. I am now eating as I had before! I did pair it with some light exercise and better eating, but that was after. I just bought a brand from a local drugstore. A ++ for this."

"With family history of mild depression, I started using St. John's wort over 10 years ago and haven't had any problems with it; however, lately I have been experiencing GERD and found out that there is a drug interaction between Omeprazole (doctor's prescription for GERD) and St. John's Wort."

"I take 1000 mg of St. John’s Wort nightly, up from 500. Prior to this, I was taking a low dose of Zoloft for the two weeks before my period to help manage my severe PMS, but I disliked the side effects. I started seeing the benefits of St. John’s after a few weeks. My PMS is a 2/10, down from a 9/10, and I noticed that my day-to-day mood improved on the whole, which was auspicious in its timing as I have traditionally found the beginning of winter and lack of daylight to take a toll on my general mental health. I did not notice any side effects from taking this, and I only increased my dosage when I switched to a bottle that had more concentrated tablets. My partner also takes it at night before sleep because he notices it has a gentle sedating quality without feeling groggy the next morning, but this doesn’t happen to me. My reading on St. John’s Wort warned it may affect the effectiveness of Xanax, which I take rarely, and it still works like before."

"I wouldn’t say I was depressed as such because I never felt ‘low.’ But I did, however, notice I was becoming increasingly irritable and had many mood swings. My partner was getting very upset with my frequent irritation and anger over the smallest of things and questions. I have been taking this for about a week, and I have noticed a massive difference in my moods. I no longer get at all irritated over small things and am much more calm and rational. My partner says I am back to my old calm self. I have had zero side effects and simply feel ‘jolly.’ I also wake up quicker and go about daily tasks much quicker. I am very impressed with this medication."

"I have severe depression, anxiety, paranoia, and borderline personality disorder. And this is the only thing to help me maintain my life. One time I ran out of St. John's Wort for almost two weeks, and I was not OK, I wasn't able to function. This saves my life and helps me to live a productive life. I still struggle with a few things, but nothing I can't handle with St. John's Wort. The only side effect I have is my vision. It's not too bad, just have to do other things to help my vision. Best stuff ever."

"I took SJW twice daily for three+ months after my doctor recommended it as an alternative to anti-depressants (I have mood instability and SAD). After a couple of months taking it regularly, I became gradually more anxious. I thought it was other stressors at the time, but eventually the anxiety was worse than it has ever been in my life, and I eventually began experiencing panic attacks and developing panic disorder and mild agoraphobia. It was very disturbing and affected me for about six months afterward. I was told by my doctor that sometimes people respond this way to SSRIs (that it ends up increasing rather than decreasing their anxiety.) Please be careful! It’s herbal, but it certainly affected me."

"I strongly recommend this for moderate depression and moderate anxiety. I had a work-related breakdown and was on sick leave for 5 months. My doctor prescribed anti-depressants a few months in. I did not take them. I wanted a more natural approach. So I tried St. John's Wort. I started feeling better about 1 to 1.5 weeks in. I’ve been uphill ever since. It’s been 2 months. I feel great. My life is back on track. So I stopped taking it last week. Mild headaches once or twice in the first week starting up, and last week when I quit cold turkey. No other side effects."

"I have been feeling down, breaking stuff, angry. I don't know what's going on within myself. I yell at everyone. I went to see my doctor, she wanted to give me drugs. I rang my aunt, she said to try something natural. So I called into our chemist. They told me to try Go Healthy St. John's Wort, so I did, and it has calmed me down. I have been on it for 3 weeks now and take it every second day. Try it."

"I started taking St. John's wort after a recommendation from a family friend. A little background. Last year, I began taking Celexa, it helped for a little bit, but two weeks ago I decided it wasn't worth it, especially because of the side effects. Anyway, I started taking St. John's wort last week and immediately feel better. More focus, more control of my mind. I would recommend this to anyone who feels like their life is out of control and is depressed because of it. I also recommend reading the book 'The Power of Now.' These two things combined have completely changed my outlook on life. Bottom line is, we all die. What's the point in being miserable all the time? This drug helps me stay balanced, and I think it will for you too if you try."

"I was diagnosed with chronic depression, and my therapist suggested I start taking meds for it. I hated the thought of taking something like that, so I went online and found these pills, and they are amazing. I bought them from Amazon. I never noticed how bad my thoughts and moods were. I couldn't be the mother my children needed me to be, and some days it would be hard for me to get out of bed or even leave the house. These pills started working within the first week of taking them. I also take 5-HTP 200 mg along with St. John's Wort, and they work wonders together. My negative thoughts are gone, and I can get up, move, and smile like I used to. I would recommend these pills to anyone, especially if you would rather have a natural alternative."

"I suddenly started thinking about life and death and about the meaning of this world, etc. I suffered from panic attacks and a bunch of phobias showed up. I started realizing that I might be suffering from moderate to borderline severe depression. I didn’t want to see the psychiatrist because I didn’t want to talk about my feelings. I didn’t recognize myself and couldn’t enjoy anything in life. So, I started taking it out on binge eating and gained 30 lbs in two months. I started with holy basil tea, and that seemed to help me with the panic attacks. However, the sadness and pessimism were still in me. Then I started taking valerian every late afternoon to tranquilize myself from anxiety. Then I found out about St. John's wort. I started drinking three cups a day of the St. John's wort tea because I read that tea gives almost immediate results compared to capsules. On the third day, I noticed that I was able to sleep through the night without the valerian, and in the morning, I was waking up happy."

"I took St. John's wort 10 years ago when I was going through the menopause, then came off them after about 1 year, felt great. Then, due to COVID, I got very depressed and had really bad anxiety. My doctor suggested antidepressants. I said no, I didn't want to go on them. I said I was going to try St. John's wort again. He does blood tests every 6 months to see if they are interfering with my other meds. Up to now, everything's fine, and I can honestly say they are a godsend. It took about 4 to 5 weeks before they kicked in, but now they have. But please check with your doctor before you start them if you are on other medications."

"I used the Kira brand of St. John's Wort because it was one of the ones used in the clinical trials done in Europe. While I feel this is a good brand of St. John's Wort, I had side effects from it which prevented me from continuing on it. I had diarrhea, gas, and abdominal pain. I was unable to continue on the medication. While I was on it, I did not see any improvement, but I was not on it long enough. Also, I should note that I was only on 300 mg and got this side effect. Perhaps I am very sensitive."

"If you are taking this herb, please save your eyesight and eye health and stop taking it. This herb cured my severe depression for 11 years. Recent eye tests are showing bad eye pressure changes, possible beginning glaucoma, cataract surgery maybe down the road. I looked up the latest research and forums, and yes, St. John's Wort causes eye problems. My eyes have felt bad for quite a while now. I'm stopping and trying saffron instead. I'm only 49, and don't want premature eye problems."

"I suffer from depression and now perimenopausal. I felt low, angry, argumentative, and struggled with everyday life. I started taking SJW, and I feel like my old self. Enjoying life again. Motivated with everyday tasks. Laughing. My husband totally agrees. Only side effect is slight stomach upset. Occasionally."

"I add 3/8 teaspoon of SJW powder to my morning smoothie along with Ashwagandha, maca, and reishi. By the 3rd day of taking SJW, I noticed a significant difference in my anxiety level and mood. I wouldn't say that I feel 'happier,' but I feel more balanced. It reminds me a bit of taking a Xanax. It's possible that my dose is a little too high. No nasty side effects for me. I've been taking it for about 10 days now, and I've been waking up every day for the last week feeling super chilled out."

"Last night, I googled over-the-counter medicine for mild to moderate anxiety and depression. Found St. John's Wort. Today, I went to Walgreen's, and the pharmacist recommended the exact same thing! I knew this would be perfect. I'm so thrilled that it's a natural herbal supplement too! The pharmacist said it would take 6 weeks to work. It's already working great. My mood is more stable, I don't feel sad or anxious about anything. I feel relaxed. My mind doesn't feel heavy. It feels clear, and it's great! I would totally recommend this product. The price was right too!"

"I began taking St. John's Wort in a low dose (300 mg in the morning). Almost immediately, I started to feel better; it elevated my mood, and my depression is about 2/10, being 1 no depression and 10 severe depression. I am now reducing my dose to zero, but I am starting to feel a bit depressed. I think I am going to continue on St. John's Wort on a dose of 150 mg daily."

"Back in 2004, a friend who I worked with told me about St. John's Wort and that she swears by it. I started out on it and stayed on it for a few years and then got off it. I realized that my mood swings came back along with anxiety. I felt restless, bored, mad, and on edge most of the time. I now have gone back to SJW with the 375's and can't be happier. My husband has trouble sleeping, and he takes them and sleeps soundly. We all have something to share, and SJW is by far the best out there."

"I took this on top of taking SAM-e for depression and fatigue. I'll put the good first. This supplement is amazing. Makes me feel much more confident, much less socially anxious, and more able to be assertive, and have no fatigue. And I am interested in things again. I feel joy from looking at the mountains and such. It started increasing my facial twitches from SAM-e, which also Ritalin brought out. SJW feels kind of like a drug like Ritalin but with a much lower up. I've got to say I feel pretty good taking it. I take 350 mg once in the morning, a double dose at 2:00, and a single dose again around 6:00. Sometimes I will take another dose around 10:00 p.m. I feel like I don't need the SAM-e anymore. Highly recommend."
