"Generalized Anxiety Disorder: 24-year-old, never suffered with anxiety, panic attacks, or disturbing intrusive thoughts before - I was terrified, didn’t understand what was going on. I initially took time off work, CBT, counseling, meditation, reiki, and Propranolol to help myself at first. Nothing took it away, so I made the decision to go onto Zoloft. The first 2 weeks, you HAVE to push through the side effects. I was constantly nauseous and at times I would vomit. But now, I’m completely back to my old self! Zoloft has really restored my mental health to the point where I am free of anxiety completely! I’ve also always had terrible PMT since I was a teenager, I have noticed that Zoloft has sorted this out for me too! When that time of the month is approaching usually, I become extremely angry and often cry about irrational things. Since being on Zoloft, I have noticed I am much calmer and happier around my cycle. It’s been like a wonder drug for me!"

"I was born in 1982 and throughout my adult life, I have had problems with anxiety. I only really knew the true extent of how bad I was until I started taking 50mg of sertraline a couple of weeks ago. I went through my life self-medicating, whether it was alcohol or going for 8-mile runs just so I could relax. I realize now I heard the word 'paranoid' pretty often, which I now realize is very close to being anxious for obvious reasons. What strikes me about some of these reviews is many say it's taken weeks to kick in. I suppose everyone is different, but I felt my life change after 1 hour after taking a tablet. I now have an aura of calmness in my life. I feel like I'm at peace and living within the moment for the first time in years."

"15 years on Zoloft and has it been a life changer. I feel great and social anxiety is 100% gone. Along with counseling take this medication and you can be the person you were meant to be. Life is too short to spend full of worry and anxiety. No side effects for me."

"I've been on Zoloft for a week now. The first 5 days, the side effects were horrible. Dizziness, stomach problems, sweating, weak muscles. Then, on the sixth day, I remember the change. All day at school, I was still experiencing the side effects and then I was in the car with my mom, and I just felt a lot happier. From then on, I've felt SO HAPPY! When I talk to people, my mind is clearer, and it's easier to socialize! I've been socially anxious my whole life. I LOVE ZOLOFT SO MUCH OMG THIS IS GONNA CHANGE MY LIFE! It's also boosting my confidence. :))))))"

"I am not the same person when I'm off this medication, the difference is nearly night and day. I'm so much happier, I have heaps more confidence, and all in all, my life just works better when I'm on it. I only came off it as a trial, but I went back on after a month, I don't like the way I am without it. I'm irritable and cry easily and obsess about everything! That has eased up so much, and I am generally much happier and more able to get on with my life :)"

"I've been on Sertraline for two years now. I was prescribed it for social anxiety, which I suffered from for as long as I can remember. It took around 3 months to start to work. The first month or two was hard. The side effects were difficult to get through. Feeling out of it, dizzy, unable to sleep, clenched jaw at night, but I stuck it out and they went away. I have no anxiety and feel comfortable in social situations now. I'm happier and get less angry. It's completely changed my life."

"I am a 39-year-old male, and I have been on Zoloft for around 2.5 months. It has been life-changing so far, for which I am extremely grateful. I am more comfortable around people during work meetings (something I found very hard previously) and my anxieties have reduced dramatically. I have also been lucky to have had almost no side effects on 50mg, just a little bruxism and occasional insomnia, but the benefits FAR outweigh these minor complaints. I scoured the internet before I started taking it, reading reviews like these, and now I wanted to share my own experience. I *highly* recommend trying Zoloft. Give it at least 7 weeks."

"I have been taking Zoloft for 1 year 4 months, and at the back of my mind, I have this niggling voice that tells me I cannot be on this medicine forever. Zoloft changed my life, saved my marriage and kids, and gave me back my life and laughter. If it was not for Zoloft, I would have jumped off a bridge by now! Why I rated it 9/10 is because I have gained 9 pounds since I have been on it, and the pounds are just refusing to fall off. Very increased appetite due to being sane and happy, hanging out, having good and bad food, and having my glass of wine! I'd rather be fat and happy than thin and miserable."

"I am taking Zoloft for social anxiety, depression, OCD (27 yo F). I have to start out by saying I had TERRIBLE side effects for the 1.5 months (nausea, dizziness, migraines, panic attacks) to the point where I almost stopped taking the tablet. I persisted, and 7 months on Zoloft have completely changed my life. I have had depression and OCD for years, and anxiety had started to take over my life. After the initial symptoms subsided, I feel like a better, confident, and much happier version of my former self. Like many others, it's hard to explain what I mean. It's the best thing I've ever done! Please try to persist!"

"Absolutely amazing. I highly recommend it. I never used to talk to anyone, and as soon as I started Zoloft, I made so many new friends and actually talk to people! Instead of sitting in my room being depressed and having anxiety attacks. It really works."

"I finally asked about going on meds for anxiety after a rough year of being victims of a home invasion and our house flooding. I wanted something to take the edge off as I felt like any little thing would send me spiraling. My doc prescribed 25mg of Zoloft. The first day I felt a little high and had diarrhea. The second day I felt tired. The third day I slept through the night for the first time in months. I felt like a new person. Then the exhaustion crept in, the worst being exactly a week in. It felt like someone put a wet blanket over my brain. I read the message board and felt encouraged to keep going. Today marks exactly a month on Zoloft. The spiraling is no more. I don’t fixate on issues like I used to, and even when our dryer died and a pipe on our softener burst in the same week, I felt like I handled it well. All in all, I’m thankful I tried this as I’m hoping it gets me back to seeing that, despite some unfortunate circumstances, I’m very blessed and should enjoy every moment."

"I have been on Zoloft for about 10 weeks. 25mg the first week, 50mg a day thereafter. At week 6, I still felt lousy with depression and extreme anxiety. I did not have any side effects at all though. Then, magically after the 6-week mark, I overnight transformed into a social butterfly. I could connect with people, had better concentration, no panic attacks at all after years of attacks. Nothing was any trouble for me whereas before it was all so hard. The depression was gone, and I actually felt happier than I have been since I was 20. I am 58 now. I am also physically much better than before. People have really noticed a difference, and so have I. It is the best thing that ever happened to me, and I wish I had been on it 30 years ago."

"I'm 20, and on my fifth day on sertraline, and I'm already feeling great! I have generalized anxiety and social anxiety, which had caused me to feel extremely nervous even around close friends and family. I hardly spoke in groups, and people thought that I was just being quiet because I was a quiet person, when really, I was just afraid that my voice would shake and make me look stupid. My first two days on sertraline were a bit tough. I had a presentation which caused me a lot of anxiety, even more than usual (maybe because of the new chemicals in my body). But somehow, my presentation was very successful, and after it was over, I felt so accomplished. Since then I am noticing some fantastic changes. I'm becoming optimistic about my life."

"I had really debilitating social anxiety and depression before starting to take Zoloft. After about 2.5 months on 200mg a day, I can honestly say that I feel 100% better. I can now leave the house, go do things with my family, and am no longer suicidal. Life hasn't been this good in years."

"I've been on Zoloft for probably about 4 months now, and it has absolutely SAVED my life. I was so hesitant to get on it again (I was on it previously about 5 years ago from ages 14-18 for OCD - which it worked well for that, too), but I wish I had done it sooner! My social anxiety is practically gone, and I'm actually for once excited about my future instead of terrified. I can talk to people and be myself, and I actually LIKE myself now!! Whereas before, I was convinced I was a worthless nobody. I'm much more confident in myself and my abilities, and if somebody doesn't like me, it no longer bothers me because I like me. I haven't felt this normal in 5 years. Thank you, Zoloft."

"After having several panic attacks over a 12-month period, I was prescribed Zoloft. I had no idea that it would also help with so many other problems which I just thought were variations of 'normal.' I started on 25mg in the morning but found it made me feel tired, so I changed to taking it before bed. Miraculously, I was able to fall asleep within a few minutes instead of the usual 30 to 60 minutes. I also stayed asleep through the night, rarely waking but easily returning to sleep when I did. I felt less agitated and irritated by what now seems like fairly trivial things. Big problems in life still exist, but they do not dominate my mind every waking moment. I no longer feel embarrassed in social situations and just feel generally content."

"I have tried other anti-anxiety medications but they gave me terrible side effects. Zoloft has almost completely taken away my anxiety, and the only side effect I have is sleep loss that is corrected by a sleep aid. I am so much happier, and my life has been so much better since being on this medication. I experienced this almost right away after starting the medication. I didn't realize how much my anxiety had really been affecting my life until I started using Zoloft."

"I have suffered with generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder since I can remember. I got prescribed these at 50mg 3 weeks ago. The first few days I got a horrible cold nausea feeling in the pit of my stomach. I had no appetite and I noticed straightaway that it took me longer to orgasm. 3 months into them, I still feel anxious, but for the first time since I can remember, I was able to present to a group without shaking, losing my voice, and my heart beating rapidly. It almost feels like a small weight has been lifted which gives you that control back over my thoughts. I was able to say 'put your best into it. You will be fine' and I believed it. This is only a small step to overcoming my anxiety but this medication has helped me a lot."

"I felt the change after the first dose, and now I can live again. I was always so scared to even leave the house. I was always so jealous of my wife, thinking she would cheat or that someone was talking about me, always afraid of what people thought. I look back now and think, who was that person? Now with all kinds of energy, my sex life is so much better. I am losing weight, I was an emotional eater. That's gone. I am a new man, I am a better person. Zoloft saved my life and my marriage. I am so focused now, I have accomplished more in 6 months than in 6 years. Not really any side effects that are bad, other than a little tremble once in a while, and I can't sleep sometimes."

"I've been on Zoloft for nearly two years now. I have anxiety and depression and it's worked WONDERS to reduce it. I've gradually increased the dose and now I'm on 150mg. The difference is HUGE. Me off Zoloft= Crying, paranoid, mess of a human being. Me on Zoloft= Joyful, outgoing human being with a sense of humor who can finally enjoy life! Also, the side effects are basically nonexistent. When I first started it, everything kind of made me want to throw up, like a morning sickness-type thing, and I lost like 5 pounds. Now, that's not a problem, it's gone. As far as side effects go, Zoloft is one of the least problematic antidepressants you can take. So it's worked for me! It's changing my life."

"After nearly 20 years of anxiety and depression, I am finally free. Zoloft has improved my life beyond belief. No more blushing, feeling uncomfortable, or uneasy. The first 2 weeks were tough (nausea, loss of appetite, trembling, etc.), but boy am I glad I stuck it out. A 100mg pill to a new life. I thank god every day that I found a doctor and a medication that have given me my life back. A night and day difference."

"I have been on Zoloft now for 5 weeks at 25 mg. The first 2 weeks, I had bad side effects: nausea, stomach pain, and I lost my appetite. Since the first week, I was feeling so calm, my anxiety was gone. Now, my anxiety has come back, and I really do not want to increase my dose. Does anyone know if the anxiety goes away? Is this normal? Also, what about having a glass of wine? Are you able to drink?"

"I have suffered for about 20 years with extreme social anxiety. I used to drink (way too much) just to get through family and friend functions, to the point where I would not go at all to them as I got too drunk and made a worse fool of myself. But since my doctor prescribed Zoloft to me, although it has taken nearly a year to feel the relaxed normal feeling that most people have, I now go out and focus on the people talking. Usually, I’m more preoccupied with my nerves. Now I don’t even realize I’m not anxious and moving around in my seat or talking too fast, hoping no one would talk to me as I would get red, stutter, and be embarrassed. From my experience, I would highly recommend it. It does take a while, but if you, like me, avoided social experiences, it’s worth the wait. xx"

"Without a doubt, this medication changed my life. I have dealt with social anxiety disorder and generalized anxiety for the past 15 years or so, and have tried every kind of cognitive behavioral therapy I possibly can, without noticeable results. The reason for this being that I couldn't take the information I was given and use it because my anxiety was so out of control. I never realized how much anxiety I truly had until this medication kicked in. For the first time ever, I'm able to hold conversations with people and have my own personal opinions on things, rather than coming up with opinions that work to please other people. Yes, the side effects for the first 2 weeks are hard to bear, but if you stick with it you will likely not regret it."

"I have been on Zoloft 25-150 mg for over 2 years. This has been the BEST 2 years of your life. Let me say that it took at least 90 days to really kick in and side effects to abate. If you have spent YEARS obsessed about your every action and thought, fearful and angry, depressed the 90 days of side effects is NOTHING. NOW if you want to keep living the way you are living because of dreams, diarrhea, INITIAL loss of appetite and weight loss then so be it. Improvement takes time. I was a 10-year Paxil user. Have TRIED lithium, Prozac, Luvox, tegretol, Xanax, Valium, Alcohol, illegal drugs, supplements, buspar, Klonopin and on and on. ZOLOFT gives me a chance at life. I am still me with growing up issues at 50 plus but man, this ZOLOFT is the deal."
