"I was originally prescribed Sertraline for my anxiety and depression, and only got diagnosed with BPD afterwards. My dosage got bumped up from 75mg to 125mg and all I’ve been noticing is that my symptoms are getting worse. My mood swings have been more frequent and more intense. I haven’t been able to pay attention to my anxiety and depression since, well, my anger and my other symptoms have just been terrible."

"I started using sertraline almost 4 months ago to help with my BPD comorbidities (depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD). In the first 3 weeks, I felt worse with intense flashbacks, heightened anxiety, tight chest, difficulty breathing, and deep sadness, but after that I started feeling much more stable: the suicidal thoughts reduced drastically less intense racing mind, increased motivation and energy level. I started with 50mg, but the doctor increased my dosage to 0,75g."

"Was on 50/100/150mg and I was ok, they were actually quite good for my depression not my BPD tho. I'm now on 200mg of sertraline and I feel sick, lightheaded, terrible concentration. I get tongue tied, tired, drowsy and have done every day for 3 months. I'm numb 1 day, then absolute psycho the next. I want to change medication but everything else piles weight on me. I was diagnosed over a year ago with borderline personality disorder. I used to get mirtazipine, propranolol and quetiapine but came off them due to weight gain. Propranolol the drs realised I shouldn't be taken threw other reasons n stopped them."

"I’m 19 & Currently on 200mg a day. I feel very up and down with this medication. One day I’m fine, next day I feel like the world is ending. At first it helped, but now I’m not so sure."

"It helped me for a year, then it just didn't work for me. I use sertraline to keep me stable. My ups and downs have gotten more severe, my doctor prescribed me 150mg/day but it doesn't help me at all."

"75mg sertraline daily which helped greatly with depressive symptoms, but drastically increased impulsivity, irritability, and intense mood fluctuations. For me the negatives outweighed the positives."

"I had one 50mg of the generic brand sertraline from Milpharm, ( had Zoloft in past with little side effects). I started and took just one dose and within a couple hours I was really nauseous, jaw clenching, heart racing and thumping, couldn’t keep still, pupils dilated, insomnia, crazy thoughts ( not suicidal but just random looping vivid images in my head). It was horrendous. My skin felt like it was burning/prickling. That feeling lasted 24 hours, I took some Zopiclone the night after and I’ve woke up feeling better. Doctor and Psychiatrist both said to stop immediately. I have read that some docs/psychs tell patients to ride these side effects out for the 2 weeks. I’m glad they told me to stop. I did wonder whether it was because the brand was different because the last time taking the Zoloft brand it was nothing like that and actually the medication worked as I was told and had a positive experience on it."
