"This drug is extremely new, barely covered by any insurance and was pushed hard by my doctor. The taste is indescribably bad, which would not matter if it worked but it did not. I have no sensitivity to any drug and can use just about anything. I am not sure if this thing cured my BV since four days later, I'm going back to the doc so she can take care of every one of the first four listed side effects of the drug, too gross to mention here. It seems easier because it is one dose but it truly isn't worth it."

"This medication was expensive as it was not covered by my insurance. I paid $75 with a coupon from my OBGYN. The taste was absolutely horrible. Unfortunately, this medication did not work at all! In fact, it made things much worse. I will try boric acid suppositories now."

"This is the only medication I will take for this problem. It works fast and I can tell the difference after the 1st 24hrs. It tastes nasty but what medicine tastes good? Put it in your yogurt and swallow!! Don't chew it just SWALLOW!! NO MORE using creams for 5-7 days and no pill twice a day for 5-7days... I'll choose this every single time! Use online coupons to get it cheap."

"I got BV for the first time and got prescribed this stuff. I was kinda nervous going into it but I got my dairy free yogurt and poured the packet in the cup. I wasn’t sure if I should mix it and realised I shouldn’t after my first bite. It was extremely bitter for me and after the third bite I started to gag and my body rejected the idea of swallowing. I haven’t thrown up in 12 years (it’s an irrational fear) and I was just praying I wouldn’t throw it up. I got most of it down but there were still some beads left so hopefully I ate enough to cure my symptoms."

"I took this about 5 years ago because of a case of recurring BV (compliments of my IUD) it worked but it came back later on. It took me a while to convince my doctor to take out my IUD because he was insisting it wasn’t the problem (turns out it was.) Then I was free of BV for years and for some reasons it came back in May. Tried every OTC meds and nothings worked. My doctor said I could either take Flagyl or Solosec. I was super scared of taking the latter so I did vaginal flagyl which didn’t work. After some test results that showed I had Atopobium Vaginae and Gardnerella Vaginalis and no more Dordelein I decided to give it a go cause whatever the side effects it couldn’t be worse than having a vagina that smells like rotten meat. I took it and… few hours later the BV slowly cleared. Did not experience any side effects - I did not drink alcohol for about 5 days just to be on the safe side."

"This is my first time using this product Solosec. It is unfortunate the Rx is very expensive(146.00) however, I was desperate to find something that works. After reading the reviews, I was a little discouraged but decided to go for it anyway. I use Solosec last night. I mixed the medicine in with two different flavors of Activia (pineapple/strawberry). I scoffed it down really fast so that I slightly tasted it. So far no real side effects other than a nasty after taste in my mouth. Not sure how well the product is working but I don’t smell an odor as of now. If and/or when my condition changes I will update. As of now, I’d purchase again for the peace of mind that I have at the moment"

"I was told to eat this in applesauce since I am vegan. It tastes horrible! The first day was fine but I woke up the second day absolutely nauseous. I don’t drink so it wasn’t from that. I was sick all day. Then the day after that I had terrible pelvic pain to where It hurt so bad to move and I just felt terrible."

"I have taken this medicine on two different occasions and they worked for me both times. I mixed it in with applesauce and swallowed it without taking any bites. I also took it on a full stomach so it would prevent me from being nauseous just in case. Other than the unpleasant taste of the medication. I was absolutely fine. Sometimes you can work yourself up over reading other people reviews as everybody bodies will not have the same reaction to a medication. On the other hand I have tried other medications like metronidazole which gave me horrible headaches along with making me feel extremely nauseous so imagine dealing with that for 7 days straight. So with that being said I would definitely recommend solosec to anyone. This one time dose is amazing but the choice is yours."

"I can’t share any information as far as effectiveness of Solosec goes yet, but I wanted to comment on the taste. I read a lot of reviews here and was really nervous to take this! I mixed it in an applesauce cup and scooped portions of it into a shot glass expecting the worst. Maybe I did it wrong, but I didn’t notice any significant flavor difference to the applesauce. I have had a head cold over the last week, but I think my sense of taste/smell is generally fine at this point. I would say be really careful not to chew the granules. I hope this works!"

"Ok so I wanted to write this review to help everyone who is nervous about taking this as I was after reading the scary reviews. First off, I had absolutely zero side effects I felt completely normal. The medicine does taste gross but I took it with yogurt and it wasn’t a big deal. I did not drink alcohol for a week just to be sure. The BV cleared but it did give me a yeast infection which I treated with over the counter medication. Unfortunately my BV came back after my next period but I am going to try boric acid suppositories this time. Best of luck."

"The taste wasn't great, but definitely manageable. I don't know why it's marketed that one can drink while taking it, because my experience and other reviews (which I should have read ahead of time) say otherwise. Took it on Christmas Eve, had a few glasses of wine and spent the entire night and next day vomiting profusely. After about 2 days the nausea went away. However, about a week later I'm now feeling some itching and discomfort down there. Apparently another possible side affect is a yeast infection but I'm praying the vaginal infection gods will take pity on me and spare me..."

"I have just taken this within the past hour and can only comment on the taste, but will comment back as to whether or not it worked. I read the reviews and kept reading about the taste being bad. I figured it would be bad, but bearable. I bought applesauce...I would recommend something like chocolate pudding or something. The taste is much worse than expected. It wouldn't be so bad if the dosage wasn't so big. It's a lot in that little package. It took me 4 cups of applesauce and I'm still not done. Yuck! But I want to get rid of the BV so in between gagging I'll wash it down with whatever I can. If there is a next time I may just ask for the cream?? Also, my insurance was cancelled so I had to pay for my appointment out of pocket today...but the doctor was super nice and gave me a coupon for a free dose. So I didn't pay anything! Thank goodness! He said it is over $100"

"Okay so I’ve taken this twice. I work in OB/GYN and this medication is a great alternative for many people. The first time I don’t remember any side effects. Yes, horrible taste. I’ve mixed it with applesauce both times and you definitely want to shove it in and swallow ASAP until it’s gone. I had one patient who opened the packet too quickly and the granules spilled all over so becareful! The second time I took this... yikes. I took it on a Thursday night. Friday night I had a work event where I consumed two White Claw drinks and shot of fireball over a 3 hour time span. I ended up the rest of the night vomiting about 5x in a 3-4 hour span. Nothing else was wrong with me which is why I’m positive it has to be the medication. I was finally okay the next morning. This medication is not supposed to interact with alcohol like metronidazole does but I don’t necessarily believe that after my experience so just be careful!"

"Just took Solosec for the first time. I mixed it with Greek yogurt. Taste was not pleasant but it’s tolerable. I will give an update as far as it working. Praying I don’t get a yeast infection since been fighting a two month battle with yeast. Currently on diflucan and Nystain so praying this will be enough to fight the yeast. Taking a probiotic “Azo” daily also so hopefully this will help with yeast issue and digestion issues."

"I wish I had read the reviews before taking this medication. I took Solosec around 2 pm today. It was bitter but fine. The doctor said it was fine to drink alcohol while taking it so I had two beers throughout the evening. Now I’m projectile vomiting typing this from the floor of my bathroom. Reading the previous reviews I do not look forward to the next few hours/ days."

"Around 2pm I sprinkled this on top of some jello, wrong call! But then I mixed in some yogurt and was good. I know that normally you’re not supposed to drink while taking antibiotics but there was no warning against this and since I’d never had medicine like this I thought maybe it was a new thing. Went out for daiquiris around 4 pm. Came home, slept off that daiquiri, and then around 11pm started feeling very nauseous. Then began vomiting every where. After my stomach was empty, it started out the other end. It’s now 10am the next day, and the smell of food is making me semi-nauseous. But I’m taking very small bites of toast hoping that will absorb any left over alcohol and calm my stomach."

"I literally just finished taking it and I had to warn people. The taste is HORRIBLE! I tried to get the smallest cup of yogurt to put it in because I knew it would be difficult to swallow. I literally had to take breaks of rinsing out my mouth just to finish it. For what I just went through, it better work wonders!"

"I took Solosec in yogurt and It still had a awful taste to it. I read there were no contraindications to drinking alcohol on this so I had a beer. But that evening I did not feel well. Abdominal pain and nausea. I thought it may be the alcohol. But every time I eat my stomach blows up and I feel off. I’m very fatigued and unable to do my normal activities. I can’t wait for this to get out of my system. I can’t tell yet if my BV symptoms are gone they were found incidentally on a regular pap."

"DONT DO IT! This is the worst tasting thing that has ever been in my mouth. I can’t describe it. It’s just DISGUSTING! I couldn’t even finish it without throwing up. It was originally $353 but with my coupon I paid $25 complete waste of money. PLEASE don’t take this medicine just take the 7 day pill. I feel so sick. I thought maybe I shouldn’t have mixed with yogurt but I see from the reviews it wouldn’t have mattered."

"Just took it. Taste was not bad at all. I took it with vanilla yogurt. I will let you know in a few days how I feel. I have been suffering with BV off & on for years, I finally found an OB whom is trying to help me. I pray this works. Cost me $69 with insurance & coupon but if it works would have paid anything for relief."

"Honestly this medication is a God send for me. I struggle with BV almost every time I get my period and I felt like when I wasn’t bleeding, I was taking giant horse pills to try to clear up my BV. The traditional medicine made me so sick. I was constantly nauseous, which would affect my ability to go out with friends, exercise, work, etc. not to mention constantly missing out on social events because you can’t drink three days before or after taking these meds. The one dose made me feel like I got my life back. I hate how expensive it is, but maybe one day insurance will cover it for me!"

"I just want to know why in a matter of months I now pay 3x what I used to pay for Solosec? It is really sad that a medicine that works so well for me I cannot even afford anymore because my insurance doesn’t cover it and now this company has decided to raise the cost with the savings card. I’m so disappointed. I get chemical burns and bad yeast infections from using the standard Flagyl for my recurring BV. But now I will have to go back to that medication or just smell fishy and uncomfortable. I’m so disappointed."

"Used to have BV all the freaking time even with no sexual partners and just eating a sugary snack would throw off my body and boom! BV. Decided to try this and it worked! However have a strong tasting edible near by like a coke/dr. pepper or even a slim jim to rid of the taste and for the love of God do not chew! just gulp it down because I promise chewing makes the worst taste become unbearable to where I kept gagging."

"I have struggled with chronic BV for over 15 years. I used to get BV after every period and tried everything on the market. I was so frustrated with my doctors because they kept prescribing the same antibiotics, and it just kept occurring. After reading a medical journal, I found Solosec and asked my doctor to prescribe it. Luckily, after using the co-pay card and insurance, it was $25. I mixed it with applesauce and saw relief after the first 24 hours. I did experience fatigue, nausea, and headaches, but I was BV-free for 6 months!! I just took my 2nd dose of Solosec, and hopefully, it will work for a prolonged period of time again. If you're frustrated and have had it and feel like you have tried everything - you're not alone. Give this a try, and I hope you find relief soon!"

"I was prescribed Solosec for Bacterial Vaginitis. Very, very nasty taste could barely get it down with my applesauce but I did not want to waste the medicine as it was VERY expensive. Gross metallic taste. It has only been3 hours since taking it so hopefully I have no side effects."
