"This is my first time using this product, Solosec. It is unfortunate the Rx is very expensive (146.00), however, I was desperate to find something that works. After reading the reviews, I was a little discouraged but decided to go for it anyway. I used Solosec last night. I mixed the medicine in with two different flavors of Activia (pineapple/strawberry). I scoffed it down really fast so that I slightly tasted it. So far, no real side effects other than a nasty aftertaste in my mouth. Not sure how well the product is working, but I don’t smell an odor as of now. If and/or when my condition changes, I will update. As of now, I’d purchase again for the peace of mind that I have at the moment."

"I gave SOLOSEC a 5 rating for now... just because the taste was terrible. I’ve read every single review I could find about this, and let me tell you it’s definitely not a walk in the park to get it all down. Took me the whole 30 minutes that it tells you you need to consume it by on the packet after you put it in the yogurt. I have been having BV and yeast infections on and off for over a year. I’ve been on amoxicillin, metrogel, oral metronidazole, clindamycin cream, tinidazole cream, I’ve tried every home remedy from ACV douche to boric acid to tea tree oil to hydrogen peroxide and more. Nothing works. After reading all the reviews and being completely fed up with not feeling normal down there, I decided to ask my doctor about this. I took it today with diflucan and will use boric acid for a week. I will write another review in one week to see if it works. Pray for me, ladies!!!!"

"I was told to eat this in applesauce since I am vegan. It tastes horrible! The first day was fine, but I woke up the second day absolutely nauseous. I don’t drink, so it wasn’t from that. I was sick all day. Then, the day after that, I had terrible pelvic pain to where it hurt so bad to move, and I just felt terrible."

"I just took this packet about 20 minutes ago, and I will say the taste is NOT pleasant! I took it with applesauce but HIGHLY recommend chocolate pudding to best mask the taste. As soon as I finished my bowl of applesauce, I felt nauseous and had a headache. 10 mins later, it's all gone, it really is a mind-over-matter type of situation. Also, DO NOT DRINK!! I am 99% sure you will vomit. I read all the reviews, and everyone who drank (even a little) threw up for hours. Yes, it says you can drink, but why even risk it since you're on an antibiotic??? ALSOOOOO, this drug is EXPENSIVE, like $350 expensive, my insurance brought it down to $113. Thennnnnn I found a coupon on the Solosec website that brought it down to $45!! I wish you all the luck with these meds. Also praying I don't get sick, cause vomit is NOT my thing!"

"This medicine was supposed to be the more convenient option. I went to 3 pharmacies and had to wait 4 days to get the medicine. Then I mixed it with a chunky yogurt to hopefully mask the texture of the granular medication, but I was wrong. Woah, the taste was so bitter. I read reviews and decided to add honey. I kept adding honey until it was okay enough to get it down and chase it with lemonade. This helped a little. Still very nauseous."

"This medication was expensive, as it was not covered by my insurance. I paid $75 with a coupon from my OBGYN. The taste was absolutely horrible. Unfortunately, this medication did not work at all! In fact, it made things much worse. I will try boric acid suppositories now."

"I can’t share any information as far as effectiveness of Solosec goes yet, but I wanted to comment on the taste. I read a lot of reviews here and was really nervous to take this! I mixed it in an applesauce cup and scooped portions of it into a shot glass expecting the worst. Maybe I did it wrong, but I didn’t notice any significant flavor difference to the applesauce. I have had a head cold over the last week, but I think my sense of taste/smell is generally fine at this point. I would say be really careful not to chew the granules. I hope this works!"

"Just took it. Taste was not bad at all. I took it with vanilla yogurt. I will let you know in a few days how I feel. I have been suffering with BV off and on for years, I finally found an OB who is trying to help me. I pray this works. Cost me $69 with insurance and coupon, but if it works, I would have paid anything for relief."

"I have just taken this within the past hour and can only comment on the taste, but will comment back as to whether or not it worked. I read the reviews and kept reading about the taste being bad. I figured it would be bad, but bearable. I bought applesauce... I would recommend something like chocolate pudding or something. The taste is much worse than expected. It wouldn't be so bad if the dosage wasn't so big. It's a lot in that little package. It took me 4 cups of applesauce, and I'm still not done. Yuck! But I want to get rid of the BV, so in between gagging I'll wash it down with whatever I can. If there is a next time, I may just ask for the cream?? Also, my insurance was canceled, so I had to pay for my appointment out of pocket today... but the doctor was super nice and gave me a coupon for a free dose. So I didn't pay anything! Thank goodness! He said it is over $100."

"I used chocolate pudding, mixed it up. I took large spoonfuls, put it in the back of my throat, and instantly swallowed it. I did not give it a chance to sit in my mouth, and it was not bad. I honestly hardly tasted it, and I finished it after 4 spoonfuls. I took it an hour ago, so I don’t have results for you."

"I just want to know why, in a matter of months, I now pay 3x what I used to pay for Solosec? It is really sad that a medicine that works so well for me, I cannot even afford anymore because my insurance doesn’t cover it, and now this company has decided to raise the cost with the savings card. I’m so disappointed. I get chemical burns and bad yeast infections from using the standard Flagyl for my recurring BV. But now I will have to go back to that medication or just smell fishy and uncomfortable. I’m so disappointed."

"I took the med 4 days ago with Chobani yogurt and did not find the taste intolerable and finished the dose in less than a minute. I started to feel nauseous the next day but did not vomit at all. The second day, I felt very weak and had no appetite all day. I found gingersnaps to calm my stomach some. Then, the last two days, I have forced myself to eat as I get very weak if I don’t, but have no appetite and energy levels well under par. I have not consumed any alcohol and still have nausea, as others have stated. Also, the area felt somewhat irritated while I sat in a chair. I don't know if this med has effectively treated the infection, but I would not opt to take this product again as it has affected my normal quality of life."

"Used to have BV all the freaking time even with no sexual partners, and just eating a sugary snack would throw off my body, and boom! BV. Decided to try this, and it worked! However, have a strong-tasting edible nearby, like a Coke/Dr. Pepper or even a Slim Jim, to rid of the taste, and for the love of God, do not chew! Just gulp it down because I promise chewing makes the worst taste become unbearable to where I kept gagging."

"I have struggled with chronic BV for over 15 years. I used to get BV after every period and tried everything on the market. I was so frustrated with my doctors because they kept prescribing the same antibiotics, and it just kept occurring. After reading a medical journal, I found Solosec and asked my doctor to prescribe it. Luckily, after using the co-pay card and insurance, it was $25. I mixed it with applesauce and saw relief after the first 24 hours. I did experience fatigue, nausea, and headaches, but I was BV-free for 6 months!! I just took my 2nd dose of Solosec, and hopefully, it will work for a prolonged period of time again. If you're frustrated and have had it and feel like you have tried everything - you're not alone. Give this a try, and I hope you find relief soon!"

"Around 2 PM, I sprinkled this on top of some jello, wrong call! But then I mixed in some yogurt and was good. I know that normally you’re not supposed to drink while taking antibiotics, but there was no warning against this, and since I’d never had medicine like this, I thought maybe it was a new thing. Went out for daiquiris around 4 PM. Came home, slept off that daiquiri, and then around 11 PM started feeling very nauseous. Then began vomiting everywhere. After my stomach was empty, it started out the other end. It’s now 10 AM the next day, and the smell of food is making me semi-nauseous. But I’m taking very small bites of toast, hoping that will absorb any leftover alcohol and calm my stomach."

"Do not drink any amount of alcohol. I didn’t read this anywhere on the package or labeling. Had 5 oz beer 24 hours later and had severe vomiting and diarrhea 3 hours later. I was vomiting up the granular balls. It was so disgusting. Never again."

"Used to treat BV. To start, I'm allergic/have reactions to Flagyl, which is the same class of medication. I tried the gel inserts, same class as well. I used 1 dose (literally 5 mins after inserting) and had the same reactions. So I was sent this, same class... now I'm terrified to take it. I figured 1 day is better than 4 more of the gel. I bit the bullet. I put it in 1 container of chocolate pudding, mixed, fist bite... gross. So I mixed again, scooped, swallowed, gone in maybe 4 scoops. Just don't breathe through your nose. Have water on standby to rinse and swallow. Easy, done. That was last night. Immediately, I lay down for bed for fear of the reactions starting. I fell asleep, no notice of any issues. Thank you, God. Waking up this morning, I feel a little groggy or off-kilter? Nothing that stops me from going about my day. A slight metallic taste in the back of my tongue through the day. I don't drink, so no issues. No nausea. Maybe a slight headache. But that's a normal day for me."

"I took Solosec in yogurt, and it still had an awful taste to it. I read there were no contraindications to drinking alcohol on this, so I had a beer. But that evening, I did not feel well: abdominal pain and nausea. I thought it may be the alcohol. But every time I eat, my stomach blows up, and I feel off. I’m very fatigued and unable to do my normal activities. I can’t wait for this to get out of my system. I can’t tell yet if my BV symptoms are gone, they were found incidentally on a regular pap."

"It worked for me. As far as taste, I didn't taste it because of the way I took it. I put applesauce on a spoon, sprinkled the packet, and added more on top, swallowed, and drank it down with juice, and I didn't taste a thing. Finished in 4 gulps. Hope this was helpful."

"Super easy to take, poured the granules in strawberry yogurt and symptoms gone in 24 hours. No side effects the first time I took it, second time I took it I was a little nauseous 2-3 days after but not bad. This is my 3rd time taking it in 2 years and it beats the messy gels or harsh antibiotics you have to take for days."

"I have taken this medication twice. Some of the reviews seem to be dramatic. I took this medication both times with yogurt. The taste is not the best but what do you expect it to taste like. Both times it fixed my BV. The first time was 2 years ago. I decided to take this medication because I was going out of town and was told by my gyno I could drink on it. I took it on a Friday night, had a margarita or two Saturday afternoon. I took a nap and woke up nauseous and throwing up. I took it 4 days ago, had some wine yesterday and have felt completely fine and my symptoms are gone. It was $75 after insurance, I found a coupon on Solosec’s website that brought it to $25"

"I’ve taken this medicine 3 times now. I get BV way too often. The first 2 times I took this medicine, the only thing I experienced was a nasty taste in my mouth, which is expected when taking it. But last night I took it and had 2 mixed drinks. This morning I was throwing up violently. The worst taste ever. I don’t know if it was the alcohol, but my suggestion is DO NOT drink alcohol while on this medicine, at least for 24 hours. I wish I would’ve read some of the reviews before drinking, but I just assumed it was okay because the manufacturer said so. Too many people are saying don’t drink with this medicine. And I feel like it really was the alcohol because I’ve taken it two times before and didn’t have these problems. Hope this helps somebody!"

"I put this on top of yogurt and ate in a few bites. The taste wasn’t enjoyable but not the worst thing in the world. It is 4 days after taking the med, and I feel some relief. I will say I did have two glasses of wine last night (52 hrs after taking the medicine) and had some nausea after. I’ve had a racing heart rate every morning since taking this medication. Not sure if this is a side effect or not. Would not recommend if you have heart problems."

"This is a very good drug, ladies! Who cares about some minor bitter taste? It will work, and it's way better than taking those nasty pills that get stuck in your throat daily, and you feel sick daily from taking them. I give this drug 10 out of 10. Thank God for that manufacturer."

"Just took Solosec for the first time. I mixed it with Greek yogurt. The taste was not pleasant, but it’s tolerable. I will give an update as far as it working. Praying I don’t get a yeast infection since I have been fighting a two-month battle with yeast. Currently on Diflucan and Nystatin, so praying this will be enough to fight the yeast. Taking a probiotic “Azo” daily also, so hopefully this will help with the yeast issue and digestion issues."
