"Ever since I’ve been on this awful pill I haven’t been able to access my sex drive. This tiny little pill absolutely destroyed my libido and it makes me so upset!! My psychiatrist doesn’t want me to quit this med for some reason but I just want to have a happy healthy sexual relationship with my partner again"

"i was put on risperidone to treat level one autism, specifically targeting irritability and flexibility. Within the first two weeks I gained 15 pounds, which would not budge regardless of how little I ate or how much I exercised. Turns out I got the experience of a rare side effect: edema. i have photos of my legs from this medicine and they’re honestly horrifying, I couldn’t even recognize myself. Stopped yesterday and the swelling is already starting to go down. As to effectiveness: it was ok I guess?"

"My son has ADHD with average hyperactivity. He don't concentrate much and starts hyperactivity after watching TV and mobile games or cartoons. He was taking risperidone for 1 month and when we stopped we found that hyperactivity increased a lot. Now should we continue medicine or stop because there will a situation in future that we will stop giving him medicines and at that time what will happen to him."

"My son was prescribed risperidone from his pediatrician when six years old. He was suspected then for autism, which now he has definitely been diagnosed with. My son had extremely aggressive behaviors in preschool and kindergarten. The risperidone was given at .5 once a day. This had a drastic change in his behavior. He gained excessive weight from this medication. This medication worked for about a year or so, and then all the aggression and behaviors came back. My son became on the verge of being diabetic, and the medication was stopped. He rapidly lost the weight that was gained from this medication after discontinuing. This medication is only good for a short while if it works."

"This medication gave my 6-year-old autistic son a new and wonderful life. Over the years, my son developed aggression, self-harm, anger, violence, and non-stop meltdowns. I’d become genuinely scared of my little guy. When he lost all friends, became isolated in the classroom, and had become a genuine danger to sibling/himself, we reluctantly started risperidone. It changed everything. Within a few days, our beautiful son was back. He was happy, engaged, and started participating in his favorite activities again. We’ve done slow dose increases when symptoms returned, and it took several months to reach a stable dose. We’ve also split the dose into morning, afternoon, and night - and find this to be very effective. I cannot recommend this medication enough. I still can’t believe that my son is so happy, energetic, and outgoing."

Risperdal (risperidone) "Helped with the behaviors, but the side effects were swollen throat, heavy feeling in limbs, facial tics, hearing voices. Be careful and monitor your child closely if your child is on this medication."
