"Went to the ER with a migraine and what I thought was a pinched nerve. They gave me a cocktail of Benadryl, toradol, and prochlorperazine. I immediately begged them to reverse it after experiencing sudden panic. I hadn’t had a panic attack in years and this was the worst I can remember. I thought it was the end of me and I thought about pulling my IV out but tried my best to get it together. It was one of the worst experiences of my life and I would never ever recommend."

"For several months suffered debilitating migraines daily. My tongue went numb on the right side arms going dead on a night. I suffer with chiari malformation and a brain cyst multiple issues. Ok received 5mg of this today only took 5mg and my brain pressure relieved within 1 hour. Its the first time in months I've felt at ease. Doctors won't accept I've issues with chiari and the brain cyst and are refusing a brain scan follow up. I have the feeling of my brain dropping 50 times an hour mainly on a night. I'm really hoping the brain drop feeling relieves tonight while sleeping. I'VE HAD A GOOD 6 HOURS FIRST TIME IN NEARLY 16 MONTHS! A blessing is this for me..."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "Please do not take this medication. I went to ER for a week long migraine. They gave me this along with something else. I can’t take Benadryl so I refused that. Minutes after it was put in my IV, my heart was in the 140s for hours (I already suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and was already nervous). Mind you, I’m on metoprolol as well, which lowers your heart rate, and even that didn’t bring it down. I was restless to the point of insanity, scared, anxious, and alone, and had a panic attack. I had to call the nurse who sat with me while I was having a full-blown panic attack. He was great, thankfully. After discharge, the panic, fear and restlessness lasted hours. I couldn’t be alone because I was so scared. I am also sensitive to medication and refuse a lot of stuff due to a bad prior experience with something. This is why I do not trust anything anymore. This drug was horrible and I recommend you DO NOT take this drug ever."

"For me, prochlorperizine is an absolute live saver. I have severe anxiety due to emetophobia (fear of vomiting). I'll have bad days where I get so nauseous and so worked up that I end up having debilitating panic attacks. As soon as I feel one coming on, I'll take a single tablet and within 15-30 minutes the nausea is gone and I'm totally calm. I'll then be fine for the rest of the day so I can actually get on with stuff. The only 'adverse' effects I notice are it makes me feel a bit dopey, dry mouth and then eventually really hungry... Which is great because the anxiety usually stops me being able to eat! 100% recommend giving this a try for acute anxiety/nausea."

"Man, it's been 3 months since having this medicine in my system and just the thought of the 4 day withdrawal is giving me anxiety. I couldn't understand why I couldn't sit, sleep, eat etc after first 12 hours. Felt like an out of body experience. I was in a McDonald's drive thru and panicked. Had to ask cars to reverse to let me out. It's like sheer doom would hit you from out of nowhere. Mind you this was given as treatment for severe migraine and one week before a 7 day cruise. 24hrs later, I was back in urgent care with slurred speech. Thought I was having a STROKE. Delayed allergic reaction that had to be reversed with benadryl via IV. I swear, I hope to NEVER come across another medication with side effects like compazine. I know ask before I'm given anything if the medication is like compazine. Run from it. The anxiety alone is so bad!!! If you do take it, DON'T BE ALONE!!! I suffered by myself."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I went to the ER Saturday night after a terrible migraine. The pain was so bad, nothing was helping. Vomiting too. They finally admitted me and gave me Toradol, Compazine both through an IV. within 10 minutes, I felt like I was panicking. I couldn't sit still. I just wanted to run out. I had to get a CT scan and I just wanted to run out! It was so scary and so weird, I thought it was just me but after reading the side effects I see how "normal" and frequent it is. Once I was on my way home, anxiety persisted. I took a quick shower and went to sleep. Thankfully I was able to fall asleep because I was so drowsy, but I basically slept the entire next day. Anxiety lasted about 24 hours. They gave me a prescription for this medication, I will NEVER take this medicine as long as I live. it was TERRIBLE!"

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I had a severe headache from a post spinal tap. I had to go to the ER. The nurse brought me in meds through IV and said she was giving me a "headache cocktail". Next thing I knew she walked out of room and I immediately went flying over the cuckoos nest. I started hitting the call light over and over and the nurse just said it's okay it's the medicine. I ripped out my IV and started screaming for help. I thought I was going to die. She came in our back in an IV they gave me not one not two but THREE doses of Ativan. I had to call my mom to get me from there. I just wanted to go home and sleep. My mom took me to her house and made me sleep there. It took a long time for me to fall asleep. When I finally slept it was for about 14 hours. I woke up still feeling off but my headache was back and I refused to go back to take that med again. I tried to eat, bathe, everything nothing worked. It took about 24 hours to fully wear out of my system. DO NOT RECOMMEND"

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I’m so glad I’m not alone in this. I was given this drug for a migraine also. It was my first time ever having a panic attack. Now I’m suffer from them on a regular basis and I believe it is because of this cocktail. It’s extremely hard for me to accept meds at the hospital anymore. I’m too terrified that I’ll have that reaction again."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I went to the doctors May 23rd 2022 I was seen at the ER at the hospital I went for head pressure and I told them I haven’t been feeling like myself lately. So they took me back n gave me this and they told me they were giving me a lil Benadryl to take the pressure away out my head. But the whole time they me gave Benadryl and compazine without me knowing. So 10 mins later the meds start kicking in really fast I got real hot n start panicking ready to jump out the bed and run away. The nurse came in laughing asking me do I feel like my skin is leaving my body I told her yes and start crying. She was like your fine and put a cold napkin around my neck. I still was panicking ready to pull my hair out. Hours later when it was time for me to leave I told them I felt like I was going to open car door on the way home. So they kept me a little longer and gave me another IV to help drain the meds out of me. I still was shaky and anxious and I couldn’t stop moving. I felt like I was losing my mind"

"Took this over a month ago, and it caused still having high anxiety and panic attacks. When does it end? Never ever had them before they gave me this at the ER. Do not let them give it to you. Told them I had to go RIGHT NOW, was so anxious and my heart rate was up, couldn't breathe. Extreme restlessness. Still bad for me at night. Went to ER they gave benedryl and said it just had to go away. Please listen to the reviews this is the worst medicine ever."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "DO NOT TAKE!!!! I was actually given this for chest pain. I could have clawed my own skin off and was so annoyed by everyone. Complete psychosis. It took 48 hours to wear off and about ten doses of benadryl. Absolute worst experience ever. Dr acted like it was no big deal and the nurse said most everyone has a bad reaction to it. I ask why they would anyone give this drug. Certainly didn’t help my chest pain. Dumb dumb dumb"

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I went into the emergency center for a migraine. I have anxiety disorder and bipolar disorder. I was given this in an i.v. and they turned off the light once they left. Within five minutes, I had this horrible rush of anxiety. I immediately sat up, ran to mirror and started to breathe. For some reason when I watch myself doing the breathing exercises for anxiety it helps me believe that it's a phase and it will pass. After 10 reps I took the i.v.off of the stand and ran into the bathroom. Then I ran down the hallway and told someone to get this i.v. out of my arm right now. The nurse asked me to go to my room. I started to rip our the i.v.and she immediately stopped me and came to remove it herself. I had to go outside for 20 minutes to remove my mask so that I wouldn't hyperventilate. I was curious about this experience and I wound up here. Needless to say, I'm not alone. I would never ever get this drug again!"

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "Couldn’t stop a migraine due to spinal stenosis. Went into ER and my blood pressure was super high. They gave me Compazine to help stop nausea and vomiting. It felt like I wanted to jump out the bed. Lasts a few days where it’s just a really bad anxious feeling I had never had before. I never want to experience that again."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "This by far the worst drug ever! I was given this drug in the ER for a headache I had for over a week due to high blood pressure. It’s been over 36 hours since they gave me compazine & Benadryl and I’m still not 100% normal. I’m just ready to get back to my normal routine with my family. This drug sucks"

"I went to the ER due to having recurring migraines for almost two weeks. After all my blood work came out well, they gave me the migraine cocktail which included ketorolac (Toradol) 30 mg IV diphenhydramine (Benadryl) 25 mg IV followed by prochlorperazine (Compazine) 10 mg IV. I immediately felt an odd sensation in my throat followed by panic. I tried sleeping it off to no avail. I had experience this before with other drugs so I knew it was going to wear off but those first 10 hours were the worst I have ever felt. I would have preferred a million times a migraine over this experience. You feel as if you can’t control your thoughts or even your body and you just want it to end. Please ask what you will be given and ask for the side effects. You can even look them up yourself before they administer it to you. Stay away from antipsychotics when you don’t need them!"

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I had a severe migraine for 2 days. I was in so much pain I had blurred vision and nausea. Tried to take my prescribed PRN migraine medicine but I threw up. The ER nurse gave me pain meds and fluids in my IV as well as steroids'. She came back and said the Doctor had ordered Benadryl and Compazine for me. I asked what it was, I have always been given Zofran. She stated it would help with the nausea. she added the syringe of Compazine to my 1000ml bag of saline. But she did not mix it, the bag was already hanging. I do believe I got a much larger amount administered at one time because of how she added it to the hanging bag. Within 5-10 minutes, I was panicking, couldn't sit still, but I was too dizzy to stand. I tried ripping the IV out, crying at my husband that we needed to leave. I couldn't explain why I was upset or answer his questions other than I needed to go/ get out. The IV needed out. Nurse came and stopped the IV. Took 30 minutes for the panic, terror, and confusion to pass"

"Given this by GP for nausea after getting sinusitis. Helped initially with feeling sick. However after day three became very tired. Forgot to take a dose and developed serious anxiety attacks. My muscles were aching, my vision was blurred and had to take a few days off work. Revisited GP who says I need to wean myself off it. Be very careful with dosage with this one. Maybe consider sea sickness tablets as opposed to this drug. It's been a very uncomfortable couple of days"

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "Got it for the first time ever, went in for a headache that was persistent. Have had panic and anxiety attacks before so I knew what was happening. 15 minutes in I was going crazy. Akathisia was what took the longest to go away. I read compazine takes 2-4 days to get out of the body if taken through IV. So don’t worry y’all you will get better but give it the minimum days. Benadryl does help as it’s a counter for it. Mother is allergic to it as well and reglan. They say it’s not hereditary but I believe it is. Careful with these headaches drugs! Even though the headache did go away! 24 hours have passed since taking it and in slowly coming off the side effects"

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "Went to ER for a headache that wouldn’t go away after a little over a week. Have never had migraines but apparently that’s what the ER doctors thought I had because they gave me a migraine cocktail consisting of compazine, diphenhydramine, and methylprednisolone. After getting the compazine through an IV push I genuinely thought I was having an allergic reaction. My throat felt tight and my skin felt hot and panic set in. But after the benadryl kicked in I fell asleep. I woke up with anxiety and realized the “allergic reaction” I had was actually a panic attack. I went for a CT scan after and it was a scary experience being in that tight space with all the residual anxiety I had. The next day I had insomnia and experienced depersonalization for the first time in years. Very scary, lots of blurred vision and generalized anxiety. 48 hours later and along with the anxiety, a weird side effect of excessive drooling and saliva. Great I know. Along with a blank stare."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "About a year ago or so, I went to the hospital for a migraine. I've gone fairly often for migraines. Normally its benadryl, and some fluids (from dehydration) and then I'm good to go. This time they gave me benadryl and compazine. Almost immediately I started panicking. My heart was racing, jt was hard to breathe, and I literally thought I was dying. I was in the process of trying to text my loved ones telling them I loved them. Thanks to covid, my husband wasn't allowed in, however my attack had gotten so bad I begged and pleaded for them to let him in with me. The nurse who administered the medicine didn't care that I was freaking out, in fact all she had said was "well, your headache is gone now right? Now you have a new problem". If I could sue the hospital for this and win, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I thought I was dying and the nurse just shrugged and said "oh well now you have a new problem". A year later and I'm still not normal. Panic attacks are worse and often:/"

"I had a very bad experience back in 1999 I was only 25 years old at the time with two young children ages 6 and 3. I went to have surgery and was given this medicine which I had a bad reaction to and let me to stop breathing and stopped my heart. I was pronounced dead for 3 minutes. Luckily they were able to bring me back and all the doctors or nurses had a big scare that day. I am lucky to still be here along with my two children who are now 25 and 28."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "These experiences listed for this drug are not exaggerated. Had some numbness and headache issues that caused me to visit the ER. Was given a benedryl, toradol and compazine cocktail for the headaches. After the toradol wore off I had the most horrid anxiety. My body would not let me calm down and my mind wanted to calm down. It was a constant struggle for more than a day to get back to normal. I wanted to rip the IV out and run out of the hospital while I was waiting to get an MRI. It was hands down the worst experience of my life."

"Off label use: Abortive therapy for migraine Not for nausea, but for the headache it self. It works! Better than Esgic/Fioricet, better than two Excedrin Using compazine 10 mg tabs. It does stop the H/A from getting worse 1 tid no more than three days a week. Might be worth looking into. HypnoPhD"

"I was given this medication for nausea during a possible ovary twisting. I already suffer from Complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD) and after taking this medication, I started feeling anxious and had a psychosis episode. I spent three days in that episode and was uncontrollably shaking, sweating profusely, hallucinating, panicking, and couldn't eat. I couldn’t think and I couldn’t verbally communicate what I needed and how to help me, it was just awful."
