"My RLS isn't that severe. It kicks in only when I'm trying to sleep, despite this Neurontin and Iron supplementation did not help. My Dr started me on 1mg Requip and it worked like a charm but after 6 months I started to have severe nausea and adverse effects. He decided to start me on 75mg of Lyrica while cutting in half the Requip. After 2 weeks, I started needing less and less of the Requip. Today I am taking 150mg of Lyrica at 6:30pm and can finally sleep without feeling weird (Requip will make you feel this way it's hard to explain). This medication has not caused any of the possible secondary effects (weight gain, drowsiness, etc) so I honestly think you should give this a try before starting on Dopamine Agonists right off the bat."

"I've had RLS for 22 years. Last year, I finally talked to my doctor, and she put me on Requip. It did NOTHING but make me sleepy the next day. So we tried Lyrica, and it is a game changer. I'm on 300 mg a day, and it works fantastic. No RLS, and I can sleep finally. BUT I am so groggy during the day. I wish I could find a doctor who believed in a low-dose opiate (not tramadol because I'm an epileptic), but until I do, Lyrica will remain my go-to for this awful condition!"

"Having tried 2 meds for RLS, Mirapex (which worked very well but led me to compulsive behaviors) and Neurontin (which had disappointing results), I was desperate to find a long-acting medication that would help alleviate my RLS symptoms throughout the day and night. I was started on a low dose of 75 mg and gradually increased to 375 mg. Initially, I felt very encouraged by my response even though it took at least 5 or 6 days to have an effect on my RLS. By the time I had increased to 150 mg, I was sleeping much better and had no RLS during the day. Unfortunately, it appears that I am experiencing diminishing effect with my higher dosage and need to increase yet again with the unwanted fogginess I feel all morning. I wake up during the night with RLS, and it lasts for at least 1 to 2 hours before I can fall asleep again. I am not RLS free."

"I started out on Ropinirole on which I quickly maxed out; my MD had me wean off the Ropinirole slowly while starting on Lyrica 350 mg. At first, the memory problems and frequent double vision were horrible. 3 months later I’m doing great!"

"I am on pregabalin 600 mg p/d for GAD and restless legs. It works well for restless leg syndrome, works 99% of the time. There's every once in a blue moon where it doesn't help for 1 day, but most of the time, I'd say it's a great option. I'd give it a 9/10 for restless legs."

Pregabalin "I have tried a number of different drugs for RLS, including Lyrica, Mirapex, Klonopin, Neurontin, and clonidine. Lyrica and Mirapex are by far the most effective medicines for me in treating restless legs syndrome. Note: I am confined to a special type of power wheelchair. My primary diagnosis is Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome; other diagnoses of particular note include Chronic Pain Syndrome, idiopathic polyneuropathy, Schizoaffective Bipolar Disorder, CHF, seizure disorder, severe degenerative bone and joint disease, severe degenerative disk disease, obstructive sleep apnea, GERD; among others. I have a colostomy and a suprapubic catheter."

"Have been on Neurontin, severe side effects, legs on fire, never helped RLS. Was also on new med called Horizant, severe reaction, both which landed me in the hospital. Placed on Lyrica, no more RLS, way less diabetes foot pain. Finally, after many nights of pure hell, I feel human. Please note, taking too much WILL cause you to black out. Please take as directed. Don't plan on driving until you see how it affects you! Thank you, Lyrica, finally some sleep and relief. Oh, very expensive, so I pray those who need it can afford it and/or the copay! Happy dreams!"

"It took a couple of days, but it did stop my restless legs. The downside is that in the few weeks I was taking it, I put on about a stone in weight. It's good for making you sleepy. I now use tramadol and am trialing trazodone."

"I take pregabalin 75 mg for almost two years for my spinal stenosis, but it did not help with my right leg tingling. There are side effects caused by this medication, such as sleeplessness, weight gain, speech slurs, and memory loss. I do not recommend using it."

"I’ve been taking Lyrica 75 mg for quite some time, but it’s for my back/bone problems. I have been affected by RLS for years, finally, a sleep doctor recommended I take it a bit earlier in the evening and with a women's multivitamin. I think it’s working a bit better, but I was considering having him up the dose just a bit to see if it rids me of this horrible condition. Good luck to all of you jumpy-legged people! Lol."

Pregabalin "I started with Lyrica for what is either RLS or PLMD. At the same time, I was also having increasing sciatic problems. My sciatic problems were immediately substantially reduced, as were my leg movement problems. However, now displeased with some of the side effects taking only 100 mg. Will try to lower dosage, hoping to keep up the pros and lessen the cons."

"I was prescribed pregabalin for RLS and noticed straight away a positive reaction, but it then quickly returned back to normal. Going up the doses doesn't seem to be making a huge difference, on 75 mg, I've had RLS at least twice a day for a week now. I haven't had any side effects, and it hasn't affected my sleep in any way, with my RLS waking me up a few times."

"Methadone for 27 years for RLS, it has been wonderful. No side effects that I have noticed. Insurance and Kaiser Permanente is forcing me to withdraw from methadone and replace it with pregabalin, so I have been taking methadone and pregabalin at the same time; decreasing methadone while increasing pregabalin (currently 75 mg). This has been just one week, so I cannot give a fair evaluation, except I am sleepy all day with some dizziness."

"No good. Did not help at all. Up all night, and the side effects scare me! Not worth the risk."

"Over the past 15 years, I have been dealing with a constant feeling of daytime sleepiness. Tried meds to help me sleep, which made it worse. Did 5 different sleep studies because everyone said that I had sleep apnea. But that was not the case. Did a brain scan which was normal. Thank God. Finally, I was working with a sleep doctor who said that I had idiopathic hypersomnolence, which means that doctors have no idea what's going on, but recognize that something is. Treated with stimulants, all of which worked but not very long. Finally, last year began seeing a specialist in hypersomnia. Almost immediately, he tested and said that I had restless leg syndrome. It's not enough to cause pain, but it almost wakes me up constantly all night. Began various treatments, but none worked. But started taking Lyrica two months ago, so far remarkable results. Don't give up..."
