For Bowel Preparation "I did the split dose and was able to get it down with no issues. I mixed the solution a few hours in advance and let it chill in the fridge. I drank half at 5 pm instead of 6 (with no straw so I could get it down faster), had water, then finished the rest about 10 minutes later, followed by more water. It tasted like a fruit drink to me. The first dose took about an hour to kick in, but once it did, I had no cramping, discomfort, etc. Just a lot of watery movements. It did, however, make me extremely cold. After a couple of hours, I was done for the night and able to get a good night's sleep. Took the second dose this morning at 6 am, and within 20 minutes it started working. Same experience as last night, and an hour later, I'm in great shape for my colonoscopy! I'm thrilled that this was the complete opposite of what I expected and feel a huge sense of relief that the process worked as needed."

For Bowel Preparation "I was given a box of Plenvu in the doctor's office. It contains aspartame. I am not allergic to it, but I do not use artificial sweeteners. I was in remission with my ulcerative colitis for two years. During the bowel prep, I saw red blood. Then, after the colonoscopy, more blood. Then, for three months, back on all medications because the aspartame triggered my autoimmune disorder and the colitis came back. I will be careful now and not use anything with aspartame in it in the future. Hope this helps anyone that suffers from this condition."

For Bowel Preparation "I took Plenvu prior to a colonoscopy. I have had severe constipation for a long time, 2 previous colonoscopies were not successful because I was not cleaned out enough. Plenvu was my last resort, and within 30 minutes, it began to work and cleaned me out completely by following the dosing directions. I would HIGHLY recommend Plenvu for everyone!"

For Bowel Preparation "I had a lot of anxiety about taking this after reading negative experiences and because I have emetophobia. But taking this for a bowel prep was really not that bad at all. I didn't feel nauseous, and there weren't any painful bowel cramps of the kind you might have when you get sick, which were the two things I was most afraid of. It just felt like a normal BM was coming and then... surprise, it was liquid. I created an account to leave this review in the hopes that it helps assuage someone else's anxiety. Also, the first dose didn't taste that bad to me at all, but I'm only giving it an 8 because the second dose tasted bad - seems like they could just make it taste more like the first dose and it would be fine."

For Bowel Preparation "I was given my first colonoscopy yesterday. The prep was with Plenvu and I took my first dose at 7 PM as instructed. Not sure why they call it a 'Mango' flavor because it was nothing close to a Mango taste. Honestly, it is the worst thing that I've ever tasted. However, the 2nd dose at 6 AM with a Fruit Punch flavor was actually pleasant tasting. Now with the results after the first dose. I've read some posts where folks were saying that they didn't have the urge to go the first night. So after taking the first dose (as they said, slowly and consume all within 30 minutes), I took my 2 dogs for a walk around the block. Sure enough, when arriving home, my colon was telling me to go potty. Worked like a charm. Took the 2nd dose at 6 AM and finished it at 6:30 AM. The good news is that the results of my colonoscopy were great and they don't need to see me for 10 years. I just hope at that time, they have a different flavor than Mango."

For Bowel Preparation "I had this for a same-day prep. Appointment at 2 p.m. The leaflet said to take at 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. As I was planning to drive, I asked if I could take it earlier. Yes. I went for 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. I'm glad I did. The solution isn't pleasant, it's like a concentrated diet drink with salt. But it is drinkable. Rather than panic with your thoughts and say, 'Oh my God, this is awful, I'm going to be sick'...instead calmly sip through a straw. I was told to drink it over an hour. I sipped a bit every 5 minutes. At 5:15, cascades, probably 12 over an hour. Then I slept and woke for the alarm at 7 a.m. The solution made me feel a bit nauseous, so I sipped slowly and left bigger gaps, taking it over 1.5 hours. By 8 a.m., again, cascades. A bottle of water in the loo with me, and I was making sure I drank after each one. I felt wobbly but again kept drinking. Everything finished by 12:00. The main thing is to take it slowly, try and be calm, and drink lots of extra fluids. So good luck with yours."

For Bowel Preparation "Had Plenvu for colonoscopy, the last 2 times was given MoviPrep. Firstly, it tastes vile, especially the 2nd dose, but I was pleased that the amount you have to drink is only 500 ml (twice), which is a lot less than other brands. My opinion is make it up first, leave it to chill in the fridge, then sip it slowly over 60 mins, it started to work really quickly once I'd finished it. The 2nd dose is a different story (well, it was for me!) I tried to drink it as I'd done with the first dose but felt sick pretty quickly, kept going but vomited most of it back, I was panicking because I didn't want the procedure to fail, so I left it at least an hour and started again with what I'd got left, approximately half, sipped it extremely slow and with each sip drank a lot of water immediately after. This took ages to get down but it stayed down, it did prolong the loo trips well into the night though (morning appointment). My procedure went well and my bowel was the clearest it's ever been, so it was worth it, just about!"

For Bowel Preparation "There is only one word for this bowel preparation: NASTY. Please listen to the reviews. I have had three colonoscopies and never have I been in so much pain. I actually felt like my stomach would explode, and the cramps were unbelievable. I contemplated going to the ED and called the hospital. After a few hours on the toilet, it has settled a little. I am probably NOT going to take the second dose and postpone. This stuff might be successful for some, but it shouldn't be this bad for others."

For Bowel Preparation "This was my second colonoscopy, and my first prep, while unpleasant, was not nearly as awful as Plenvu. I don't remember what my previous doctor had me take, but it was nothing like this one!! As others have said, the taste (disgusting combo of salty and sickly sweet), viscosity, and the feeling of bloated fullness and nausea after was bad enough on the first dose. It took me 45 min to force myself to drink the second dose at midnight. No sleep that night!! I was desperately thirsty by the morning, in spite of drinking multiple glasses of water up until 3:30 am, which was when I had to stop before the procedure. After the procedure, I felt sick all day, and by evening felt like I had the flu with chills and body aches and no appetite. My guts were churning for 3 days after the procedure as well. I will never take Plenv again. There are so many better options, including a pill form. It's unbelievable that this 'stuff' is still prescribed by physicians!! Insist on an alternative."

For Bowel Preparation "Plenvu presented no problems, other than the taste. Bud Light would be better. I had a subsequent midday appointment, so took the first dose at 6 PM in the evening. Pretty well cleaned me out within 2 hours, so went to sleep for the night with no accidents. Took the final dose at 6 AM, and that completely cleared me out within 30 minutes. The consultant was impressed with the clarity of my entire colon. Good result. As I say, for me, the only thing was the mango extra sweet taste. I’ll try the straw next time."

For Bowel Preparation "I read all of the negative reviews on Plenvu and got a little nervous and called my doctor to try and get something like Suprep. They weren't able to change, but I am so glad they didn't get me something else. I don't know what Suprep tastes like, but I heard it's not good. Plenvu kit had 2 packets. The first was mango (16 oz), which tasted like salt water mango, but better than the gross tasting stuff from others. I drank another 16 oz at 5 and had cleanout start around 6:30 pm. Then the 2nd packet(s) was tropical fruit flavor salt water. Still very tolerable. I was very full after both. I took the 2nd packet at 3 am and basically had complete clean out by 4:30 am, but still having movements up to 6 am (had to leave the house by 6:30 am). But everything was clear, so not worried when I went to the procedure. I'm glad I ignored the reviews. I'm 51 and would easily take this again."

For Bowel Preparation "I'm a fit, healthy 81-year-old who has had four colonoscopies with no problems on Glycoprep. At the pre-procedure appointment, told Plenvu was better. I religiously followed the prep instructions. Commenced Dose 1 at 6 PM, by 8/8:30 PM my bowels worked. Started to vomit and shake, drank more liquids. Rang the after-hours doctor. Later called an ambulance, vomiting and shaking continued. About 1 AM rang after-hours doctor again. By 2:30 AM, still vomiting, hot and shaking. Was driven to the hospital, then a 2-hour wait. Then had a seizure in the waiting room. The next 28 hours are a blank. My family reported a distressing day in emergency with me in an agitated state, sometimes needing two to hold me down. I remained there for four days in the hospital. It was clear that the Plenvu prep had brought on excessive vomiting (5 hours), leading to serious depletion of sodium and electrolytes, etc. In summary, I'm lucky to be alive, my car license gone (due to the seizure), and I still need a colonoscopy. I won't be using Plenvu. Any readers of this review, be warned."

For Bowel Preparation "I give this a 3 because it worked, but at what cost? I essentially gave myself a case of stomach flu for 12 hrs. Strangely, I became very cold after each dose, which the nurse told me is very common. I thought I might get a chance to sleep an hour here or there, but absolutely not. I was still hitting the toilet after arriving at the hospital for my appointment (multiple times). The nausea and dehydration were intense, as I was told not to have any more fluids 4 hrs before the appointment. I see plenty of people have described the taste accurately, so I'll simply say that it takes an iron will to keep it down. Everyone else I've talked to has had great luck with the Miralax & Dulcolax combo. Much cheaper, effective, and better tasting. Why use Plenvu at all?"

For Bowel Preparation "Beware! The first dose wasn't too terrible to get down at 5 PM. By 5 AM, when I woke to start the second dose, I had a terrible headache that I thought was sinus. It only got worse from there. I started drinking the dose and kept feeling worse: headache, nausea, weakness, cramps. After about 1/4 of the dose, I became violently ill, which only intensified the bad side effects. By 6 AM, my husband got my neighbor, a trauma surgeon, to come over and check in on me. She suggested the emergency room. I was happy to go, my symptoms and weakness were scaring me. I'm 65, but I've had several colonoscopies and not gone off the rails like this, and I'm super fit and an avid mountain biker. It took about 4 days before I felt strong and normal. The worst part is, I still have to get a colonoscopy! I won't use Plenvu, but I'm still terrified!"

For Bowel Preparation "Bowel prep: first attempted Pico Prep; vomited 6 hours. Then... Plenvu. Taken at 7 PM. By 7:15, I was off to the toilet. Very quick and very frequent bowel evacuation. But by 10:30, I was in bed. Second dose (2nd dose tastes better) at 4 AM. Slight nausea. Bowel evacuations till 7. Slept lightly between, ready to pounce for the toilet (lol). So although very dehydrating, it did the job quickly, which I found better. Doc said my bowel was VERY clean. He removed a flat polyp; for me, a huge relief- increased risk of bowel cancer as Nan, uncle (died), and Mom had bowel cancer (died) at 43. So although my and my siblings' risk is now increased again, Plenvu’s great bowel cleaning and a great doc have saved me from this flat polyp turning. Highly recommend. Remember all bowel prep is ‘shitty;’ it’s not about the prep... it’s about the saving of your life."

For Bowel Preparation "Got a prescription for Plenvu for a bowel prep - I used a coupon to pay $50 for it, with my insurance covering the rest. It requires less water to consume than others. Taken in 2 parts. Off-putting taste. It's sweet and salty. 2 flavors: mango and fruit punch. Don't know why it can't be unflavored and mixed with Gatorade like Miralax. Took the 1st dose the evening before. I was scheduled for the early afternoon. Had no movement for the entire evening. Woke up the next day and had one. Then I took the 2nd batch. For the next several hours, I needed to stay close to the bathroom. It's a fairly gentle-acting prep. Cleaned me out well, and the doctor was pleased. Note: I also ate very lightly and according to suggestions for 5 days prior. Not sure why a script is necessary or the cost. I've had a previous colonoscopy using Dulcolax and Miralax that worked just as well. Dr. claims this cleans better, but I didn't see it. Wondering if the doctor receives some type of compensation for recommending it."

For Bowel Preparation "Oh Lordy me. You win on effectiveness, but at what cost? I'm a petite person. You would think this product would be weight-based dosages. Nobody thought of that. It is like drinking the saltiest thick drink and then trying to hide it with a fruity flavor. Doesn't work. The SALT flavor won! Had to chase after each swig to get rid of the awfulness so I wouldn't puke. I couldn't make it with the first pouch. Took at 5 PM, and in 1 hour, it started working-next 6 hours of drama. Knowing at 11 PM I had to relive all of this again with both pouch A and B and suffer again with that awful taste, and also especially after my insides were calming down was VERY traumatic. I did not sleep at all. There was nothing left inside of me but my guts and major organs. Hopefully, I wasn't going to lose those too. LOL. Sure felt like it. I could only tolerate half a dosage of Pack A/B because it made me so nauseous. I didn't care. I was already down to nothing in my body. Maybe their R&D will invest in a better taste?"

For Bowel Preparation "After reading all of these reviews, I was terrified. I have emetophobia and have an irrational fear of vomiting. I was worked up about taking this for weeks. I had my doctor call in a prescription for anti-nausea medication that I started 30 minutes prior to starting. The first dose wasn't bad, but I kinda wish they just let it be salty instead of giving it a 'fruity' flavor. I sipped it over an hour. I made sure it was cold, added ice, and drank through a straw. Made it through dose 1, no problems. Started working within 30 minutes. No cramping. Just explosive. I was unable to get any sleep between the doses. Dose 2 tasted a little better but was harder to sip down. After an hour, I ended up chugging the last bit as it was already starting to work. The next hour was the worst. The nausea faded after an hour. I hope I don't need to do this for another 10 years, but I would try this prep again. Just wouldn't chug the 2nd dose."

For Bowel Preparation "After reading all the bad reviews on here, I was terrified to try Plenvu. But, it wasn’t bad! I think all the preps are going to taste bad, so don’t let that deter you. The mango was definitely harder for me to get down, but I followed each sip with a bite of lemon Italian Ice, and that helped immensely. It worked quickly and effectively without any nausea or cramping. Just a noisy stomach, but I’m sure that’s to be expected. The fruit punch (second dose) was much better tasting, but still not something I would choose to drink if I had other options. I was completely cleaned out and had no issues getting to my appointment. I highly recommend this prep and will use it again when I need my next colonoscopy. Another good note is to definitely use some sort of barrier cream after every movement. Helped me a lot!"

For Bowel Preparation "I’ll be brief. Plenvu will cause severe burning abdominal pain, vomiting, and chills. This lasted up to 2 1/2 hours with me last night. Also, this prep never fully cleaned me out for my colonoscopy today. The worst prep ever. There are other good preps out there. Plenvu needs to address this finally. Too many complaints!"

For Bowel Preparation "Plenvu: my dosage at the time was 500 ml of mango salt flavor and a second 500 ml dose of fruit punch/grapefruit salt flavor. The taste was bad, but one thing I did discover when I rang up my doctor was that I could mix Plenvu with Sprite and add cordial, too. This helped immensely. Nothing will really take away the salt water. But make your prep up beforehand with ice-cold Sprite and store it in the fridge for a bit. Alternate this with sips of ice-cold water, and it will go down eventually, I promise. I struggled a bit, but this prep has one of the least amounts to drink. Thank your lucky stars it's not MoviPrep. My main tip is to drink at least 2 liters of clear fluid after each dosage. And add Vaseline to your anus! You will go to the toilet once you start to chug the water after the dose. The doctor at the appointment said my prep was excellent. One last tip: this is supposed to be taken in 30 mins. Find yourself some quiet space and focus on it. Worked for me. Would recommend."

For Bowel Preparation "This is the most disgusting-tasting thing I've ever had. It tastes like it's been made with seawater. Drinking 2 pints of the stuff in 2 sessions is torture. The only good thing is it works quickly, and I had no side effects. Surely someone can come up with a better-tasting one."

For Bowel Preparation "I’m 72 and this was my 6th colonoscopy in the last 25 years. Don’t ask. I am also a T2 diabetic. To cut to the chase, this was my best experience with bowel prep. I’ve tried them all and this was the easiest to take and provided excellent results. The kit includes a pre-measured mixing cup for the powder plus water. I’ve learned not to expect a delicious concoction from any prep, but with a lower volume of liquid the taste was tolerable. I drank the mixture within 10 minutes and followed it up with 16 oz of water as directed. Had more water to drink along the way. Within an hour the prep started working and continued for about 3 hours. Slept about 5-6 hours and took the second dose, which was similar to the first. For me there were no side effects. No nausea, no vomiting, no headaches, all good. Compared to older prep regimens, including truly vile liquids, or 16 pills, this was a piece of cake. Definitely more expensive, but worth the price of a less taxing experience."

For Bowel Preparation "Easier prep than last time. Started both doses 1.5-2 hrs early, which gave me some “rest” time between long bouts of pooping. Chilled the prep about an hour. Took Zofran (Rx anti-nausea) one hour before drinking each dose, and chewed Simethicone tablets (OTC anti-gas) following. Drank with nose pinched to suppress taste (sweet, salty flavor). Dose 1: three parts over ten minutes, alternating with ginger ale. Went down just fine. No side effects. Dose 2: slightly more difficult due to large amount of liquid I had consumed between doses. Slight bloating but no cramping or nausea. Both doses began diarrhea within ten minutes - not separate BMs, but one long continuous dribble (Dose 1, 1.5 hrs; Dose 2, 2.5 hrs). Stopped pooping about 30 min. before leaving for clinic. I was cold the entire prep time, which RN said is common. Have entertainment, water, and soft TP. Blot, don’t wipe, use occasional baby wipe to soothe. Hope this helps. Not as bad as some commenters say."

For Bowel Preparation "I was directed to use Plenvu for my last colonoscopy in Feb 2019. My insurance company wouldn't cover the $150 cost. My GI's office then gave me a sample. It was the fourth colonoscopy that I have had. I have a strong family history of colon cancer and have had polyps in the other 3 procedures. I followed the Plenvu directions. It was the most difficult prep I have ever used. I had vomiting and bowel evacuations for the last 6 hours before the procedure. I had leakage that lasted for about a week after the procedure. I could not leave my home. I then lost 10 pounds over the next 3 months. I had no appetite and I had no energy. I lost about 35% of my hair. It took 1 year before I felt better."
