For Bowel Preparation "I found the first dose harder to handle than the second. I had cramps after the first dose. It was hard to get down and took me 90 minutes to finish. The second dose I finished in 35 minutes. Both doses made me bloated and nauseous. I also had chills after the second dose. It seems to be working as expected. I didn’t find using a straw helped, but keeping it cold and taking water after each drink of the solution did help."

For Bowel Preparation "It’s my first time preparing for a colonoscopy, and I’ve got to say, I would not wish this on my worst enemy. Had my first dose at 3 AM. The taste was awful, made me nauseous. Drank 32 ounces of water following. This is the amount needed just to get rid of the aftertaste. Kicked in after 20 mins. I was on the toilet for two hours straight. Made it to the yellow/clear phase. I slept for an hour before taking the second dose. The first sip made me vomit. I immediately mixed it with more water to make it even slightly tolerable. I made it through 3/4 of the dose, but had to stop before I was sick again. Drank another 32 ounces of water. The water definitely helps lessen the burning and irritation. To note: with the second dose, I’m cold, I have the chills, and I’m still going clear. Hoping this does not last as many hours as some of the reviews state so I may be able to sleep for a little bit before my procedure."

For Bowel Preparation "Worst experience of my life. Worked as advertised, but tasted awful. I may as well have poured straight salt down my throat. Thought I'd puke there for a while. First dose @ 5 pm and second at 3 am. Never slept... too busy. Butt so sore by daylight, I could hardly walk. Experienced chills all night. Assuming polyps come back benign as expected by doc, I'm done. You'd think if the preps could be vastly improved upon, more people would have colonoscopies."

For Bowel Preparation "Dose 1 - 6 pm the night before my scope, salty and thick, horrible fake mango flavor. I divided the 500 mL over three glasses and had each one 15 mins apart. I had a sip of water and lemonade after each sip to combat the taste, followed with a combination of 700 mL of water, chicken stock, and black tea. No cramps or bloating, just lots of tummy groans. First BM was around 8:30 pm, followed by four more until 3 am but still nowhere near clear. My gastro said to have the second dose at 1 pm for my 4 pm scope, but I rang and asked to take it earlier, and it was recommended to get things moving. Dose 2 - fruity flavor, much nicer, not as thick. Divided over three glasses, chilled it again, and took 10 mins apart, with 500 mL of water after. Had nausea and had chills after the 3rd glass, had to lie down for 2 hours to combat the nausea. BM became frequent and watery (but cloudy yellow) within an hour, still had BMs 2 mins before going into theater at 4 pm. Dr. said prep was excellent."

For Bowel Preparation "I’m 19, and I have a colonoscopy in the morning. Many of my family members and close friends have had this procedure along with similar preps, however, none of them were ever recommended Plenvu. And let me just say, absolutely never again. Not only did this taste horrid, it left me nauseous throughout the entire night. While drinking it, I threw up 3 times, so most of it probably didn’t even stay in my system, and the chills were absolutely unbearable. I understand I do not have experience with other people, but I can say that I will not ever recommend this to anyone, not even my worst enemy."

For Bowel Preparation "Thought I was dying. First dose, I got terrible chills and teeth chattering uncontrollably. Second dose felt like I had the flu. Weak, headache, freezing, tried to throw up. I just wanted to lie down, but couldn’t. After all that, it failed to do its job!"

For Bowel Preparation "This was horrendous for me. I have no idea what is in this, but I have never been allergic to anything in my life. I drank about half of the first dose, and my eyes got itchy, then I vomited and got the chills, and my face began to swell, then I broke out in hives. For about 12 hours after taking this, my eyes were still red, and they stung really bad. It hurt to have them open or closed. I couldn't get my colonoscopy done, which annoyed me because I'd done the 3-day prep and had my kids looked after, all for nothing. Instead, I ended up in the emergency room. This gets 0 out of 10 from me."

For Bowel Preparation "I’d like to think that I have a high tolerance level, but this prep was difficult to take. The first sachet is tolerable, but the second one is uggh... gross! I experienced chills, a hot water bottle helps here, and felt quite sick after it, but fortunately managed not to vomit. It did work, but this is my third time having a colonoscopy, and the other two times, I used a different prep which, while I had to drink more, was far easier and more pleasant. I really hope that my results are so positive that I won’t have to go through this for another five years."

For Bowel Preparation "Oh my God, this stuff is hell in a packet. Took the 2 sachets at the designated times, 6 pm and 9 pm, along with 500 ml of water, followed by more water. Went to bed with no sign of it working, but 1 am all hell broke loose. I was going to the loo every 15 minutes for 9 hours, resulting in severe dehydration, nausea, chills, uncontrollable shaking. Procedure was canceled, and they said they would reschedule it. Not blinking likely they can forget putting me through that again."

For Bowel Preparation "I read these terrible reviews obsessively the weeks leading up to my colonoscopy, and if you are doing that too right now, let me tell you: stop right now. It's not healthy. Anyway, I had to take the two doses in the same day since my appointment was scheduled at 6 pm. I took the first one at 7 am, having mixed it up with water I've had previously left cooling in the fridge. Passed the time by watching TV series on my tablet. Second dose I took at 2 pm, with the rest of the water from the fridge. Side effects: the desired diarrhea, a very, very sore butt, and I got a little bit of chills while taking the second dose. Helpful tips: -Take the water very cold, but not agonizingly cold. -Take your sweet time or you'll get nauseated. -Take a warm bath/shower if you feel chilly. -Try to relax while watching Netflix or something. -The worst side effect was the sore butt, so try to take it easy on that part. Hope it turns out well for everyone!"

For Bowel Preparation "I am currently dealing with this. I'm on the second dose and can't finish it, I just can't drink anymore fruity saltwater, I really want to be put out of my misery. I have dizziness, chills, nausea, and headaches. It is 4 AM, and every part of my body hurts. I'd rather stick my hand in and swish it around the toilet bowl that I'm sitting over without flushing first than drink another drop of that stuff."

For Bowel Preparation "First off, Plenvu is expensive. Other brands may also be expensive. I attempted to have a colonoscopy a few weeks ago, but my colon wasn’t clean enough, so I had to do it again! This time I didn’t eat anything for the two days prior to my colonoscopy. I’m writing this between doses, and as it did a few weeks ago, it did the same this time. I may have something wrong with my intestines because it took 7 hours from drinking the prep until my last BM. I had to go about every 30 to 45 minutes. I read that other reviewers didn’t have this problem, so it might just be me. I’m taking the second dose 6 hours before I have to leave, so that I will be through this time before arriving for the colonoscopy. I agree with others, the taste is really awful. Another thing is that it makes me feel cold. I have on extra clothes and still cold this time as last time. Other than the above, it’s about the same as I experienced 10 years ago."

For Bowel Preparation "I was worried after I read the reviews. However, my experience was not bad at all! I started my first dose at 5:00 pm yesterday, sipped slowly with a straw over a 30-minute period, alternating with sips of water and liquid IV electrolytes. At about 6:40 pm, the urge hit me and I went for the first time. Wasn’t terrible or painful. I did feel a little chilled after drinking a lot of cold water, so I got in the bathtub in the master bedroom and got out every 20 minutes or so to use the toilet. I kept drinking my water and electrolyte solution up until about 10:00 pm. My need to use the toilet ended around 10:15 pm and I went to sleep. I slept without waking up until my alarm at 4:00 am so I could start dose 2. The second dose tested better than the first, in my opinion. The second dose kicked in more quickly and I’ve been sitting in the bathtub since I took it, watching shows on my iPad between using the toilet about every 10-15 minutes. 6:40 am now and almost clear!"

For Bowel Preparation "Plenvu was relatively easy to take. Low volume, not like the previous gallon you had to drink. I followed directions as provided by my doctor. I had chills after taking it and a headache off and on. It started working about 20 minutes after drinking the first packet and water chaser. Seemed to be working well. My last dose was at 9 pm. My appointment was 11:30 am next morning. I was in bed by 11:15, slept well, up to go again once. Next morning I went 3 more times before 8:30 am. My last movement was at 10:30 am. I still had particles in my stool. The doctor called my prep suboptimal in his report. Easier to take, but didn’t work as well. I wasn’t allowed to drink after midnight and oddly enough, I kept having to urinate a lot in the hour prior to the colonoscopy, which was uncomfortable and embarrassing. I will not use this prep again."

For Bowel Preparation "Absolutely the most vile-tasting thing I ever drank! First dose was almost impossible to get down. Made me feel feverish, have chills, and have a headache. Second dose was even worse (didn't think that was possible). Caused me to vomit about halfway through and could not finish the dose. Tastes like wet sand mixed with salt water and lemon. Recommend very light meals leading up to the first dose and liquid diet the day of the first dose. Never again! 1 = effective (but horrible)"

For Bowel Preparation "I went into using this prep with such anxiety from reading reviews. I have had several colonoscopies over the years, so I’ve tried a few. This was not bad at all. I ate light for several days before doing prep. The taste was tolerable. I did chill it and used a straw. Had lemonade to drink alongside. Had chills, but no stomach cramps at all. I have IBS and was worried about that. Took about one hour after each completed dose to have movement. Oh, and use some ointment to avoid irritation. The colonoscopy was done successfully. Good luck."

For Bowel Preparation "Last colonoscopy I had was 3 years ago. Plenvu is more advanced, I’d say, than preps before. I have had to drink awful stuff over the years (I’m 63), and this-while unpleasant-was doable. Wish I’d tried the straw, like other reviewers have done-oh well. It works fast. I was given different instructions by my doc and told not to use the directions on the box. My first dose at 5 pm. I am a water drinker, so I downed the 16 oz in less than a minute, followed by 20 oz of water. Started feeling it in about 30 min, but the worst part was the chills-major chills. 2nd dose at 9 pm also downed quickly, except for the last teaspoon-wouldn’t go down. Straw would really help, I think. Chills lasted all night. Unfortunately, I planned poorly and had a big mess-it’s fast and a bit disorienting-dizzy-I felt a bit sick. Plan well! You may not be able to fix your problems once you start. I’d do it again, I think."

For Bowel Preparation "I had this for a colonoscopy, and to be honest, if I did research right when they told me that this was the prep, I would have requested a different prep. I was really nauseous with the first dose and had chills. It did start to clear my bowel. I kept going for about 5 hours and was able to sleep for 3 hours. I took the second dose 30 minutes early and took my time drinking it. Again, I had extreme chills, and it started to take effect 1 hour after the dose."
