"I checked out the reviews the night I was to start this for my first colonoscopy. I was horrified, almost to the point of tears. I debated even going through with it! I’m glad I decided to do it. The taste was not the greatest, but tolerable with water after every drink. I started taking it at 5 pm. It started working within the hour, no cramping, no stomach upset. I was done by 10 and slept all night. I woke up at 5 am to start the next dose, which I thought was better than the first. Again, it started working within the hour and was done by 9:30 am. No adverse reactions! I wish I had never read the reviews on this. The taste was the worst, the first dose tasted like mango flavor with salt water, the second dose was fruit punch with slight salt water, but it was tolerable with water after every drink. They found 1 polyp and removed it, benign, thank God! I fully recommend this product!"

"This is absolutely the worst tasting thing I have ever come across. The 'fruit flavors' don't help at all. If anything, they make it worse. It's a combination of really sweet and really salty, and quite frankly, I don't know if there's anything worse. A new formula is absolutely necessary because judging by the reviews, 9 out of 10 patients have mutual feelings towards it. Absolutely disgusting."

"Wow, finally a prep that is easy to take. Mixed prep with very cold water, drank with straw, down in 5 minutes. No discomfort at all, worked within an hour. Both preps were easy to take, and no negative effects. Makes GoLYTELY seem like waterboarding torture!"

"Did the 2-stage MoviPrep for the first time and it was the easiest and best prep I have done, and I've done four. I have had poor preps in the past, so I decided to reduce fiber intake the week before, which also helped. I chilled the first 32 ounces and started at 1 PM, and drank 8 oz about every 20 minutes. The taste was not that bad, and I chased each dose with an ice popsicle and some water. It was not nearly as bad for me as MiraLax or GoLYTELY, which I could not tolerate. No nausea, no cramping, just some gurgling as the stuff took effect. After the first dose, I was not completely clear, but the second dose (6 PM) did the trick. Colonoscopy itself was a breeze (propofol is your friend, do not settle for IV Demerol), always enjoy the initial feeling of falling off, did not remember a thing, and woke up a little groggy but fine. The doc said the prep was excellent, and no polyps or abnormalities were found. Overall, the best experience for me in now 5 tries. Hope this reassures and helps someone else."

"I was apprehensive about taking Plenvu after reading so many negative reviews, but I actually had a decent overall experience. I followed all the prep guidelines from the doctor & utilized the Two-Day Split-Dosing plan. A lot of people reported problems with nausea, so I got a prescription for Zofran from my doctor. Overall, I would not hesitate to use this prep again. It was a huge improvement over the stuff I had used 10 years ago. Less liquid to drink, less time glued to the toilet, and I was able to get some sleep between Dose 1 and 2. There were a few tips I found very helpful: 1. Be sure to use cold refrigerated water. 2. Shake it up really well to make sure all the powder gets dissolved. 3. Drink it with a straw placed at the back of your mouth. 4. The taste was tolerable, but would have been much worse if I had tried to drink it like a regular glass of liquid and let it run over the taste buds in my tongue! Rinse your mouth out with water after each continuous gulp of liquid."

"Advice, advice, advice!!!! Completed first ever MoviPrep for colonoscopy. Things you will find out: it doesn’t taste great. It works, and you can’t wait until it’s over. Things you should know: get soft toilet paper, have disposable wipes, and use Vaseline. Your bum is going to get irritated because of the frequency of movements and wiping. Honestly, the worst part was the pain from my irritated bum (outside of the drinking of the prep). I started at 12 PM and did the second dose at 6 PM. It’s constant bathroom trips, so be ready. But I could honestly say that if I had known to have the things I listed when I started this, it would have been a lot more tolerable. I wish someone would have told me..."

"Had to have a procedure yesterday which required MoviPrep to completely clear me out. I was fortunate enough to receive the lemon version which caused me to constantly gag with every slight sip. It’s absolutely disgusting, and I feel for anyone having to take it. What I did to get the best success with this was to mix it with Sprite/7UP. I’d do 60% of my glass with the MoviPrep and 40% with Sprite. Before I started mixing it with Sprite, it took me two hours to go through two glasses. After mixing it with Sprite, I was able to comfortably drink it when it was time to get through it. Make sure you have wipes rather than toilet paper, you’ll need them. Best of luck with whatever you need this for, you’ll smash it. This will ensure you are properly cleared out, trust me."

"My experience was a breeze. Took 1st dose the day before at 2:30 pm, had a significant 'diarrhea' bowel movement about 30 m later, not much. No sitting on the toilet for hours, no soiling my pants... Got up at 4:15 am for the 2nd dose, had 3 mostly liquid bowel movements before heading to the hospital. No risk of 'losing it' before reaching the bathroom, should have gone back to bed. I was afraid to go back to bed. Last bowel movements clear and yellowish, post-procedure notes state that the prep was excellent. Taste wasn't great, Gatorade didn't really taste better. Used a straw, drank the 16 oz in 3 big gulps. No biggie. Drank an extra gallon over the prep time: tea, water, Gatorade, chicken stock... Stopped 2 h before the procedure. Everyone is different, but it was hassle-free for me"

"Literally makes me shake with fear drinking this. You think you can just down it in the style of 'I'm a celebrity' and hold your nose. For some reason you can't. The taste means after a couple of swallows you are gagging and have to stop. It's 2019 and how come there is not an alternative to this is literally mind-boggling. Does what it's supposed to, but bloats you up terribly and makes me cry."

"It is three hours post taking the 2nd dose, and I am not sure if I am finished yet, but I am at the yellow output stage. I am writing this before I forget to. In reading some of these reviews, I was afraid of this as a first-time colonoscopy patient. The drinks are gross but not undrinkable. I alternated between the prep and ginger ale. I also used refrigerator-cold water to make my prep and drank it through a straw. Last night it took more than an hour for the first dose to work. I started at 4 PM and was done well before bedtime. This morning I started at 6:15, and it took less than 30 minutes for things to start moving. The morning dose does not give you much warning, so stay very close to your bathroom. I think, because it's mostly liquid, your ability to hold it is less effective than when it's solid or even diarrhea. I've never done it with the other preps, but as far as I can tell, this is better than drinking a gallon of the other stuff."

"Took my first dose of MoviPrep at 6 am in preparation for my colonoscopy. Difficult guzzling my liter of prep that early. Drank it down over the next hour while dozing. Awoke at 10 am to prepare for the second liter dose. Still nothing. All of a sudden, there came a gripping tummy pain. Dashed to the bathroom and had a brown jetwash. Done. Thirty minutes later, another gripping pain. Dashed to the bathroom and had a yellow jetwash. Done. Thirty minutes later, another gripping pain. Dashed to the bathroom and had a clear jetwash. Done. Ordeal over. No major issues. I'm more evacuated than a London kid during WW2."

"I was directed to use Plenvu for my last colonoscopy in Feb 2019. My insurance company wouldn't cover the $150 cost. My GI's office then gave me a sample. It was the fourth colonoscopy that I have had. I have a strong family history of colon cancer and have had polyps in the other 3 procedures. I followed the Plenvu directions. It was the most difficult prep I have ever used. I had vomiting and bowel evacuations for the last 6 hours before the procedure. I had leakage that lasted for about a week after the procedure. I could not leave my home. I then lost 10 pounds over the next 3 months. I had no appetite and I had no energy. I lost about 35% of my hair. It took 1 year before I felt better."

"This was my second colonoscopy. For my first, the prep was a Miralax prep, this second one was GoLYTELY. I'm an RN, and the difference between the two was markedly different. The GoLYTELY sat in my stomach for the first couple of hours, then it started to work. Too well. I had a couple of accidents without warning. But I'll say this for it: once you begin, you are determined to finish so you don't have to repeat it. There was no real covering the taste, which I compare to salty plastic. I did not experience any nausea. With the Miralax, my tummy actually felt better for a week or so. Not so with the GoLYTELY, which has left me feeling a little inflamed. I think I also cleared better with the Miralax. When it's time to repeat the procedure, I will decline the GoLYTELY prep in favor of the Miralax if possible. Overall, it isn't the end of the world. But this kind of prep is the reason that many people avoid this life-saving procedure."

"I did the split dose and was able to get it down with no issues. I mixed the solution a few hours in advance and let it chill in the fridge. I drank half at 5 pm instead of 6 (with no straw so I could get it down faster), had water, then finished the rest about 10 minutes later, followed by more water. It tasted like a fruit drink to me. The first dose took about an hour to kick in, but once it did, I had no cramping, discomfort, etc. Just a lot of watery movements. It did, however, make me extremely cold. After a couple of hours, I was done for the night and able to get a good night's sleep. Took the second dose this morning at 6 am, and within 20 minutes it started working. Same experience as last night, and an hour later, I'm in great shape for my colonoscopy! I'm thrilled that this was the complete opposite of what I expected and feel a huge sense of relief that the process worked as needed."

"Started drinking this concoction, and the very first thing that came to mind was, 'Why does this stuff have to taste so bad? Why can't it have a nice chocolate flavor? Is the science that created it incapable?' I mean, really, does it need to taste like what it is meant to produce?"

"Absolutely horrendous experience. I would never recommend anyone do MoviPrep for bowel prep for a colonoscopy. It took me over 3 hours to get the first liter down, I gagged and almost vomited many times. I finally figured out the only way it works for me is chilled right out of the freezer after mixing, and with a Sprite in my other hand to chase it. Gulp, chase with Sprite, repeat. I’m currently on the second liter and still really struggling, I’ve drank 1/4, so a long way to go. :( Never again. By the last of the first liter, I was cursing everything from the manufacturer to my life to everything."

"This was absolutely awful. I had the lemon-lime flavor. Remember that scene in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince when Dumbledore has to drink the entire potion of despair and begging to not have to drink it anymore? Like he'd rather be killed than drink it? Literally my experience with this prep."

"I was given a box of Plenvu in the doctor's office. It contains aspartame. I am not allergic to it, but I do not use artificial sweeteners. I was in remission with my ulcerative colitis for two years. During the bowel prep, I saw red blood. Then, after the colonoscopy, more blood. Then, for three months, back on all medications because the aspartame triggered my autoimmune disorder and the colitis came back. I will be careful now and not use anything with aspartame in it in the future. Hope this helps anyone that suffers from this condition."

"I took Plenvu prior to a colonoscopy. I have had severe constipation for a long time, 2 previous colonoscopies were not successful because I was not cleaned out enough. Plenvu was my last resort, and within 30 minutes, it began to work and cleaned me out completely by following the dosing directions. I would HIGHLY recommend Plenvu for everyone!"

"This worked perfectly. My directions were to drink half the bottle at 4 PM, and then the other half five hours before my scheduled arrival time for the procedure, which was 7 AM. I followed the directions to the T, but nothing happened after the first half of the prep. It did the second, though. However, my stool was not absolutely clear and still had residue in it at the last movement. I was worried, so I took a picture and brought it in to the surgery center where the nurse told me that’s absolutely what they looked for: yellow, almost clear with sediment. So don’t get discouraged if you are still passing a little bit of “sediment.” I would recommend also drinking additional fluids. I put 3 envelopes of Crystal Light lemonade in the jug, and it tasted EXACTLY like lemonade poured over ice. Had NO problem drinking it down."

"In the midst of prep now. Finished the first half and have to get up at 4 AM for the second. It works really well, and I have to say I was very worried, but it had been a pleasant surprise. The taste is not horrible, very tolerable, and yes, I am definitely getting cleaned out. No cramps or nausea. A little bloating, but I would expect that from drinking this much of any liquid in such a short time. I have IBS and was worried I would have a lot of pain, but it’s been the opposite. I know others can have a different experience, but I just wanted to share a positive one."

"This is my second colonoscopy prep within one week. I prepped the first time by taking Suprep and it was awful. The taste was terrible and made me so nauseous. So when my doctor ordered a second prep, I was so scared, and the fact that I had to drink 4 liters of a prep terrified me. But I am so glad I read the GaviLyte-G advice and tips on this tread because I mixed this prep with Crystal Light, and it is a breeze!!! I wish I would have known this the first time around."

"I had a lot of anxiety about taking this after reading negative experiences and because I have emetophobia. But taking this for a bowel prep was really not that bad at all. I didn't feel nauseous, and there weren't any painful bowel cramps of the kind you might have when you get sick, which were the two things I was most afraid of. It just felt like a normal BM was coming and then... surprise, it was liquid. I created an account to leave this review in the hopes that it helps assuage someone else's anxiety. Also, the first dose didn't taste that bad to me at all, but I'm only giving it an 8 because the second dose tasted bad - seems like they could just make it taste more like the first dose and it would be fine."

"I read the reviews here and was prepared for a real horror story. It's nowhere near as bad as people make out! I never tried the unadulterated flavor, but mixed in one part sugar-free orange squash to four parts water, and it was fine. Not something I'd be gagging to drink every day, but certainly no worse than a vitamin C fizzer or rehydration salts. The relentless butt fountain does get a little wearing and wasn't as satisfying a sensation as I thought it might be, but true to the literature, it really only lasts a couple of hours – and it was never so furious that I got caught short. Smells diabolical, though that might be the results of the low-residue diet. I found three days of having to eat white bread and pasta and zero vegetables much more arduous than necking down a liter of MoviPrep."

"Prep for my first colonoscopy. Mixed as directed with lukewarm water and started drinking. Taste got better after a while in the fridge. I was not looking forward to this based on everything I had heard. Started working about 1 1/2 hours after I started drinking. Honestly, not that bad. Tastes like a thick Gatorade (I added the lemon pack it came with). I mean, of course, having diarrhea overnight is not fun, but I was expecting a horrible experience. Just start off with a good mindset and get it done! Good luck to all!"
