"I’ve used trulance 3 mg for about 3 months now It worked really well at first but now it’s not working so good My ammonia level in my blood is very high and I thought I’d found the miracle drug .. Quit working after one month of taking I’m moving on to something else This medicine has crazy side effects as well I would not recommend this medicine"

"I have a barrel full of gastro diseases. I was prescribed Trulance for chronic constipation and gastroparesis. I don't take it every day, but when I do, I have a bowel movement within 2 hours and it's done within a few hours (I take it when I get home from work). I have no side effects except for some diarrhea mixed with solids. Do note that if you do not drink liquids when you take Trulance, you probably won't have a BM. Trulance works by drawing liquid into your small intestine. If you're already dehydrated, Trulance more than likely won't work. If you're feeling "sick" after taking Trulance, again, it is more than likely because of dehydration. Make sure you can keep liquids down prior to taking, during, and after taking Trulance, that's how Trulance works."

"I have struggled with chronic constipation my entire life. I am a 29 year old female and my gastro dr prescribed me Trulance over 2 weeks ago. For the last 11 yrs I have tried everything including amitiza, linzess, bag enemas, miralax, dulcolax, etc. None worked. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis, celiac disease and Chronic constipation. My entire colon is slow transit. I was really optimistic when I saw other reviews saying within 2 hours they were having diarrhea. I was surprised some people gave up taking this drug due to the diarrhea. I have a 4yo son I don't have time to feel awful anymore. I am so disappointed. Over 2 weeks on Trulance and nothing. Just bloating and gas. I plan on seeing my dr and asking about removing some of my colon. I am desperate to stop feeling toxic. I am glad this medication works for some people. I would recommend to at least give it a try you could have better results than what I did. Good luck!"

"On Trulance I had nothing but daily pain after three weeks usage. No improvement at all. Even tried enemas to get things going and...nada. Also I have been binge eating and gaining lots of weight. Going to discontinue. I hope others have more success."

"The first 3 days I experienced diarrhea within 2 hours of taking Trulance 3mg tablet. I continued taking it and I am now 15 days in and have to take an enema for constipation. Seems that Trulance is no longer effective in my system. I am very disappointed!"

"I wish I could report a positive experience with this drug but I cannot. After one week I had such severe side effects that I stopped. I think this drug was pushed to market without adequate testing as I know two other people who tried this drug with horrible results. As for myself, after the week my abdomen hurt so much I cursed the day I started it. It has been three weeks and my abdomen is still so sore eating is the not even on my mind. I would not recommend this drug to anyone. It produces a modest bowel movement but the side effects far outweigh its effectiveness."

"So the first two days I was like Yes! It worked and it was normal cramp free BM. Next day a bit of diarrhea, but only two BMs like that. Well I decided to just take half of one. No cramps or pain, no BM. Skipped another day and then today I took a half. It's been two hours of off and on the toilet. I stopped having any thing solid. It's like I am going pee, but through my behind. ); don't let this sway you from trying, but stop if this happens to you."

"Used Amitiza for 8 years until it stopped working. Linzess for about 2 years before it stopped working. Switched back to Amitiza at twice the dose and experienced terrible heartburn. My insurance company changed to Trulance and I am glad they did. It has been the very best. Works well daily within 2 hours of taking it. I do occasionally have a day with no bowel movement. Usually normal, soft constituency stool. No cramping. Occasional mild diarrhea. No other side effects. I also eat fiber, take fiber supplement and drink 3-4 quarts of water a day."

"Have been suffering chronic constipation for years and recently developed abdominal pain that I’ve gone so far as having a colonoscopy to explain, but remains unexplainable. Doc put me on Trulance after Amitiza attempt. It helps my pain tremendously when so far nothing else even touches it. It doesn’t, however, do much for my constipation. If it did, it’d be my miracle drug!"

"It has been a long journey and not all that successful. One of the biggest problems is that the pill can take several hours to work. Once in awhile the pill does zip. My past GI doctor was not friendly and boarding on rude. I am going to a new GI doctor/practice because I need a fresh start. I follow a Fodmat diet. When I do take the pill I feel like I am confined to my house. Something has to happen soon. I have no words of encouragement to share at this point."

"Been having constipation for over a year due to autonomic neuropathy, I was only going perhaps once a week or less and than it was a small amount. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis and put on that medication. The constipation continued. Went back to the Gastrologist who prescribed this medication. On morning of the 9th day (8 days of taking med) it finally kicked in, filled the pot, twice that day. However, constipation continued to point I had blockage. I have had no relief since day 9, have used for 6 weeks so far. I take the med same time each day. Its like taking nothing, again. I have started experiencing headaches, unknown if related to this particular medication or to the autonomic neuropathy. Will be returning to dr for other ideas."

"Took it for a week. I've been so bloated with horrible gas pain the whole time. Diarrhea all day and then when the diarrhea is done, I strain to pass the same small pellet stool I have when I don't take anything. Tried splitting the pill in half and get the same results. Drinking 3 liters of fluids a day and still feel dehydrated. The only good thing I can say about this medication is that it was a free sample at my doctors office."

"I must admit I was skeptic at first to try prescribed drug for constipation, but it works better than other over-the-counter drugs that I tried before. I empty my bowel daily now, with no effort and no extra pain!"

"I'm having a hard time with this trulance because it's giving me stomach cramps , making my stool a little hard , also making my rectum very sore. So I'm getting very frustrated because nothing seems to work to help have a bowel movement . I only have a bowel movement about 5 times a month and my weight is going up. I hardly can't eat anything because no bowel movement. This medication is a sample for me to try out."

"After being on linzess for 2 years where that med caused me a range from horrible diarrhea to not working at all so my gastro put me on this new med. It seems to work within the hour of taking it and I do not get serious diarrhea like linzess gave so that's great. I am bloated but it's to early to tell if it's from this med or not since I only been on it for 2 weeks. I just hope it doesn't cause me weight gain like linzess did. One thing I do notice is that I feel tired since taking this medicine which I don't think is just a coincidence. I'm going to try this for a month and see if that side effect goes away."

"I used to have to push very hard to be able to poop. It would take me 20-30 minutes just sitting there and making a huge effort. I started developing severe abdominal pain to the point I couldn’t even walk. Several times I dropped on the floor unable to walk. I thought the pain was related to my IUD device so I removed it hoping it would help. It was on that visit that my gynecologist recommended me that if the pain didn’t go away that it was possible I had Chronic Idiopathic Constipation and that a new treatment called Trulance was available. The pain didn’t go away so I decided some over the counter laxatives but they would make me get diarrhea. So finally I changed my diet and I noticed that as long as I didn’t ate any processed foods I would be ok but as soon as I ate anything ‘unhealthy’ I would get cramps again."

"I started taking this medication 2 days ago and within an hour of taking my first pill I was having a bowel motion. I have taken laxatives everyday for 2 years straight. I went to the GI Dr on Friday and she gave me samples to try and I love it so far."

"I have IBC and after years of laxatives and enemas which stopped working I was put on linzess for just shy of two years. I gained weight had horrible bloat and brain fog feeling. I could not take linzess every day and in the last few month linzess raised my blood pressure. I just started Trulance for a week, I had diarrhea movements within two hours but do not feel bloat or in that horrible brain fog anymore also stopped gaining the weight linzess was causing I am praying this will keep working for me"

"Trulance is an amazing drug that has been life-changing for me. I was suffering from such severe constipation that I could barely eat, had horrible abdominal cramps, and was losing too much weight. Now that I am taking this medication, I am pretty much back to normal. Some people who give the drug a bad review because it works REALLY well for constipation probably didn't need it as much as I do!"

"I started on Trulance close to a month ago. I have chronic constipation due to massive nerve damage in lumbo/sacral region caused by a spinal cord disease. Since taking this medication I have actually gained 10lbs which I do NOT need, and I am developing sinus problems which is what happened when I took Linzess. I was on an antibiotic every 3-4 months while taking Linzess. I have no appetite with Trulance but I am still gaining weight? Has this happened to anyone else?? I'm at a loss what to do bc I'm out of options. I've taken all OTC medications and scripts and NOTHING is working. The Trulance is a hit/miss situation like Linzess was. Any certain things anyone has done to help with this?? I'm desperate. Thank y'all. "

"Started 2 weeks ago. Take it every night. No significant AEs except increased gas after taking. The gas actually helps reduce bloating though, so I don't mind. Have not noticed improvement in BMs yet, and feel very backed up. Wondering if I need to clean out with mag citrate before starting this drug, as I can tell I am still full of stool that isn't coming out. Will have the urge for BM and then only pass a very small amount. I will give it another few weeks and update my review if things improve. So far not thrilled, as I was hoping this would help me :/"

"I have Chronic Constipation all my life - I’m 50years old. No Pain but I can go a week easy only having about three rabbit size bowel motions. On a good week I might go 3x a hard 5 inch bowel motion. I decided to start it in a particularly bad week, at night. No cramps but lots of gurgling. Two times I went an ok BM but at least it was back to back. Third morning was HORRIBLE. Diarrhea so bad I couldn’t control the flow like a colonoscopy prep, for hours, but dark brown like it was clearing me out all the way. I was housebound for hours. Sorry. Not for me. Back to over the counter laxatives which stop working. I had high hopes."

"I started taking this a little over a month ago. Was taking it for 2 or 3 days straight and had trips to the bathroom for long periods after. I had enough at that point because you can't live a normal life. I called the dr, told him I'm done and he advised me to take it every other day. He advise me that it has to work into your system and to stick with it. It does upset my stomach some for a short time after, but nothing like it was when I took it daily and do not take any dairy because that makes it worse. I've noticed that of I skip an extra day my stomach gets more upset when I take the next dose. Does help with the issue but I'm not sure it is a long term answer. I still have the side pain I originally had but it has subsided some. Hope this helps."
