Trulance (plecanatide) "I have been using Trulance on an off and again basis for over a year. While it definitely helps, the side effects are truly unbearable for me. I have taken it every which way.....once every day, once every two days, three days and four days. It doesn't cause diarrhea, but terrible indigestion, feeling like my insides are burning everytime I eat anything...and I have a very bland diet. It also causes my hemorrhoids to flare and am so uncomfortable. I'm currently trying to find a more natural type of treatment..maybe magnesium, or go back to Miralax which eventually works, just takes longer."

Trulance (plecanatide) "Was prescribed a sample of this for slow digestion and constipation and no movement after taking Miralax daily for 6 days. Took it after a meal, and within 30 minutes, my stomach and butt started rumbling. Had several small movements (liquid). Ate again later, and the rest came out rapidly but cramp-free and pain-free. Everything was good until I woke up at 5 am feeling like I had the flu and was going to have diarrhea and throw up. Took a Dramamine chew, and neither happened, thankfully. The next morning, I can still feel my colon moving and making noise. It works, but be sure that you're home or near a bathroom if you eat anything. It basically turns your stomach into an instant juicer."

Trulance (plecanatide) "I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation (IBS-C) and this drug is a lifesaver for me, without it I would have had a colon resection by now. I have taken linzess and amitiza in the past and they were not effective. My doctor told me to take it with good fatty food like a handful of pecans, a handful of almonds, and a handful of peanuts. Does it produce a normal bowel movement… of course not. My G.I. tract is smoked. However, this draws enough water in that I’ve got about an hour and a half of diarrhea after an hour's wait and it cleans me out daily like clockwork. For me, diarrhea is much better than constipation. My local G.I. hadn’t heard about this fat interaction and I had not read it anywhere else. I hope it makes a difference to someone who sees this and gives it a try."

Trulance (plecanatide) "I am a 61-year-old female who has had IBS – C my whole life. My problem is bloating and not having any BMs for several days. I’ve tried other drugs: Zelnorm ( worked well but taken off the market ), Amitiza, and Linzess. Have been on Trulance for six days and only after two days did I have two medium BMs. The first two days I took it at night and it worked on the third day. However, I had dry mouth at night and would wake up, so I started taking the drug in the morning on the next day. Since then nothing. I’ll try going back to the evening which after reading the reviews from others seems to work better. I’ll keep you posted after another week. I’m hoping this drug works. Not impressed yet but hopeful!"

Trulance (plecanatide) "Took first and last dose at 4:30pm. Two hours later had first bowel motion (BM). Was on the toilet 14 times over seven and a half hours after taking pill. Rectum very sore and some bleeding. Two more times after midnight when my sleeping pill took effect. This was worse than Linzess except only took about 30 minutes for BM after Linzess. Never again."

Trulance (plecanatide) "I waited a while to review this medicine to get my full opinion. The first day I was skeptical due to bloating and discomfort. The second day it worked and it was extreme. I had to figure out what worked best with my body. Please know everyone's body is different and this medication can definitely help if you find the right routine. To avoid the explosive trips to the bathroom I learned If I take a full pill on day one and a half pill on day two then skip the third day I have been having regular bowels daily. Sometimes they are looser but at least I don't have the pain and discomfort from constipation. I have tried for years so many different probiotics and docusate and miralax, pure aloe Vera, prebiotics, so many different things. This medicine has truly helped me. The first few days I almost stopped taking it due to the bloating, however this went away once I got cleared out and on a regular routine. I hope this helps someone unsure of this medicine. I make sure I take it 4 hrs prior"

Trulance (plecanatide) "Tried Trulance for 3 weeks. Have history of ibs-c. Have taken miralax for 3 years each night. It worked but lots of bloating and discomfort. First week on trulance was ok but hard stools. Progressed to very hard stools, terrible bleeding internal and external hemorrhoids. Tried adding citucel upon dr suggestion. Made everything worse. Stopped taking using stool softeners but will probably go back to miralax. Maybe I’m different as I have celiac but I do not recommend I’m now backed up with terrible pain"

Trulance (plecanatide) "Thank God for this pill! Was on linzess for about 3 months and even though it worked, I could not even leave my house!!! Started having to take it only when I knew I would be home. I then started taking Trulance and I don’t have as much cramping as I did on the Linzess and also it works great. Still will have liquid stool at times but nothing like the other med! Definitely recommend this. I also can take this at night unlike Linzess. My Doctor said I can take it freely which is so nice."

Trulance (plecanatide) "No way I'd use this thing again. Certainly it's not possible to do so on a regular basis. I took it several hours ago; can't stop going to the bathroom. It might work perfectly for some people though. If you can spare a day, try it, and see if it produces a normal bowel movement, or has you running to the bathroom with diarrhea. [edit/update] I can feel it trying to work *the next day* early in the morning (5:00 AM) waking me up. So no thank you to this drug again!"

Trulance (plecanatide) "Rather brutal experience, but if you have IBS-C and nothing else works—changing your diet or frantically exercising or consuming caffeine or hot water or any number of over-the-counter drugs and whatever else people tell you to try—Trulance allows you to switch from constant pain to short bouts of rapidly evacuating the contents of your intestine. The number of times a day can vary, especially at first. Please drink a lot of water when taking this. I built up a pretty good level of tolerance, however, it very quickly decreased whenever I had to go on even very short breaks. I had my best experience taking it when I would wake up consistently in the morning, take it as early as possible with plain Greek yogurt, and then have a relatively active day. I have no idea if this has anything to do with it being more tolerable. I wish more research would go into IBS-C so that we had better options, but for those with no other choice, Trulance works."

Trulance (plecanatide) "IBS-C and Linzess did now work for me... Been using Trulance for almost 4 months now and overall it had really helped me. It works best for me either right before or right after a meal, about an hour after taking, my stomach starts the rumble and grumple and within a few hours it does give you diarrhea (some days worse than others) and with me it’s usually more than 1 trip to the bathroom... I will say it’s not super consistent for me, some days I go and other days I get the rumbling without going but I’ll take that over not being able to go for weeks at a time. Sometimes get cramps and lots of gas and dizziness but usually only when I ate bad food or haven’t eaten at all."

Trulance (plecanatide) "It was the worst medicine for my IBS. I took it around 4:45pm, the same day I got them as samples from my Dr. I was in the bathroom 1 and half hours later with severe diaper rash. I've never had a medicine work so fast and it was awful. It was like I took the prep for the colonoscopy. At 4am, I have a rumbling stomach ache. Unless you have constipation so bad with IBS, this could be a help!!"

Trulance (plecanatide) "I have fairly severe IBS-C and have tried many things in an attempt to mitigate it. A whole bottle of Miralax has never helped me, nor do other products like that. Prior to taking Trulance I was on Linzess and while it did help with constipation, I had extremely runny stool and developed an allergic reaction to it. Not only was I extremely dehydrated, but I became itchy and broke out into hives until I stopped taking it. After that, I started Trulance and have had a mostly positive experience with it. Trulance does not dehydrate me nearly as badly as Linzess did and it does help produce bowel movements. However, I have decided not to take Trulance daily as directed because I just don't like or have the time to run to the bathroom each morning. Instead, I take it once or twice a week(when things have gotten uncomfortable for me) with dinner. Occasionally it doesn't work or gives me acid reflux, which is likely because I don't take it daily. However, the price is my biggest issue."

Trulance (plecanatide) "I struggle with severe constipation. (Maybe IBS-C not sure). My Dr prescribed this since I have a bowel movement only every 3-4 weeks . I tried every OTC laxative you can buy and nothing worked. Not even the enemas. So I gave Trulance a try. The first time I took it it started to cause pretty painful stomach cramps 2.5 hrs later for about 15 minutes and then after I had several bowel movements. I do not take this daily because I am afraid of having the stomach cramps etc at work. So I’ll take it once or twice a week. I’d say definitely give this med a try! One time I did take it and I didn’t have a bowel motion but 90% of the time I will get complete relief within 3 hours. It does cause a little stomach pain after going to the bathroom, but it goes away in about an hour. The first time I used it I lost 5 pounds. I really hope it helps anyone struggling with severe constipation."

Then finding a good gastrointestinal doctor that really took the time to help me. Then he recommended Trulance and I was sceptical at first then figured what do I got to loose so tried it and was glad I did it worked tremendously. No more pain and go regularly. Also no side effects."

Trulance (plecanatide) "I have been taking Linzess 290mcg capsules, since 2017 for IBS-C. Also taking up to 1,200 mgs (Colace) per day. Sometimes would need 20mg of Dicyclomine for abdominal cramps. I stopped taking Linzess Sept 9, 2022; started Trulance the next day. Had two normal BMs that day. Began having incredible lower abdominal pain the next day. Constipation continued. The abdominal pain continued non stop for days. Day 9, I had diarrhea six times in 45 minutes. Day 15 stopped taking Trulance. Day 18 I tried it again, no change in cramps. Day 19 had a fever 100 in the evening, feeling sick. Day 20 feeling better took two laxatives plus MiraLAX. Some residual abdominal soreness. Will not be trying Trulance again, will probably go back to Linzess."

Trulance (plecanatide) "First time taking this for my irritable bowel syndrome and constipation was yesterday after breakfast and exactly 1 hour after taking the pill my stomach was rumbling an I had diarrhea. I pooped about 8 times yesterday with the constant “gotta poop “ feeling all day.. I was liquid pooping after the 2nd trip, even at bedtime I felt the “Gotta poop “ feeling but only pooped once during the night. I did have bloating and gas but I was afraid to fart because it felt like I’d poop on myself. I took linzess for 1 month and gained 15 pounds! So I stopped taking it immediately plus it never made me poop everrrrr. Today is day 2 on Trulance, I took my pill 10 mins ago and already feeling things moving in my tummy. No side effects for me except the poops all day.. I definitely wouldn’t take this before I had to work that day."

Trulance (plecanatide) "I have struggled with IBS symptoms my whole life often with constipation and even occasional diarrhea. My GI doctor prescribed Trulance and I was hopeful at first but after taking it for about a month it did not work for me unfortunately. Extreme diarrhea everyday that last anywhere from 2-5 hours within an hour to and hour and half after taking the medication. My doctor is now prescribing Linzess. I'm optimistic. If it doesn't work I'll stick with coffee and fiber."

I do not recommend this trulance. Am having some gross feeling in my gut now. 7 1/2 hours later. Glad some have good luck. But I did not. So disappointed pharmacist told me many have good luck. Trulance (plecanatide) "I have tried other medications for constipation, but nothing compares to Trulance. I find that I have to drink a lot of water with it (I aim for a gallon) to help flush out my gut. When I have a bowel movement, I no longer feel bloated. I want to have a bowel movement on my own; however, until there is a solution, I will continue to take Trulance."
