For High Blood Pressure "Was a bit scared to start on perindopril. I always had high-ish blood pressure (140/90) but recently, health issues + anxiety (and taking too many Advil and Sudafed) made my BP climb to 190/110! I was put on Perindopril 8 mg. The first couple of weeks, my BP was all over the place, from really high to really low. At week 3, it stabilized to about 135/80. For me, this drug has been very effective, and so far I don't have many side effects... A little dizzy at times, headaches, and once in a while, heart fluttering for a second or two. But other than that, the most noticeable side effect is much lower anxiety! I used to often experience physical anxiety - fast heartbeat, chest tightness, a sense of dread and unease... And to my surprise, Perindopril has greatly reduced all of these symptoms (my doctor said this wasn't very common in her experience, but could certainly happen). Everyone is different, but I hope it works as well for you as it does for me!"

For High Blood Pressure "In 5 months, this drug has caused 50% of my hair to fall out. Nowhere is this noted as a side effect. Apparently, there was a study done at a Polish university where rats had the same issue as I did, and it showed toxicity in the hair follicles and caused drug-induced alopecia, but I guess it’s okay for us to take with no warnings?"

For High Blood Pressure "Been taking 8 mg now for six months. Severe back pain, no energy, feel 10 years older, it's shitty having to take meds, damned if you don't, damned if you do. Tell the doctor you are having these side effects, and they go???? Really??"

For High Blood Pressure "I have been on perindopril 4mg for 3 months now, and since then my BP has increased to higher levels than I have ever seen before. Due to coronavirus, I do not want to go to the hospital. My doctor has advised me to double the dose to 8mg and will call back in a week. But since then, my BP has remained the same at 154/110 and has not come down. I have trouble sleeping, have headaches, unusual tiredness... I need to get off this med before it finishes me."

For High Blood Pressure "I have been taking this medication for several years now, which has kept my BP stable. I hadn't found any noticeable side effects until earlier this year, but I now wake up with a feeling like there is something in the back of my throat when I swallow. I have a blocked nose which turns drippy as the morning goes on, plus occasional sneezing and a dry cough. I have checked online and apparently, cold symptoms are quite common. Don't know why they have taken so long to appear though."

For High Blood Pressure "The cure is worse than the condition. After going on the drug perindopril for a few weeks, I had terrible backache. I could hardly walk. I thought I would have to quit my job. Pins and needles in my hands, strange dreams, tiredness, stomach, and abdominal ache. My blood pressure was okay, though. After spending a small fortune on physiotherapy and diagnostics, I finally worked out it was this drug. I threw it straight in the bin."

For High Blood Pressure "Taking perindopril 4mg for over 2 years, my blood pressure went down from 190/130 to 130/85 in a couple of days. But now, after so long taking the medication, I am starting to feel something is not right as I have muscle pain, dizziness, headaches, and my heartbeat went down to 50bpm. Maybe it's time to change..."

For High Blood Pressure "I have been on this for high blood pressure for about two years. I have now changed because I can’t handle the effects. I have a very bad dry cough, keeps us up at night and a thirst for water and crave sodium so bad that’s become almost unbearable. Also, serious body aches and nose congestion! It works well on my bp, but can’t keep taking it anymore."

For High Blood Pressure "I moved to Perindopril after getting the cough with other ACE inhibitors. I read that this particular medicine has the lowest reported cough side effect and I have to say that I haven't had the cough at all. I've been on it for 6 months. I take it at night because I read research that indicated a lesser possibility of a heart attack or stroke, but that apparently has been disproved since. One thing that has confused me is the recommendation to take it two hours after food or up to one hour before, this has been a pain sometimes when eating later in the evening. However, I've just read that it can be taken with or without food so a bit confused."

For High Blood Pressure "I have been on perindopril for years now and they are not effective at all. I've had them mixed with amlodipine, which just made my ankles swell. Still, my blood pressure never came down, it reaches levels so high I've been hospitalized. I have requested a medical to sort something out, and nothing has happened. I really don't know where to go from here."

For High Blood Pressure "Sadly, I need to change my previous rating of 9, as I have to discontinue perindopril because of extreme hair shedding (I am female). I was doing so well on this drug; it lowered my blood pressure and my anxiety, and I had almost zero side effects (no cough at all!). But as the months went by, I started noticing more and more hair loss, like I have never seen before. It is not the most common side effect, but in my case, it was very severe. I first lowered the dosage to 4 mg, then tried 2 mg, but at this point, it was no longer effective in controlling my blood pressure, and the hair shedding continued. I am now on spironolactone, hair still shedding, feeling a bit despaired because pretty much all blood pressure drugs can potentially cause hair loss so... :-/"

For High Blood Pressure "As these forums usually tend toward the negative, I thought I would add my experience for balance. I have taken 4 mg for many years, and for a year, took 8 mg. Since losing weight, I am back on 4 mg. I have a slight dry cough, but nothing too troublesome and have not experienced any other adverse side effects. My blood pressure is well controlled."

For High Blood Pressure "Excellent drug with few side effects. I have only experienced a cough with the high dose of 10 mg that was really transient and disappeared when I shifted to 5 mg. I have been taking this medication for almost 11 years now. It is a perfect drug, effective and has no side effects."

For High Blood Pressure "Was given perindopril for hypertension. It has not worked after many days, even weeks. Currently taking 15 mg a day. Have read at two well-known websites, including the British NHS site, that it can take weeks to even have full effect. This is absolutely pointless, and anybody with a kidney issue must be very careful, as continued high blood pressure without adequate treatment will lead to further degradation of kidney function. Beware also of generic drugs and always insist on the actual brand name of any drug."

For High Blood Pressure "Started Coversyl 2.5 mg after my readings would show an average of 150/95. I took the first dose in the morning, and at night when going to bed, I got tachycardia, which lasted 3 hours. 150 bpm average, and it wouldn't stop. Very scary. The first 10 days were horrible: dizziness, lightheadedness, hypertension crisis, you name it. The diastolic number went down, but not the systolic one. Average reading 145/75. Experienced anxiety and panic disorder. Went to the emergency room because I was feeling very unwell. They increased the dose to Coversyl 5 mg. It was even worse, and I went to a cardiologist afterwards, who switched me to a beta blocker."

For High Blood Pressure "I have been on this drug for 4 months now and have recently been put up to a 10 mg dose, and it has not worked to help my blood pressure at all. I'm going to see the doctor tomorrow and demand they change this drug. I'm so sick of feeling like rubbish from this drug, and worst of all, really not helping my BP one bit, so very frustrating."

For High Blood Pressure "Exhausted, falling asleep at work, dry cough for 4 months and still got it. Agonizing pains in thighs and bum, painful walking, just want to sit in a chair after work, not like me at all. My blood tests and X-rays all normal, rashes on chest, water infections, dizzy, lightheaded. I had enough, chucked them in the bin, 8 mg for 7 months, waiting for an alternative BP tablet from the doctor tomorrow. Who wants to keep blacking out halfway through the day at work, at a show, pantomime, etc.? Felt shocking, not for me."

For High Blood Pressure "On morning 4 mg Coversyl for 17 yrs. 132/78, heart rate 68. I notice now, evening reading elevated to 145/87, bp 68. Will continue 4 mg mornings but take an additional 2 mg in evenings as I believe the 4 mg is wearing thin by evening and the 2 mg will help overlap and work until morning. Stay tuned."

For High Blood Pressure "I took Coversyl 8 mg for 5 weeks, and finally had to stop. The lightheadedness would start about an hour after taking the pill in the morning (about 8:00 AM), and would continue for the next 11-12 hours until the drug's effects wore off for that day. Some days, it was so bad I could not drive my car. Also, my appetite decreased, I had a terrible taste in my mouth, and it did NOT control my BP as well as they advertised. Finally, I said goodbye to this tablet and went back to my good old dependable Avapro 300 mg, which I had taken for 8 years before my cardiologist convinced me to go to Coversyl. What a mistake."

For High Blood Pressure "37-year-old male with a family history of hypertension. On 8 mg/day for 5 years now. Thinking of stopping soon. Dry cough at times, constant nasal and sinus problems since taking, heart flutters every once in a while, weekly headaches, neck pain. Does control BP for the most part but starting to not work. I missed a few doses a couple of times and felt like rubbish. Overall, not a great medication but better than a diuretic."

For High Blood Pressure "Just started on a 4 mg dose just over a week ago now. Blood pressure between 107 and 129 systolic (average 110's) and 71 to 86 diastolic (average 75) - was up 150s systolic and 90s diastolic. Surprised at how quickly blood pressure changed. No side effects to report so far."

For High Blood Pressure "BP was around 155/95 and was started on 4 mg daily of perindopril. Within 8 hours of the first tablet, BP was lower. The first week it was around 115/70, and it worked wonders. Now, after a month on it, I am up to 6 mg and taking amlodipine (calcium blocker) as well. BP has also increased to 140/90 at times (usually morning when I am due for the next dose). I’m a little less impressed now and will have to review with my doctor. No complications or side effects of note, though."

For High Blood Pressure "I use Coversyl Plus HD. It has a diuretic. I don't know if the medication is working or not because I take Doxazosin and Atenolol as well. There are some days when I feel lightheaded for a couple of hours, then that will wear off. I don't know if the medications are to blame or if something else is going on. I saw an internist last July, and he blames the lightheadedness on the Atenolol. Garbage! I know my body, and I'm sure it is not the Atenolol. I have muscle problems in my neck, also disc problems. I have burning sensations in my legs (blamed on what's going on in my spine). I'm at total wit's end with it all. I was taught that if there's something going on in the body that's not normal, then of course the body will react: hypertension."
