Penicillin v potassium for Bacterial Infection "Honestly, I felt better about 4 hours after beginning treatment with this for an infected/abscessed tooth. Surprisingly quick, considering the amount of pain I was in. The downside, for me at least, seems to be slight nausea/dizziness. I had taken ibuprofen earlier due to pain, so this meant bad times in front of the toilet. Be careful with other meds that may upset your stomach."

Penicillin v potassium for Bacterial Infection "I was diagnosed with BV and was prescribed Penicillin and MetroGel. I’ve had worse BV in the past and no side effects from the pills I took, but these, oh my gosh, I give 5 stars only because I know the medicine is working, but the way I’ve been feeling the last week is such a drag. My body is achy, and I feel extremely tired, and not to exaggerate, but even a little depressed, and can’t focus, and it’s affected my memory. Makes me feel like I just want to lay in bed. The smell of the pills is foul, and my urine smells like the pills. I understand antibiotics make you tired from them working, but I’ve never felt so lethargic before, and I drink plenty of water, and I eat very healthy. If I ever get BV again, I hope I don’t have to take Penicillin. I’m not giving a negative review, it’s just how my body reacted to it, everyone is different."

Penicillin v potassium for Strep Throat "I just started this antibiotic yesterday, and my lymph nodes have reduced in size (from kidney bean to pea), and I can now eat without severe pain. I've had a bad experience with things such as amoxicillin and azithromycin because of serious stomach upset, even when taken with food. But on penicillin VK, I haven't had any side effects. All I know is this penicillin is kicking my strep throat's butt, and I love it."

Penicillin v potassium for Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I was prescribed these Penicillin VK antibiotics for my throat. For a few days before, I was in excruciating pain, unable to swallow, eat, or sleep due to the pain. I tried almost every home remedy for a sore throat but found no relief. The only thing that seemed to help a little was ibuprofen (when I could swallow it). At the doctor, they gave me a small dose of a liquid steroid to shrink my tonsils and then prescribed the medication. Within an hour of taking it, I was able to swallow with mild pain. I even had a popsicle and a bowl of chicken broth. I then went on to sleep 8 hours! I am only 2 days in, so I still have a while to go, but I am so happy with the results so far!"

Penicillin v potassium for Strep Throat "I started feeling a little bit better on the 2nd day after starting the Penicillin VK. I had a little bit of loose stools, but I believe that happens with most antibiotics-some much worse than others. I was much better after taking all of the medication-but once you get Strep, you are prone to it. I need to have my tonsils removed-they are enormous and just catching bacteria, which causes me to continue to get Strep."

Penicillin v potassium for Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I was in so much pain. I spoke to the doctor, who said it was fine, that it would ease up in a couple of days, and that I didn't need antibiotics because it was viral. I went 2 more days, and the pain only got worse. I went to the walk-in center for a second opinion, and the doctor there told me if my tonsils got more swollen, I needed to go to A&E. She prescribed me penicillin, saying she wasn't sure it would work because she couldn’t see any white spots, but she was concerned the infection was inside. I took my first dose, and 4 hours later, the sharp edge of the pain had been reduced, and I could swallow my own saliva again! I can already tell I will be almost healed by the time 24 hours rolls past!"

Penicillin v potassium for Bacterial Infection "I recently had the opportunity to use Penicillin VK to treat a persistent bacterial infection, and I must say it was nothing short of a miracle! This antibiotic truly deserves all the praise it gets, and I'm happy to share my positive experience with it. From the moment I started taking Penicillin VK, I noticed a significant improvement in my health. The infection that had been bothering me for weeks started to clear up within just a couple of days. The relief was almost immediate, and it was such a relief to finally see progress after trying other medications that didn't work as effectively. One of the things I appreciated most about Penicillin VK was the minimal side effects. I didn't experience any major issues while taking this medication, which made the treatment process much more manageable. It allowed me to continue with my daily activities without feeling drained or uncomfortable."

Penicillin v potassium for Bacterial Infection "I have a bacterial infection in my face due to an infected tooth and was prescribed this medication. I have been taking the medication now for 52 hours and have no sign of relief. I just hope it's working. I can't take the pressure on the left side of my head for much longer before a visit to the ER."

Penicillin v potassium for Bacterial Infection "I was taking penicillin for strep throat 4 times a day, every 6 hours. The second day, I started to feel weird, like confused. My doctor told me to take it for 10 days, but I hated the side effects. I feel like this medication triggered me to feel anxiety and depression."

Penicillin v potassium for Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I took this after I got very bad tonsillitis with white spots, and I had tried to do home remedies and improve it if it’s a virus, but it was bacteria, and I had very painful tonsils. So, I got the antibiotic pills from the doctor for 3 times a day for 10 days. Today is the 3rd day, and the white spots are better, and I am better now. The first 2 days there was no difference, but on the 3rd day, it started to clear up."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "Taken for 5 days, which I don't think was long enough. I had no side effects, but I also take a prebiotic daily. It didn’t clear up the tonsillitis, but it made my throat less sore, and it also helped with my UTI. I have been prescribed another antibiotic, which has a lot scarier side effects than this one. I would recommend this, and don’t go off the negative reviews, which I did, but found I was fine on it."

Penicillin v potassium for Bacterial Infection "This is my first time taking such a high dosage of this medicine, which was usual for me, but I had a bad toothache. I have taken penicillin before but at a lower dosage, however, this new med has a higher dosage, and the side effects are bothersome. I do not truly feel it is worth continuing to take. I'm consulting the doctor that prescribed the med to me from our local hospital's ER."

Penicillin v potassium for Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I think it's the 1st time having these - the fact you need to take a 500 mg pill on an empty stomach causes me to feel nauseous and can smell/taste the medication if I burp. Tonsillitis is better, though!"

For Streptococcal Infection "Was prescribed Penicillin K V for strep twice a day, 500 mg. Am now 5 days into it, and the strep pain has been totally cured, however, the stomach cramps from the medicine are almost enough to make me quit the medicine itself."

Penicillin v potassium for Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I don’t know if anyone else has had this issue, but this medication, Penicillin VK, gave me side effect symptoms of bad headaches, body aches, stomach cramps, cold feet, and numb feet. It was good for clearing up the tonsillitis, I still don’t feel that great, but it has stopped me from feeling so rubbish. I wouldn’t take this medication again, though, due to the side effects."

Penicillin v potassium for Bacterial Infection "Been taking now for 5 days! Told to take for 10 days! Abscess on my wisdom tooth, which is impacted, and swollen gums and glands! Swelling went down some, but pain is still very active! No side effects, minus a headache here and there, but that may be from the pain pressure of the wisdom tooth! Feel like I should have some type of relief by now, but I have 5 more days! Will see how this goes."

Penicillin v potassium for Bacterial Infection "I found that Penicillin VK acted quickly and effectively against the bacteria causing my infection. Within a week, I was feeling almost back to normal, and by the end of the full course of treatment, I was infection-free. It truly lives up to its reputation as a potent antibiotic."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I think this medication killed my appetite. Also, my kidneys went crazy, and I immediately flushed out every consumed liquid. As a result, I lost enough potassium by day 4 to get strange heartbeats, twitches, racing thoughts, and purple lips. I had to go to the ER, where they hydrated me with IV saline and gave me 2 potassium pills. I could not recover from this for a couple of months. Make sure to read about hypokalemia and recognize it, as it is potentially fatal. I am not giving this drug a score because I was misdiagnosed."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I had barely any side effects on this, and my strep throat went away within two days of taking it. Sore throat, swollen tonsils, and swollen lymph nodes were all gone. The only side effects I had were some loose motions, mild stomach cramping like gas pains, and headache. But my appetite was normal, no nausea or vomiting, and I was able to continue on with my normal life throughout this medication. I was allergic to it as a kid (got hives all over my body), so I was nervous about taking it, but it seems that I grew out of the allergy."

For Streptococcal Infection "Just took my 3rd dose of Penicillin VK (I'm on one pill twice a day for 10 days). My fever and headache are gone, and my throat pain is no longer a 10, probably a 5 now. But I'm also on prescription ibuprofen she sent with too."

Penicillin v potassium for Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed this (500 mg, 3x a day) for a wisdom tooth abscess. After just one day of taking it, the pain is already much less intense. I'm not done yet, but so far, I haven't had any side effects beyond some nausea. I've taken much more unpleasant antibiotics in the past (metronidazole being the worst, but still doable) - this one is really not bad at all."

For Streptococcal Infection "Today's my second day of taking this antibiotic, and so far, I can breathe better and actually swallow, but my stomach has been non-stop grumbling and I feel lightheaded. I throw up once in a while, but other than that, it helps."

Penicillin v potassium for Bacterial Infection "I'm taking this for a tooth infection that started to spread. My lymph nodes were very painful and swollen. This med makes me feel dizzy, anxious, and a pressure in my head. It reminds me of taking cold medications. I hate that part of it. But it also seems to be fighting this tooth infection. My tooth and lymph nodes are not hurting as badly, and swelling has gone down. Still have a few days left, though."
