"This medication was an absolute GODSEND for me. I was terrified of trying another mood stabilizer after lamotrigine made me cry like a hormonal pregnant woman and messed my period up horribly on only 50mg (an extremely low dose for lamotrigine). My psych prescribed this next, but I was so scared I refused to even take it. Almost a year later, a lot of things changed, and I felt like I needed a mood stabilizer to keep my head straight. I researched, and this medication seemed to be my best bet. I'm only on 300mg currently, but I started at 150mg and only had to change dosage once so far. The only side effect I experienced was extreme sleepiness during the first few days, then it was completely gone. This medication has stabilized my mood, improved my anger issues, improved my sleep quality, helped my depression (this paired with Wellbutrin 300mg and Celexa 20mg have completely diminished my depression symptoms), and I never thought I could be this stable without having almost daily counseling."

"I’ve been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder. I’ve had 5 suicide attempts, 4 mental hospitalizations, and have struggled a lot with self-harm and substance abuse over the course of 7 months. I have been on Prozac for 6 months, and it helped somewhat but not much. I asked to be put on a mood stabilizer because sudden and extreme mood swings were a big problem for me. My psychiatrist put me on 150mg of Trileptal once per day. I’ve felt a lot better on it. My moods have been a lot less extreme, and the swings less frequent. When I take my meds in the morning, I feel dizzy for a few minutes, but that goes away."

"If there was a fire and I could only grab one of my assorted bipolar drugs, it would be Trileptal, even before Klonopin, and that’s saying a lot. Trileptal brought me out of the abyss. Love it."

For Trigeminal Neuralgia "It's great for trigeminal neuralgia pain. Aside from forgetting words and not being able to spell and weakness, the side effects are not too terrible. It is MUCH better than the TN pain."

"Dx MDD, GAD, PTSD, & BPD. 900mg/day. 1200mg/day gave me balance issues. Helps lift my depressed mood. I also take abilify, buspirone, klonopin, trazodone, and prazosin. Best combo I've found so far."

"My neurologist prescribes Trileptal for Photophobia and Phonophobia resulting from massive hemorrhagic stroke. The symptoms are inordinate sensitivity and abnormal reaction to lights, action, sounds. I often experience visual and aural hallucinations. This medication seems to lessen, not completely abate the symptoms noted."
