Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "Ever since the 5th week of my pregnancy, my morning sickness was terrible. I lost weight and couldn't keep a thing down. I could hardly get out of bed. My doctor prescribed Zofran, and it's been a huge help. Doesn't always take away the nausea feeling, but no more vomiting! Definitely recommend it."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "The side effects from various drugs, particularly morphine, caused significant nausea. In fact, I'd have to rate the nausea as worse than the actual pain. Zofran worked like a charm, quite quickly, with little side effects (as far as I know). It certainly made my recent visit to the hospital much more comfortable!"

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting, Radiation Induced "I have esophageal cancer, having radiation daily and chemo weekly. This medicine is so precise about keeping the nausea and vomiting down, I can tell exactly when a dose is due: 1 every 12 hours. I am thankful this medicine is there. The side effects are very bearable (unknown concerning liver). It is very expensive, but if you have a severe issue, the money is not your main concern. If you have cancer, there are agencies that can help with the drug cost. Try AM Cancer Soc. Maybe they can help guide you. Keep your spirits up and prayers in your daily life. Take care."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I used to take Requip for restless leg syndrome, and sometimes it made me so sick I would vomit. Other nights it would be fine. One day I decided to call my PCP for a script of Zofran or Phenergan to help subside the horrible, nasty vomiting and nausea effects of Requip, and they wrote me a script of 12 4 mg Zofran swallowable tablets. It helped almost immediately (not within a minute, but 10 minutes or less), and then I decided to stop my Requip medication because it just made me sick. My RLS went away with other meds that I take, and while I still take Zofran, I enjoy it for any spur-of-the-moment 'I'M GONNA BE SICK' kind of feeling, so I always carry it with me. At a hospital visit, they gave me a dissolvable one that tasted like berries. Good med."

Ondansetron for Gastroenteritis "Spent a week vomiting and with diarrhea. Couldn't keep anything down and was getting worse instead of better. I ended up driving to the ER with a vomit bag to my face, trying not to crap myself. When they gave me the Zofran, I felt better in 5 minutes and was able to eat a little plain chicken and rice with broth a couple of hours later. I didn't realize just how much nausea I had until the whole room suddenly stopped waving. Slept better than I have in a long time, and this morning I didn't throw up! Crackers and Gatorade for breakfast! Every 6 hours, and I love this little pill."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Zofran (ondansetron) the first time last year when I went into the ER with such severe throwing up that I thought I might not make it through the night. This little tablet and another saved me from the hell that I was going through. Fast forward to today. I have a broken foot with a torn tendon. I was given hydrocodone, and did a good bit of walking that I shouldn't have done today, so I took one midday and one later. The combination of a taco and a hot sausage sandwich left me feeling ready to purge. Luckily, I brought a few of these along with me on my trip away from home. I couldn't wait to get to the cabin and put one under my tongue. And now I'm entering this comment because this is an amazing small pill. All it takes is one and maybe one more later on if you're in bad shape to save you from being miserably ill to your stomach and possibly dealing with gross throwing up. So, I'm not a big pill taker, but this one's a winner. I only take what I need to get by."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "This medication worked wonders when I had my hip scope back in May. I only took pain pills to sleep, but when I went to shower and sat down after taking my pills, I was so nauseous and took Zofran, and it worked within 5 minutes! I actually used it for a hangover once and it still worked amazingly! Haha."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I have had three pregnancies, and with the first two, the morning sickness was bearable enough without medication. This time around, I have had trouble making it to work and have been constantly miserable, nauseous, and dry heaving. I took my first Zofran last night, and the only complaint I have is that I wish it was non-drowsy. I almost fell asleep at my desk today. However, I will take drowsiness over nausea anyway. Thank you, Zofran."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "My mother was down to 78 lbs due to nausea. Phenergan had been the only drug her Dr. would prescribe. This continued for 3 months until someone told me about Zofran. I asked if we could please try it, it was amazing. I'm positive, if we hadn't asked about this drug, she would be dead from starvation due to nausea."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I have had constant nausea for seven years related to gastroparesis and Meniere's disease (an inner ear disorder causing severe vertigo and nausea). I was finally offered Zofran on my last emergency room trip (I told the doctor if they didn't do something I was going to go insane)... Zofran has been a lifesaver, and I never go anywhere without it. And I mean that. It works like magic every time I need it. The longest it has ever taken to kick in is 45 minutes. I can't say enough good things about it. 100% thumbs up."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I was given this in the ER when I went in with nausea/vomiting problems. I've taken a couple of the 4 mg tabs since I've been home, and they work great. The problem is that I only was prescribed 5 tabs, and I'm having trouble getting more. I suffer from anxiety and am feeling nauseous on a daily basis. I also think this is pre-menopausal nausea since I've suffered from gastric problems in the past. Hoping to get more. Don't want to have to take it, but I sure want it available to me."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I use ondansetron orally disintegrating tablets that I receive via prescription (8 mg). I only use these on rare occasions when I eat badly, eat too much, or am very anxious, thereby making myself sick. It usually kicks in a few hours after I take it. (They are disintegrating, but I usually swallow them with water because the taste is unappealing to me, but so far, that has not affected its efficiency). Every time as far back as I can recall (and I have been taking this for several years), this medicine has been able to help with my nausea and vomiting. The only times I remember getting sick despite the medicine were when I got upset and cried violently, causing me to throw up. Other than that, I don't recall ever throwing up after taking it!"

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "Was diagnosed with cannabis hyperemesis about 2 months back. Unfortunately, at the time, it didn't seem like anything was going to work. Eventually, was admitted to the hospital due to severe dehydration. Body went into survival mode. Was throwing up for hours a day until dry heaving. About a month after symptoms started occurring again. Was given promethazine (which works great but sedation is tenfold) as well as it can only be taken for about 10 days at a time due to its harsh nature on the body. Started taking Zofran again, this time around it works. Knocks down the nausea from a 10 down to a 5 or 6 on good days. It really does help. I don't have any major side effects, aside from the constipation. No tiredness or dizzy spells. The activation time is about 30-60 minutes for me. Usually 4 mg every 8 hours. If that doesn't help, Benadryl 25mg 3x daily on top of it can also help with nausea."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I have severe nausea and vomiting due to an extreme case of endometriosis. I have to be hospitalized because of pain, weakness, and dehydration because of severe vomiting. I can't even hold down a tiny sip of water for 2 minutes. I have tried every medication possible, and Zofran ODT is the only thing that gives me relief! It is a prescription I always have on hand at all times."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Best. Thing. EVER. I have lived with the irrational fear of throwing up my entire life. Thank the Lord for my doctor, who told me about Zofran when I wasn’t feeling well for days. Works within 15-30 minutes. Takes away the nausea completely. I will always carry these white dissolvable pills around with me."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was experiencing a stomach bug not too long ago that was making me constantly vomit. I was vomiting so much the whole entire day I became very dehydrated, and the nausea was only getting worse. I was miserable! My advice nurse prescribed me this medication, and within 10 minutes of taking it, the nausea went away, and I was able to get some food and fluids in my body without vomiting it back up. This was my lifesaver!"

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I have gastritis and am going through a flare-up now. Very sick...nauseous for 8 hours every day. Zofran doesn't help me at all...even doubling the dose, as my doctor recommended. He is giving me Reglan. Praying that works. Nausea is the worst!"

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "Post-op pain medication was making me vomit. After trying several pain meds, it was decided that I should take 8 mg Zofran every 8 hours. The only side effect of this drug was difficulty passing urine after taking it for more than 3 days. We cut it back to two Zofran daily, and that seemed to take care of the side effect."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Zofran for nausea when I was battling C. diff colitis, and it provided instant relief. This definitely helped me keep down my food and water and eased the dreadful nauseous feeling, it even helped with heartburn/acid reflux. I had no side effects to it, and I am very grateful for this drug."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I am having severe digestive issues, and we are trying to figure out what it is. Gastritis? Gallbladder attack? (I do have a gallstone.) IBS? Ulcer? Just don’t know. I have horrible anxiety and stress when something is wrong with me. That probably adds to the nausea. I get nauseous, and it hurts like a gnawing pain. I can’t really eat, it’s miserable. Went to the ER twice, and they administered Zofran, let me tell you! It is a miracle drug! Painful nausea gone! I feel so much more calm, and the gas/bloating is gone. I didn’t experience any effects. Even if I get sleepy, it’s a welcomed side effect after feeling yucky for days! Give it a try!!"

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting, Chemotherapy Induced "Going through chemotherapy for ALL for 3 years, and I've tried EVERY available CNIV that I could get when I was doing my chemotherapy. Zofran, by far, was the best for me, specifically the sublingual (melt under the tongue). It also has a cherry taste to it, and the taste gives me an almost instantaneous feeling of the symptoms being not as bad, and then as it finally melts, it greatly reduces the symptoms, if not completely stops them. Sometimes, unfortunately, there are times that even though it reduced symptoms, the CNIV was just stronger, and I'd still not feel too well and still have CNIV. But it did at least help and make it more tolerable when it didn't completely take it away."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I got food poisoning and couldn't stop vomiting and having nausea from 3 pm to about 4 am. I was puking so much and dry heaving that I was puking up blood (YIKES!). I found some extra Zofran in my bathroom cabinet from my doctor from the other month, so I decided to take one 4 mg pill. Vomiting and nausea subsided after 15 minutes of taking Zofran. Zofran, you're a lifesaver!!! Would always like to carry this medication around with me all day if I could. Adam"

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "Zofran is amazing. Absolutely amazing. My entire life, I have feared throwing up. Not sure why, but I now have anxiety because of it. I found out I was pregnant and was slightly nauseous all day, every day, but with someone who fears vomiting greatly, I was scared and upset. My doctor finally prescribed me Zofran after visiting the hospital for nausea, and it has been helping me ever since. I have been taking it for 4 years now whenever I need it, and it takes it away immediately. So thankful."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I must say I don't have cancer, and I don't have a disease, I have a spasmodic colon, which in turn gives me a severe case of Irritable Bowel Syndrome with constipation. I usually have a bowel movement every 6-11 days, and when I do, I get extremely ill with uncontrollable vomiting due to the pain. I've tried several non-dissolving medications, and I've found that Zofran ODT (8 mg) is the best, and I will stick with it as long as it continues to work for me. I hope someone finds this helpful. If you have any form of illness that causes severe vomiting, I recommend Zofran ODT."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I like the Zofran pills when they actually work, but it seems like I have to take a pill, throw up, and then take another for it to be effective. Also, I always wake up with a headache once taken. I do want to note that when I was given Zofran in the hospital through the IV, I had no issues with nausea, it’s only when I take it orally that it does the opposite of what I’d like. All bodies are different, and this is just my reaction. I am on a low dose and have not upped the amount I’m taking. $45 for 15 pills (without insurance), and I’ve puked up half of them. Not worth it, especially when an anti-nausea causes nauseous."
