"My 13-year-old daughter suddenly broke out with chronic hives, basically covering every part of her body daily. After 4 months with not one day not covered, our immunologist got her into Xolair (2 x 150). Thank goodness after the 3rd dose (monthly), it worked, and she’s been hive-free ever since. She had her 4th dose last week, and it’s changed her life (thank goodness). She will continue on this dose for several months and will then look to increase the period between doses (to 5 weeks, etc.). Thank goodness in Australia it’s covered by the PBS. I highly recommend this product. I have written my comments because, like so many, I was constantly reading reviews, etc."

"Xolair gave me my life back! I was so miserable with CIU, and Xolair started working within 2-3 days of my first set of injections. I get maybe 2-3 hives at a time now, I sleep well and can work and exercise and do all of the things that I enjoy again now. I am scared of the side effects, and I hope I don't have to be on it for years, but I can honestly say that it has been my miracle."

"This medication is a miracle for MCAS. How much I itched even while taking 6 Allegra-D, 2 Singulair, and 2 Pepcid was making me miserable. 10 pills every day and still I was covered in hives and rashes daily. It took 2 rounds to fully work, but I would say Xolair fixes 95% of the issue. 5% left is starting reactions to my major triggers which is better than I ever expected. I have zero side effects except minor soreness at injection site for up to 24 hours."

"I just got my first shot of Xolair TODAY, for solar urticaria and chronic spontaneous urticaria, including angioedema that comes and goes, caused by random stuff-no confirmed allergies. I am a 45 y/o female in Florida, and we have a LOT of sunlight, so I have been using an umbrella, long sleeves, hats, and curtaining my house for two and a half years now. Today, that changed!!! I couldn't believe it. Within 5 hours of having the shot, I stood in sunlight with no protection, with minimal discomfort! My tiny numerous hives are down by 50-75% in numbers already! My face is still flushed, but my skin doesn't really itch like crazy now. This is a miracle drug!! I am praying this is a cure for me. I only had a 150 mg sample shot today, probably due to having milder symptoms. I also feel like my inflammation is better all over, already!!! Awesome stuff, thanks a lot, my Xolair peeps!! Also, I have had high blood pressure lately, so maybe this will bring that down while I lose weight again. Yaaaay! Happy!"

"I first got my Xolair shot in June 2022. Within 3 weeks, I would say I started seeing a huge difference! Right until my second shot, I was completely free from hives! I have struggled with this for many years (5-6 years), it's been so draining for me. Thankfully, this has helped, and my insurance covered it! I recommend Xolair."

"Xolair is a miracle worker for me. Was dealing with hives for 2 years, and after seeing several doctors (at the ER) and trying about 12 different meds, nothing worked. I couldn't be active at home because I was in so much burning and itching pain, and the same goes for me at work. Because of the hives, I was tired all the time and being lazy. Finally, I had enough and went to see my family doctor before I decided to do something much worse to myself, and he told me what it was and he directed me to a skin specialist. She gave me an injection of Xolair and in 3 days, hives were gone completely, I was no longer tired and lazy. I was supposed to go for my 2nd dose 6 weeks ago, but something got messed up with the paperwork and all the hives, tiredness, and laziness came back. I contacted the skin specialist and she is going to give me another dose tomorrow. Xolair saved my life."

"Great drug for those who suffer with chronic hives. I used to be on plaquenil, which took forever to work when I would have a flare up of a new hive cycle. Xolair works within a month, and I haven't had any nasty side effects. A small headache, and some nasal congestion post injection that typically last for a couple of hours."

"I have suffered from hives for about ten years, during which I have seen a plethora of specialists in order to mitigate my chronic urticaria. Although I have tried many prescription and OTC medications, I tried to avoid being dependent on medications and instead determine the trigger. Only recently, I had XOLAIR injections of 150mg x2 once a month. I have had no hives for two months starting after the first day. This is amazing. The side effect of a headache was present a few days after the first injections but did go away after a couple of days. A few days after the second session, the headache returned. This time the headache is much worse and has lasted for days. Three days and counting. If it doesn't go away soon, I will stop using XOLAIR as I cannot sleep with this pain."

"It works for my Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria. I still get some angioedema. I take Vitamin D - 6000 IU to help with that. One side effect has been a weight gain of 12 pounds in 4 years. I track what I eat, consume less than 1200 calories daily, exercise 4-5 days per week, and no matter what, I can't lose a pound."

"It has been a lifesaver for me. I have idiopathic urticaria. It was continuous for a year and a half. No one could help me. I went on Xolair, and I can finally live. No side effects at all. My clinic does the injection. I've never had any problems or needed my epi-pen anymore."

"I broke out in a severely itchy rash all over my torso a few years ago. It took my allergy doctor a few months to figure out that it was chronic idiopathic urticaria. The itching was causing me severe anxiety as well, it was difficult to work and even complete day to day routine tasks because the itching was so uncomfortable. Shortly after I received my first injection of Xolair, the rash cleared up and the itching was gone completely. After taking the 0.75 mg injection for 2 years, my doctor wanted to take me off of the Xolair to see if the hives returned. After 3 months and 2 days of no injection, the hives returned, so I'm back on the monthly injection. Xolair has been a lifesaver for me. I can't imagine my life trying to function with the itching, it was truly unbearable. Xolair gave me my life back. I have not experienced any negative side effects and I think it actually helps with my asthma as well."

"November 2022, started Xolair, once a month, two injections. Currently, February 2023. I have had five doses so far. Noticed ZERO improvement, only cetirizine seems to help as long as I keep upping the dosage. Sigh. Best of luck to everyone hoping for remission of this condition for you."

"I've been suffering from urticaria for about 10 years. Hot weather, stress, bad body response, and more induce the hives. The only thing that gives me relief is cold temperatures, so I usually splash myself with cold water and have been using a steroid cream as well. Last summer, it became a chronic itch from head to toe. I used to work out every day, but the itch barely lets me move around at home or even leave the house, so I'm completely out of shape now; needless to say, this situation has changed my life. I began seeing dermatologists and allergists for a solution. Fast forward to now... I've had 3 shots of Xolair on each arm (monthly 150mg/each arm injections at my allergist's office) without much success. The second month, hives were the worst. Still hopeful the Xolair will do its thing soon, so I can get my life back. I pay $5 each month through the Genentech co-pay program, highly recommended."

"Xolair has been a lifesaver! I’m completely dependent on it, and it’s the ONLY therapy that has worked. Zero side effects. My life has improved - no more steroid side effects and just living a normal life I never thought possible. I’m on the max dose and had to go back on antihistamines, but it’s still working."

"I had hives for 2 years. After that, my doctor put me on Xolair for 6 months. My doctor says the hives wouldn’t go away after 1 dose, but I might see improvements. Well, guess what? My hives are gone from the first injection. Now my last injection is in December. I hope they never come back, I am tired of it."

"Life saver, this medication helped me move on with my life as I have suffered for 10 months with hives every single day. All my blood test results were perfectly fine and I wasn’t able to find out what is causing this reaction in my body."

"Xolair took a while for it to work, maybe 5 months. Once it started working, I did not have a hive at all for an entire year. Then, randomly, a couple of weeks ago, it just stopped working. The doctor thought it was due to switching to 8 weeks, so I’m still on it. But my hives are extremely itchy and are everywhere. Super annoying."

"I have been battling with skin writing disease and Hashimoto's for 13 years now. I've seen countless (quite literally) allergists, internal medicine specialists, immunologists, dermatologists, skin and cancer care specialists, and even a mast cell activation syndrome expert. Leading up to Xolair, I was on famotidine, hydroxyzine, and Xyzal/Zyrtec anywhere from 2-4 times a day, supplementing with topical and oral steroids as needed, and 7-10 Benadryl almost every single night. My life was entirely controlled by my condition, when I could and couldn't go out, what I could wear, traveling (my dream destinations) was always my worst nightmare because I never knew how altitude, environment, etc. would affect me. When I say Xolair changed my life, it is not an exaggeration. Within a few weeks, I've been off steroids entirely, lowered my daily medicine dosages, traveled without incident, and haven't had to touch Benadryl. I'm in awe of this medication. So far, no negative side effects."

"Xolair helps with the hives, but has serious side effects. I still need double doses of antihistamine, but I'm able to continue working, so it seems worth it. I still have issues, especially in winter when I am less active. Exercise really helps! Main symptoms are brain fog, random joint and muscle pain (annoying but not terrible), a bad rash on my leg, burning feet in bed at night, burning itchy scalp, face, and neck (not as bad as hives, but sometimes distressing). Also makes me very sleepy on certain days, and not fit to drive-so I've started working at home mostly. In winter, I need one shot every three to four weeks. In spring/summer, not as often. Stay active! The dopamine and testosterone seem to counter the effects of the drug. Don't take this drug unless you seriously need it. It is a medicine of last resort."

"I'm getting my first Xolair shot today. Currently, I am covered in hives from head to toe, itching severely. My last hive outbreak was in June 2016, and they went away after 6 weeks on their own. I'm unresponsive to all the medication: prednisone, Zyrtec, ranitidine, Singulair, gabapentin (for itching), hydroxyzine, Benadryl. I take them all when I have a flare-up. I'm absolutely miserable and call my allergy specialist daily. This current flare-up has been going for a few days, and I had some Xolair waiting for me in the office since June. I'm excited that this may be the cure that I need to prevent this misery. Will keep you posted."

"I have been getting 2 injections once a month for almost two years now. Before the doctor diagnosed me as having chronic urticaria with angioedema, I went into anaphylactic shock 3 times in a month. Xolair has made a huge difference for me. I have not had any hives since I started getting Xolair injections. My big issue is my insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield of TN) requires me to go to a different office within a group in order for them to cover the cost of injections. Every time I have gone to this other office, I end up with a hard spot at the injection site with major bruising. It is very frustrating. Still outweighs the horrendous hives."
