Systane (ocular lubricant) "I’ve only used these drops a few times for my dry eyes, as the doc recommended, but what I find is they seem like they are just “sitting on top” of my eye without actually absorbing for a long time. Does not feel hydrating, more like irritating. I don’t have any problems with itching or burning, but they do seem to make my eyes blurrier after I put them in for quite a while, and my eyes will not focus as well. Last night, when I was driving home at night after using these about an hour prior to that, it was harder to see and the lights had more of a halo effect. I have had much better luck with simple artificial tear drops."

Refresh Optive Mega-3 (ocular lubricant) "What is in this product that can cause me such discomfort and adversely affect my vision? Two doctors recommended this, and the result has been devastating. I’m hoping this vision problem is only temporary. Do not use."

Lacrisert (ocular lubricant) "I have been using Lacriserts for 12 years. They are remarkable. So why have they stopped making them? Walgreens says they are the only provider, and they can no longer get them. Please let me know where I can get these."

Systane (ocular lubricant) "A year ago, I was given a small bottle sample of Systane for my dry eyes. But I seldom used it, and I observed most of the time my vision is blurry. Recently, after getting a pair of glasses, the optometrist prescribed Systane to me for dry eyes. So I finally bought a twin pack. Been using it on occasional days for 2 weeks and feeling a light burning sensation. On the 3rd week, I used it for 5 days in a row, and on the 3rd day, I started seeing 3-4 gray-black floaters in one eye. On the 5th day, I woke up with too many floaters plus a web-like sticky vision that moves whenever I move my eye from left to right. I went back to the optometrist and relayed about my floaters. She advised me to see an ophthalmologist ASAP. I even asked her maybe it was caused by Systane, and she said no, Systane doesn't cause floaters. But why did I get floaters suddenly after days of using Systane? Why are they prescribing this to people if it causes eye damage? I wish someone would investigate this product."

Systane Ultra (ocular lubricant) "Purchase Systane, and new bottles were half empty, and the label hides the half-filled bottle. It's very misleading. Will never buy again and will look for another brand since there are a lot of other options. No one likes to be fooled, no matter if it's effective. It's not that much better than other brands to justify getting deceived."

Systane (ocular lubricant) "I bought a two-pack of your new complete from my eye doctor, and I used it a few days. Each time, a bad burning in both eyes. Can't use it. I would like to make others aware of this product and for you to figure it out. I switched to TheraTears with no problems."

Refresh Optive Mega-3 (ocular lubricant) "I'm using Refresh Optive Mega-3 with flaxseed, and it helps immensely. So far, I haven't had any side effects. I was diagnosed with macular degeneration and dry eyes on Sept. 24, 2019, and have been using Refresh since that time."

Systane (ocular lubricant) "I only used Systane for 3 days for mild blepharitis. It caused blurriness and extremely pronounced puffiness under the eyes (with a red vein very pronounced). It also caused a migraine. Over-the-counter allergy pills seem to have a better effect on relieving most of the symptoms. Will not use it again."

Refresh Tears (ocular lubricant) "I've been using Blink for a number of years but now need to switch to a preservative-free eye drop. Systane was recommended, so I tried it, and my eyes became very irritated and watery as I added drops and the day wore on. Blink 'reset' my eyes. I am allergic to the active ingredients in Systane, so I began looking for a PF eye drop that had different active ingredients and found Refresh Tears. This was a much better fit for my eyes, and they feel much better. Just because your eyes react badly (allergy) to a particular brand doesn't mean they're bad eye drops, as stated by other reviewers; it just means they're not right for your eyes. The same is true with any medication. What is effective for one person may not be effective for another, even for the same condition."

FreshKote (ocular lubricant) "I have severe dry eyes due to radiation of the left eye. This is the ONLY eye drops that have really helped. I usually use them twice a day. If I do not, my eyes are very irritated. I am very disappointed because the pharmacy I use has discontinued stocking them because of the cost. Many of my friends have changed to FreshKote, they are worth the extra cost. My sight is worth the cost."

Systane (ocular lubricant) "Side effects horrific. Bloodshot eyes, pain, unbelievable itching that almost had my eye surgery canceled. Ophthalmologist claims it is because only the individual applicators are the only ones that are preservative-free, and that is what caused the adverse terrible effects. What was worse, the skin under my eyes was literally burnt to a crisp after using 1 week. Ultra, gel drops, and nighttime gel all caused the same terrible results. Read carefully what Alcon writes: preservative-free is only in the individual packets."

Oasis Tears (ocular lubricant) "3rd day of Oasis PF tears for dry eye. Dr gave me 2 packages of samples. 10 vials. 3rd day of using and no relief. Luckily I did not buy this. $25 is lot of money for product that not working and making me hurt more. I been using Oasis on left eye and another brand on right eye. Cheaper other brand has improved my right dry eye. Oasis nothing."

Systane (ocular lubricant) "Started using Systane Complete after the pharmacist recommended it to help with the sudden appearance of floaters. I made an appointment with an optometrist a week away. I started getting light streaks that night after two doses, but I didn't make the connection. Blurry vision as well. I thought it had something to do with the floaters. After a week, I had a complete retinal scan and eye test and was all clear. Nothing wrong. The floaters were normal. I mentioned the light streaks, and he said to keep watch for them, but he could see no reason for them. I did not mention I was using Systane. On a whim, I decided to look up the side effects. I was shocked and somewhat relieved that others had the same symptoms...light streaks and blurry vision. Sweet Jesus! This stuff is dangerous! I threw it out...and hope the light streaks stop."

Oasis Tears (ocular lubricant) "I only bought this ridiculous product because my doctor instructed me to use the drops prior to an eye surgery. Just about everything about Oasis is a bad deal. First of all, they are clearly overpriced. 30 little vials for almost $30. You would think that one would be enough to last one day. NOPE! Inside each tiny container, there are only a few drops. When you twist off the top, some of the product oozes out due to the internal pressure. Then when you put the cap back on, more will squeeze out if you don't do it right. Why can't they just package their artificial tears like every other normal company? I can buy Clear Eyes from Walmart for about $2, and the product is 100 times better. My recommendation: DO NOT BUY THIS RUBBISH!"

Systane Ultra (ocular lubricant) "I agree that the new dropper bottle for Systane Ultra is a problem. It leaks if not held upright all the time, which, for a bottle that size, is almost impossible to maintain. Sometimes squeezing the bottle produces no fluid, other times it seems to pour, running over and wasting product. Aiming the dispenser is also a problem. I asked why the change and was informed that the engineers thought it was a better dispenser. Maybe they should ask the consumers."

Systane Ultra Preservative Free (ocular lubricant) "What a miserable experience! Something that is this expensive and preservative free shouldn't cause such discomfort. It has been a nightmare. My eyes got swollen, irritated and the entire eye socket area became/is bright red. I still haven't recovered from it. It looks like I got punched in the eyes. I've tried many brands and drops before and NEVER had an experience like this. I'm taking them back and will never, ever buy this brand again."

Systane (ocular lubricant) "My eye doctor prescribed Systane for dry Eye, I started using the product right after my exam once a day and since then I had issues with my Eyes. Some kind of dizziness, sensitivity to light and some eventual blurry vision and pain on the back of my eyes, it came and go. Went back to the doctor at one week to check what was going on as I did not present any of those symptoms before the eye exam. The eye doctor said that I was not using the drops enough times a day!. So, I used them more!. But I started noticing that weird sensation in my eyes after I used them, like very heavy eyes that will last hours. So I started to decrease the use of the drops, and my eyes seem to be getting better but I still have the heaviness that comes from time to time. So I started to research because I have been dealing with this for almost a month and by reading this reviews I am almost sure it is the drops!. I am not using them anymore . Thank God it was not such a long time."

Systane Ultra (ocular lubricant) "I have macular degeneration and dry eye and have used Systane for years. I happened to pick up Systane Ultra the last time. The edge of my eyelids was constantly itchy. Thinking it was something I was allergic to since I had recently moved, I continued to use them. One morning, for whatever reason, I didn’t do my usual eye drop routine. Later that morning, I realized I wasn’t rubbing my eyes. My “aha moment”! I didn’t use the Ultra drops again!"

Systane Balance (ocular lubricant) "I have used this product with no problem, then I got pneumonia and wow, my eyes went ballistic. Red, inflamed, puffy, itchy, and I went to the doctor. He showed me a picture of eyes with problems like mine, and the cause was Systane. I was so shocked. It is really terrible."

Systane (ocular lubricant) "So glad I found this site. I have had dry eyes for years. I used different kinds of eye drops, but mostly Systane Ultra and gel. Three months ago, I had YAG laser treatment for post-cataract surgery. Ever since then, I had cloudy vision due to floaters. One month ago, we moved, and I only had the Systane Ultra on hand, not the gel. So I just used Ultra. The floaters started clearing up. Three days ago, I bought the gel and started using it. Now the floaters are back. I am going to trash all the Systane bottles and find something that won't affect my vision."

Systane (ocular lubricant) "Just picked a bottle of 'Complete' based on a doctor's recommendation. The bottle's in the trash after a second use. The eyes felt MUCH worse after use than before. Maybe the gel would be better, but with $10 up in smoke, it won't be Systane."

Refresh Plus (ocular lubricant) "I have had dry eyes for many years since 2018. I have narrow angle glaucoma and use glaucoma drops every night. I was using Hylo dry eye drops for a few years and my eyes were getting sore for no medical reason, so I chose Refresh Plus. It seems to work for my dry eyes. I use the single-use eye drops and the easy-to-use glaucoma night ones, but I found the single-use ones for Refresh Plus were harder to squeeze because I have neuropathy in my fingers. It's as if the plastic is too hard or thick. I always 'waste' the first drop of any single-use vials and then put one drop in each eye. I found that with Refresh, after that first drop, sometimes I had trouble with the second drop not coming out. Six weeks ago, I started to get sort of moving raindrops in my vision. This is under investigation, along with the floaters I already had. I doubt if it has anything to do with either eye drops, but I am searching for side effects of any eye drops or medications while waiting for a diagnosis. I am curious to read other reviews. *I never recommend meds."

Systane Balance (ocular lubricant) "Works great!!! Much better than the other Systane OTC brand drops because it contains mineral oil. A little pricey, but well worth it. One bottle lasts me months. My ophthalmologist prescribed this and Xiidra drops (Rx only) after he diagnosed me with dry eye disease (DED) caused by meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), which is actually the main cause of DED. I also use a microwavable eye heat mask daily and Ocusoft HypoChlor, which targets the main cause of DED. These combinations of treatments have highly improved my condition."

Systane (ocular lubricant) "Have used Systane Ultra for a few years and found it to be helpful for dry eyes. Since the nozzle of the dispenser has been changed to a flatter design, I find I'm wasting more than using it effectively, even though I follow the dispensing instructions. The drops don't dispense properly as they did with the longer nozzle, with the drops running down the side of the bottle and missing the eyes completely. Hopefully, this problem will be rectified by a change of design back to the original nozzle shape."
