For Opioid-Induced Constipation "Movantik works great for my opiate induced constipation. I'm so glad I tried it. I take it first thing in the morning and within an hour I go. I was worried about opiate withdrawal, but I didn't have issues with that. I wait an hour to take my opiate medication just to be safe and my pain meds still work well too."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "I’ve been on opioids for about 10 years and have always had problems going to the bathroom (constipation). My doctor gave me 25mg Movantik to take in the morning and it worked for me within an hour of taking it. It gave me horrible cramps so we’ve cut the dose to 12.5mg. I still cramp a little but that’s my only side effect. Some days I don’t go to the bathroom after taking Movantik but sometimes I don’t eat much due to pain. I will never go without Movantik. I feel so much better every day not being bloated and ‘backed up’."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "Do not try this medication I honestly thought I was going to die 2 hours in the toilet coming out both ends. My toilet looked like something out of a horror film. I literally felt like I was going to die. Being a female the cramps felt like labor contractions, worst pain of my life. This medication needs to be turned in to the FDA!!! Humans should not be their science pigs for this drug. Especially being that we are put on this because we are already in pain- this drug is like taking a death pill! Dangerous! Please stick to an over the counter medication for constipation, I would rather be constipated any day than go through what happened to me. I gave this medication 2 weeks and one night woke up with cramps like I was in labor!!"

For Constipation, Drug Induced "I have been on opioids for over 10 years and have always had a problem with constipation. I have used several over the counter stool softeners which rarely worked. I could sometimes go almost a week before having a bowel movement. I continue to live with this issue until my doctor recommended'Movantik. He provided me with samples which I started immediately. This drug is a miracle!! i have had a BM almost every day. I have not had any side effects and I feel great"

For Constipation, Drug Induced "I've been on opiates for many years because of lumbar scoliosis with multiple failed back surgeries. As of the last 5 or 6 months, my constipation worsened to the point where NO laxatives were effective. My bowels had almost stopped working. So far, after 3 weeks on Movantik, I have a regular BM almost every day. I do have to use a little Milk of Mag and a stool softener and eat oatmeal to help it along but, I am SO much better! I am grateful for this drug but it is VERY expensive. I had to make a choice on whether to stay unclogged or take a camping trip to Big Sur. I chose to be unclogged. Sad, I know but health comes first. Hopefully, I will get an authorization soon. I am not impressed with Obama Care ."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "My pain management doc has me on time release morphine for spinal injuries because other modalities have not worked. Of course, I have severe constipation. Was given samples of Movantik. I took one pill and within one half hour, had severe cramping and within one hour, total diarrhea. Also had some withdrawal symptoms. I waited a few days, became constipated again and thought I would try it again. Same effect again except this time, I am three days out from taking the Movantik and I am still experiencing withdrawal symptoms...nervousness, runny nose, anxiety, headache and nausea. I have reported the adverse reactions to my doc and will be reporting them to the FDA as well. I am a 67 year old male."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I have been dealing with chronic pain for over 5 years, in which I've had to take opioids on and off. After 3 failed surgeries in attempt to relieve my pain, I decided to see a pain management Dr. who has put me on a daily regimen of opiates. I've tried Amitiza, Linzess, and of course fiber, Miralax, laxatives and enemas. None of these have worked like Movantik. It's been truly a miracle drug. I take it first thing in the morning with my other meds and coffee, but I don't eat until an hour later as the directions say, and it works every time. I've never had diarrhea, horrible stomach cramps, nausea, etc. It just makes me have a large, normal and complete BM in the morning and that's it. It's been a life saver for me."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "This can be an extremely dangerous drug. My stomach still isn’t back to normal 10 days later and I wasn’t terribly constipated. I take magnesium which can be uncomfortable. This was the worst stomach pain imaginable. I didn’t call 911 because I knew that it would work itself out eventually and what could they do anyway. This was not withdrawal symptoms. I can see someone over dose from pain medication trying to cope with the movantik induced pain. I’m sure you can get a perforated stomach lining from the side effects. Mine stomach feels raw"

For Constipation, Drug Induced "Ive been in pain management for 6 years & serious constipation started 2 yrs ago. Linzess & Armitiza did not work. I was stuck using enemas and self manual removal. Awful - and takes time. I have drank 3 Magnesium Citrates with no BM! Movantik works but insurance won't pay. so I take 1 / week from the few samples I get. The pain that starts within an hour of Movantik is the worst I've experienced: doubled over at the gut: crying like it could be anER problem. But I am doubtful of ERs so I try to make myself comfortable at home while I empty for 5-24 hours. Bloated completely uncomfortable and must plan to do nothing until the BMs end. do feel a little withdrawal so I take meds. Movantik is my only option Wish it was more gentle."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I am never taking Movantik again. I'm sitting here with a heating pad and the air conditioning on, with a huge blanket on me and let me tell you it gave me the worst excruciating pain in my stomach. I myself have gone to the ER for lesser pain as well. This is out of this world kind of pain I thought I was going to throw my dose up. I almost puked on the nurse lol. I held that medicine down but I seriously wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy"

For Constipation, Chronic "This stuff is horrible!! I took 1 dose 25mg, within 30-40 minutes I started getting really gassy stomach really distended then the abdominal pain and cramping started it was the worst thing I have ever endured almost went to the hospital it was so incredibly bad. Sweating, yawning explosive diarrhea. After 24hrs the cramping and extreme pain have subsided significantly but still have a little. By 36hrs my stomach feels really bloated but most of the other side effects have subsided Thank God! I tell you that was the WORST experience I have ever endured, No One should take this toxic poison"

For Constipation, Drug Induced "I was surprised when I read all the comments about the side effects, I should have read this site before I took Movantik. I also though I was going to die, I had all the side effects listed here. I'm afraid to take it again. I'll try cutting the pill to a quarter and see if it works without the side effects.. I will keep you posted."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "This is crazy, today is my 4th day in a row to take movantik and no effects. On the first day I went to the bathroom and nothing since. No pain, no poop, no nothing! Weird huh. But I will tell you AFTER I had taken my first dose I started doing some reading on the med and OMGOSH I read some horror stories so immediately I prayed that the med would have no bad effect on me and It has not had one single pain or bad effect on me and its the fourth day so think all is good And although I've only pooped one time my bloating had subsided greatly, ooooh and bloating was a HUGE issue for me. I will update in a week or so. "

For Constipation, Drug Induced "The terrible withdrawal symptoms listed in most of these reviews are enough for me to skip the trip to doc and try Movantik. The way to go, at least for me (have fentanyl patch and breakthrough opioids for over 10 years). Get MIRALAX but buy the generic brand, you get 3 huge bottles for about $22 bucks. I didn't personally take Movantik, after reading these reviews I wanted to provide an option for all of you who go through the opioid induced constipation. It is sooo bad and hurts soo much. I take the generic MIRALAX, every day without fail. I also take the 100mg docusate (over the counter now) one at night and morning. It has worked very well and my constipation was soo bad. Of course check with your doc before using."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "I've been on opioids for severe neck, and back pain (post-surgical) for more than 10 years. My gastro tested me on several drugs for constipation without success. Movatik was the least expensive and actually created a serious BM* within an hour. *Unfortunately, I experienced severe cramping, sweating, lightheadedness, exhaustion during and 1 hour after. I won't take Movantik every day due to cramping, sweating, weakness, but I can endure the pain once a week. * In all fairness I started Oxygenated Magnesium 07 (magnesium oxide) from a health shop- 3 at night. Mag 07 gave me one BM every 3 days. If I take 4 Mag 07 at night I have a decent BM the next day. Nowhere as significant as Movantik - but NO cramping sweats, etc. Mag 07 may well have set the stage for success with Movantik. I'll stay with Mag 07 and Movantik only once a week. For me, this is a magic combination."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "After 5 years of severe constipation I bought Movantik $200 (my insurance might pay back and cover future costs if approved) and I took it the first day I had small, kinda wet BM. The next day I took it I had a normal bowel movement and it does not make me panicky or whatever except I get some abdominal pain and bloating that is mild and doesn't last short. I would give it 10/10 if it, as I hoped, flushed my colon out but this is still good. And it doesn't even push me to poop so if I as in a place with no toilet I could easily hold it."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "Tried OTC and nothing worked. This worked quickly for me and has now continued to work for 5 weeks. Have read this board re side effects of others, but that has not been my experience. Read the label and talk to your doc -- looks like overall the experience of bad side effects is rare for patients who try this med, but talk about it with your doc -- for me this has worked where nothing else did."

For Constipation, Chronic "My doctor is insisting I start taking this in spite of having NOOO problem AT ALL whatsoever with what I am taking now !! I have had OIC for 20 years. This Movantix has a huge risk of side effects. I take a dose of miralax and one stool softener ( ducosate CALCIUM ,NOT ducosate SODIUM ) and PROBLEM SOLVED for years!!!!! If I eat a lot of bread I take extra ducosate calcium pill. NO SIDE EFFECTS WHATSOEVER !!! Every time I see a TV commercial for all of these prescription laxatives I cringe. Why take meds with side effect worries??? My new doctor is adamant that I try this Movantik when I don't need to switch what works!!"

For Constipation, Drug Induced "I had been backed up literally for a year. Little drubs and drabs finally resorting to medical marijuana for pain, which did not work for my back pain, but somewhat stimulated my bowels not nearly as needed though just enough to break the agony. Was prescribed Movantik 25mg the first day I called 911 I thought something was severely wrong, it was the medicine doing it's job. after what seemed to be hours I was done until the next day and still pretty much the entire month. The 25mg was too strong so I take 12.5 It took a good month to finally adjust. Yes it hurt at first my bm was hard as a rock, but but after all is said and done I have a normal life, I can eat now too! Oh I am on 60 mg methadone 30mg hydro codons. Good Luck, it works."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "I have Raynaud's I have rheumethoid arthritis and I also have fibromyalgia therefore I'm prescribed opioids which everyone knows cause constipation. Movantiks is a life saver. Although it's says take one a day it's my belief it should only be taken when you can't go. Yes you will have cramps and sweating but ultimately this medicine works and I would recommend it to anyone."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "Not a Doctor... Long term Opioid use... on Movantik for over 18 months. Very dangerous RX! Start at smallest dose possible - my Doctor gave me ok to break in half even though pills are not scored. Recommend Philips Fiber gummies only & beware of stool softeners, if miss-managed they can lead to impaction So always take pills with plenty of water - plain water! After a year of use, I started to have periods of very high blood pressure, irregular heart beat, abdominal pressure / tightness stomach muscle spasms so severe I was taken to ER - where - after staring at me like I was on a bad drug trip - hooked me up to IV which only made things much worse. Later, after some yelling... a bright nurse injected me with Ativan. Not sure why but with-in 5 minutes everything subsided. I felt completely normal, maybe a little sleepy. The docs. Said well we got nothing so you might as well go home then see regular Doctor. Turns out Movantik is very dangerous! Use at your own risk."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "Ditto on every negative review I've read about this drug. I have had severe hemorrhoid swelling, burning and pain caused by the pressure of OIC. Although this drug was effective, the nightmare which preceded relief far outweigh ever taking this Big Pharma disaster. A mule couldn't tolerate this drug."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "Works well IF you are meticulous with instructions. My notes: Reliable if taken FIRST THING in the morning with nothing else and full glass of water. Don't eat or ingest for 1+ hrs. If you take a whole tablet after 3-5 days of no BM, expect 4+ bathroom events with 1 life-altering. Don't wait until 5 days have passed. Take a HALF pill every 2-3 days. Then two or three fairly normal events. It will not work as well if you take it later in the day and if you have eaten something that day expect only a 25% function. If you MUST take it later in the day wait for 3 hours after eating and don't eat for several hours. For me it causes slight physical withdrawal symptoms. Used discount card for $20 copay (online)."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I just got a script from my doctor for Movantik. I have been researching its side effects and have literally sat and read every one of these comments about this drug. Now I am scared to take it. What I have noticed while reading and investigating this drug is that it seems to work fine on people who are on oxycodone, oxycontin, etc. But it seems to give people who are on methadone a horrible experience. It sounds as if when Movantik is used with Methadone it causes reciprocated withdrawals. I have had a experience with reciprocated withdrawals and it was the most antagonizing experience ever. So I think I'll pass on this. Thank you all for commenting your experience with this drug. It has definitely helped me in my decision to not even try it."
