Mycophenolate mofetil "I was diagnosed with acute hepatitis on January 1, 2006, and was told I needed a liver transplant as soon as possible. I started Imuran shortly thereafter - no response - MELD climbed to 35. I went on CellCept and liver enzymes, etc. returned to normal range. Now on Prednisone and CellCept after a minor enzyme spike - enzymes are now normal. I still have my own liver."

"I have been on mycophenolate mofetil for 3 years after having a major reaction to Imuran. This drug, plus Budesonide, has my autoimmune hepatitis under control, and my liver functions are in the normal category."

"Front-line anesthesiologist with autoimmune hepatitis. Immune-competent enough to resist patient pathogens in the operating room, but Cellcept preventing my immune system from destroying my liver. Costs me $1,200/month before deductible."
