"I started to notice thinning in the front of my hair in my late 30's. Recently it was more than I wanted. So I went to a major pharmacy and retail chain and purchased the generic Rogain extra strength. For the first month there was no change. But I heard that it really doesn't start working until the second month of applying it to your scalp. Next week is officially month two. I applied Rogaine twice a day, once in the morning, and once before I went to bed. This last week I noticed more hair growth. It works. Granted it wasn't like I suddenly had the hair of a 15 year old boy. Where my hair was thinning it has grown in and the folicles appear thicker. I gave it a 7 out of ten, because the growth is not a huge amount, but there is some"

"It is effective - I noticed less hair in shower. But I had to stop because it makes my head itch and I end up loosing hair because either I am scratching or brushing. I must be sensitive to one of chemicals. I had the same problem with 2% solution. I have to look for other way to keep my hair - I envy those who can tolerate. :("

"I have used the topical on my receding hairline. Twice a day- within two weeks I got a horrible headache that lasted 3 days. Stopped treatment. Started again once a day this time. Same effect. About two weeks went by then got headache again. Stopped treatment. The second time, I used much less. Maybe a 1/2 Tbl total. I weigh 115lbs."

"I am so sad. I was a model and never took worth in how I looked. I had low self esteem from bad relationships and a bad childhood. So I took for granted my beauty. I started to loose my hair when I was 24. I then tried this at 27 . Before everyone thought I was 20 . I mean I looked so young for 27 facially..and this was even how old people thought I was when I had clear thinning hair. Literally everyone. I used this product out of desperation. It caused my very pretty face, which I took for granted, (just like we do hair), to age 7 years at least in 4 weeks. I got crows feet, deep lines. I look old. I used to get comments that I was pretty even when it was obvious to anyone I was loosing hair . Its really sad this isn't listed as a side effect. I have gone from being a model to this. Loosing hair is one confidence issue. Wow. It is a true side effect. I'm so sad"

"Rogaine works better than nothing. It works pretty well for the first 9 mos - 1 year and then it really slows down. It seems that the Rogaine hair falls out if you forget to use it for a few days, and then starts again as soon as you start using it again. They also have these stickers on the women's liquid boxes advertising a $10 or $25 refund. Don't believe it! They never pay and if you contact them about it, they say they will do it, but again never pay you the refund. Don't buy it based on the refund."

"If you're suffering with androgenic alopecia or another form of hair loss then DON'T DO THIS TO YOURSELF. I have been using minoxidil 5% (the active ingredient in Rogaine and all that's happened is I've lost too much money and too much hair. This is because I stopped using it for a week by accident and as a result my hairline shot up higher than it ever had, and when I read about how 2x a day isn't necessary I cut down my usage which resulted in another fairly immediate loss of hair. Now I have to style my hair in a specific way and even that doesn't adequately cover up my patches of baldness. This product has not grown a single new hair for me and is nothing but a scam. It was also proven to be as effective as rosemary oil in a study but without the side effects. I wish I had never bought this awful product."

"I had used for 2 weeks before visiting dermatologist. I had a horrible side effects - itching, dermatitis... my scalp was burning, drained. So bad. My Derm stopped it right away. Now I'm on Spironolactone over 2 weeks. Not much difference yet .. hope working."

"I noticed very minor recession and thinning on my temples and hairline so thought I would give Regaine a try to see if it would thicken it up a little. I didn't expect wonders but I certainly did not expect the result I got. My situation which was incredibly minor is now ridiculous. The areas I applied it are incredibly thin due to induced shedding which only stopped a year down the line. It's only shed in exact positions I applied minoxidiil. It also caused cysts which have left permanent bald spots. Please don't do this to yourself, it's not a safe medication the way it's marketed and even if you did respond well, it is a life sentence. Awful, awful drug with zero support as nobody understands the drug."

"Priced way too high and ineffective for me. I was buying 3 every month and a half for almost $30 a can. Switched to a generic 5% minoxidil foam a month and a half ago and still haven't finished the first bottle. 3 of the generic cans cost me $30 altogether. It smells better than rogaine, no pink tax. It lasts so long. Best of all I get better results. Do yourselves a favor and buy from the little guys."

"I had been losing my hair slowly for several years. I tried all kinds of alternative therapies, supplements and other nonsense, because I was afraid of trying Rogaine. None of those things helped at all. So I finally tried Rogaine after my hair stylist commented on how much hair fall I had each time I came in. I was really worried about scalp irritation, since I have sensitive skin. But I'm happy to say that I haven't had any irritation at all. I'm about 8 months in, and I have a ton of new growth. My hair is shoulder length, with the new growth being about 2-3 inches long. That looks a little funny, but I don't mind. The new hair is the same texture, color and quality as the existing hair. Rogaine has helped me keep my hair. If you try it, you need to give it 3-4 months before you'll see new hair growing. Stick with it. It works."

"I was in my fifties when my hair began thinning on my crown. I have been taking Rogaine for 4 months now. I saw no change for the 1st 2 months, but now the hair loss is no longer noticeable. No side effects.. Recommended for male pattern baldness... I am a customer for life."

"I stopped using Rogaine months ago after using it off and on for 7 years or so. I’ve been noticing scalp pain and tenderness off and on, especially after too much tension from for example, a braid that was too tight. I just realized after another painful experience last night that the tender areas are exactly where I was using Rogaine all that time. It literally hurt to touch my scalp and felt like I’d hit my head even though I hadn’t. There was no redness, no pink skin and everything looked fine. I'm certain that Rogaine is the cause of this."

"I read the instructions in the pamphlet that came with rogaine foam for women and I called to verify that you cannot use rogaine if you have a thyroid problem even if you are taking medication for it. I could not use it."
