"Female, middle aged. Some areas of my hair was slightly thin. My dermatologist suggested minoxidil. After doing my research about the chemical ingredients, I declined. Years later, I decided to try it. It burned my scalp, causing very dry itchy, flaky scalp with scabs. The areas around my hairline where I used it was much darker than the rest of my skin. I stopped using it then went back to it later. What a nightmare that was, as all the areas I used it became bald. I had to wear a wig....which I hate. A few years later my hair grew back, but not as healthy as it previously was. I saw the women minoxidil foam now available over the counter and decided to try it again. OMG, same disaster, with major hair loss in the areas where I used it. NEVER AGAIN!!! Now wearing wig again. Please explain somebody!!!!"

"This a warning to all the young guys out there, like myself. I had never experienced any issues with hair loss in my entire life until the lockdowns began and I contracted COVID-19. At the age of 27, my hair started thinning rapidly. I decided to use minoxidil as a first-line solution, and it turned out to be the worst idea I've ever had. Instead of improving my hair, minoxidil made it much worse. I went through a serious shedding phase that made my hair look ten times worse than when I started. I knew this shedding phase was normal, but the side effects of minoxidil were horrendous. Initially, I experienced a rapid heart rate at night and struggled to sleep. Although it never crossed my mind that minoxidil could be the cause, these symptoms persisted for months. I felt like I was having a panic attack, although it wasn't one. Furthermore, minoxidil caused me to have brain fog, dizziness, and depression. Thankfully, I didn't experience any sexual side effects. However, this medication aged me drastically. I developed numerous wrinkles when frowning, dark circles under my eyes, and facial bloating, none of which I had ever experienced before. I decided to stop taking minoxidil, and after just two days, I already feel much better. So, I caution all young guys to think twice before using minoxidil for hair loss. The potential side effects and negative outcomes may not be worth it."

"I was not able to stay on it long enough to benefit due to sudden collagen loss resulting in drastic wrinkles and soft saggy skin. I took it for 6 months, first topical but that caused a rash/burning/itching so they prescribed oral. I noticed the incredible change in skin elasticity around a month or two after starting the topical and it got bad fast - then I started the oral. My 20 year old skin may have recovered but my 40 year old skin I don't see it happening. There's a massive outcry against anyone mentioning this online in forums etc and I get it, it makes your hair grow so you don't want to hear it but I'd rather lose hair than age 10 years in 6 months. Who knows how bad it would get if I stayed on it. There's many many studies going back to the 80's proving that it negatively affects collagen so it's not imagined by any scope of the imagination. I've always had thinner skin to begin with so I think I saw the effects more than most."

"I am using this for thinning hair. I got side effect of severe hives, severe facial edema and pustular dermatitis of the scalp. It 10 days since onset and symptoms slowly going away. Hives are tiny fluid filled bumps that itch. Dr prescribed a steroid for the swelling. The steriod meds may have helped somewhat but my face especially around the eyes are still swollen. The scalp cleared fastest. First 3 days were horrible. The entire contact site was sore, swollen, oozed and formed a thick layer. The swelling literally traveled down my face starting at my hairline. Again stalling out around my eyes. Benedryl and ice application helps with the itching. Hives are central to my hands (front and back), forearms, face and ears. But it appears to be spreading to my neck. I was impressed with the results after 6 months of use so I decided to use a little bit more about half a dropper. After 3 weeks of increase the above happened. Going to a dermatologist next week to see if there is anything else I can do to speed up the healing process"

"I swear this stuff gave me anxiety attacks along with depression spells. I used it for 3 days; by the third day my resting heart rate was 112, up from 54. I had intense headaches and nausea. I couldn’t even stand up for long because I would get lightheaded. I don’t know if there’s a relation between my symptoms and Rogaine because according to their website Rogaine doesn’t cause these problems, but they did stop after just two days of discontinuing Rogaine."

I hope my experience is helpful I don't want anyone to get the same experience"

"I am a 24 year old female with PCOS related androgenic alopecia. My testosterone levels are normal and no high DHT still I lose hair like 200 strands daily. I was using 2% minoxidil and it lessens the loss whenever I use it but never stopped it. The doctor after my PRP session asked me to start 5% which I did and I have been patient but I really cannot do it anymore. Even my new baby hair is falling. They say ‘have faith’ with minoxidil but I am going back to my 2 %. Remember, start with 2% and if you can tolerate it then only start 5. It is not for me. I lost half the hair I grew back with lot of hope and care and pampering and money and time."

"I have been using minoxidil for 9 months now for my hair. Before I used it my hair was so thin that I was worried that am gonna go bald in future but after going through YouTube video I came to know about minoxidil in mid 2021. At first when I applied it on my scalp after a few weeks I started see lots of hair fall out which means its working and yeah I use 5% mino just once a day. Then after 3 months I started to see new thick hair growing back which really help me boost my confidence level and yeah sometimes I wish I have known about minoxidil earlier but still then am happy about the results. I guess the side effects for me using minoxidil is I think am getting some wrinkles on my forehead. How about you guys? Recently I started to take oral Finastride 1mg and am on 2nd month of taking it. I must say I have seen some shedding due to fin but am hoping to get a good results."

"Had thinning on my crown and hairline wasn't great but was manageable. If I pushed my hair back then you couldn't see any thinning. Now, right down the middle of my scalp theres a big bald patch and where it was thinner its now basically bald. Stay well clear of this drug. It also gave me contact dermatitis as it says can happen, and so I've had to get a medicinal shampoo. So I'm using medicinal shampoo and now have a big bald patch. So yep, definitely would not recommend."

Rogaine (minoxidil) "I stopped using Rogaine months ago after using it off and on for 7 years or so. I’ve been noticing scalp pain and tenderness off and on, especially after too much tension from for example, a braid that was too tight. I just realized after another painful experience last night that the tender areas are exactly where I was using Rogaine all that time. It literally hurt to touch my scalp and felt like I’d hit my head even though I hadn’t. There was no redness, no pink skin and everything looked fine. I'm certain that Rogaine is the cause of this."

"Started using minoxidil one dose per day in June. I am a 70-year-old male. Within three months I had good results over the entire top of my head, pretty amazing really. Now after about 6 or 7 months (Dec/Jan), I have started getting itching, and dandruff has become pronounced and irritating. I am going to try reducing the application to maybe every other day or two, I hope to see if the itching reduces but still retains the hair. I came to this site to see if anyone else reported the same issue as I am having and if a 'maintenance' dose can be reduced but still be effective."

"I has some hair loss happen from wrong meds and my hair was usually thick volumed and wavey. Even after the initial decrease of hair I still had wavey hair and not too showy receding white lines. Many doctors advised in using minoxdil /Rogaine. I kept on feeling scared to use it. And took my time. However after 10 really expensive doctors I thought I'd give it a try. I so wish I listened to that gut feeling being doubtful and scared. It completely ruined my hair. Kept falling all the time I used it and no growth and even after several years from stopping all the hair that fell and it hasn't grown back yet. All the places I used it on have wider extremely visible bald lines or spots. Shows u how much many Drs really care for your well being. It is all about profit. I urge you not use it. Use supplements do proper exercise. But don't use it please."

"I have stopped using it. The more I used it (the higher the dose) the more I had soreness at the site, but this didn't bother me much, but other symptoms did such as: loss of sex drive, palpations, Dizziness and light sensitivity, headaches, nausea, fatigue, digestive issues, weight gain, brain fog. Don't be vain in your 20s and dead in your 40s for this stuff. It never really did anything noticeable anyway!"

"My dermatologist prescribed this to help with my androgenetic alopecia, which I developed since I started using the Mirena IUD to treat heavy periods. However, in less than a month, I have not seen much improvement in my hair loss or hair growth. Instead, I have started feeling very angry, irritable, and depressed. I feel extremely tired, have low energy, feel weak, and confused, and have headaches and breast pain. This product has turned me into a depressed zombie, and I hate it. I do not recommend it. If you have naturally low blood pressure, do not take this product as it will mess you up badly."

"My hair loss started after several months of being infected with corona virus, I got severe hair loss which could not be treated with anything. I tried literally every herbal and oil's available but nothing seemed to be working. I then went to the doctor and prescribed minoxidil for me, at first two weeks I didn't notice any change but kept using it and after about a month, I was amazed that my hair loss suddenly stopped and noticed baby hairs growing back again"
