"I have only been on topical and oral minoxidil for about 30-60 days. So far, I've had less shedding in the shower and my hair is starting to look normal again. I will say that I had a glass (1) of wine on an empty stomach and wound up having a drop in my BP so much so that I fainted after walking to the bathroom. Scared me enough. Bad combination but I've never done that prior, and it was not pleasant, be careful with alcohol"

For High Blood Pressure "I have been prescribed this medicine because I have kidney disease with high blood pressure, and I'm not urinating much. I work, which keeps me on my feet, and it has caused fluid to build up terribly around my ankles, my legs, and my face, and my pressure is still high. Don't take this medicine, it's torture."

For High Blood Pressure "Fine hair growth. Have taken minoxidil for 39 years, and it controlled my hbp. Ten years ago, my Dr cut it in half and added atenolol. One year ago, atenolol was removed, and lisinopril was added. I have been hit with low BP to black out limit. They refuse my needs now. I feel death is near. My Dr. France Wong will not help but insists to go to ER."

For High Blood Pressure "I've been using this drug for over 6 years in combination with Clonidine. This drug works great, but the user needs to be very careful because it will increase your heart rate and needs to be used in combination with another drug. I currently have normal blood pressure after many years of high blood pressure."

For High Blood Pressure "I have taken this drug, minoxidil, for 42 years. At 40 years, my doctor added a water pill, which has helped a great deal in pressure swings. I do have an irregular heartbeat, thinking side effect. Wild hair growing is ugly, it has to be pulled or trimmed on a regular basis. For me, it worked."

"Works wonders. I had the gastric sleeve and wanted to prevent hair loss. I have the most beautiful head of hair I have ever had. So I never experienced hair loss after my surgery. I gained beautiful hair. I have NEVER had baby hairs until I started using. I’m on 2.5 for every other day. My eyelashes look fake. Brows wonderfully thick. Your body hair will definitely grow but I got a home laser treatment. I went off for almost a couple of months and ALL the new growth started falling off. I’m back on it now. So that’s the only downside. I’m on Wellbutrin, so I have no weight gain, if anything I eat way less. I absolutely recommend. It’s also super cheap without insurance. Major plus."

"I take oral minoxidil of 1 mg with dutasteride .4 mg. I am a woman post-menopause. It has taken a year for my hair to thicken some. It is still very thin in the areas where I lost my hair, which was from my ears down in the back of my head, but at least hair is there now. My hair does not grow fast and now grows about 1/8 inch a month, when it was always 1/2 inch or more each month. This combo pill makes me gain weight. What a horrible trade-off! I like taking a pill over topical use. I still recommend it because my scalp is not showing as much. I have asked my doctor to increase my dose to 2 mg minoxidil with .4 dutasteride, hoping to see my length return. I hope it does not increase the weight gain. So far, no effect on my pressure. I still have very little eyebrows and eyelashes. I used to take spironolactone, which had zero effect."

For High Blood Pressure "I’ve been on medication since April of 2022. This medication has lowered my bp. However, the hair growth is beyond scary! This medication will turn you into a WEREWOLVES!!!! Not taking any longer!"

For Alopecia "Oral minoxidil was a lifesaver. I'm female, postmenopausal, and started taking 2.5 mg tablets about 2.5 years ago. While a vast improvement over topical minoxidil, which left my hair greasy and like I hadn't shampooed it in weeks, I saw an improvement after about a month of using the oral minoxidil. Way less shedding, then almost no shedding, but not a lot of hair growth. I asked my doctor to increase my dosage to 5 mg a day, and then my hair growth took off! I don't understand why anyone is still using topical minoxidil nowadays. It is really ineffective for the overwhelming majority of people. After 3 years of oral minoxidil, I'm now shedding again and my hair is thinning, but I don't know if this is just because I'm in a temporary telogen phase or whether the tablets are no longer working as effectively as they have because my body has become inured. Would love to know other people's long-term experience with oral minoxidil."
