"Okay everyone I got the metronidazole pills for BV and was too afraid to take them. Terrified to the point I continued suffering and demanded my doctor get me the gel. Once I had the gel I was still very afraid and refused to take it, after a week symptoms I finally got the courage to take HALF a dose of the gel..felt fine. Tonight is night 2 and I took a FULL DOSE of the gel 3 hours ago..still completely fine. Please don’t let these reviews scare you people are so dramatic when it’s not needed. If you’re afraid I suggest inserting only a little bit see how you react then insert more 2 hours later or so..continue and so on and so fourth. Good luck ladies and again it’s not nearly as bad as everyone is saying I have ZERO SIDE EFFECTS forgot I even used it"

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I started getting BV when my partner unbeknown to me started cheating. We were together for a couple years during which I took the pills- they were hard to swallow and irritated my stomach even though they worked but it would come back. We broke up and I had other lovers having protected and unprotected sex and didn't develop BV with those partners. I got back with my old boyfriend and BV started up again; even though it's not classified as a STD, it seems through my research on different boards that men can spread it. Anyway, I started using the gel and despite the clumps of discharge it worked fantastically. My boyfriend and I always use protection and I do not allow him to practice oral on me either, since I've found that if he does this i will also get BV. Gel really does work though."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I started taking the metro gel a few days ago and have been hospitalized twice since for severe stomach pain and cramping, nausea and vomiting, sweating and breast discharge. This drug is horrible. None of the ER doctors put two and two together to find that my symptoms were a result of the gel. My own GYN doesn’t believe that the symptoms are related side effects but it says right on the package that these are ‘less common’ side effects. I just figured it out last night and now I’m trying to get it out of my system."

"I wanted to offer some good advice after all the negative reviews though I know everyone is different. I have had both the metronidazole tablets and gel for BV and have just finished the gel which I found far better than the tablets though they just kind of knocked me out a bit. The gel has been fine, it’s really easy to insert and doesn’t seem to fall back out like the self treatment gels. The smell was gone the first morning after treatment. I’ve had no thrush after stopping treatment which I assumed would be likely. I’ve had no ill side effects at all minus feeling pretty shattered for 1 day but can’t guarantee that’s the gel. I avoided starting the course for weeks after reading the reviews but got fed up with the effects of BV. I’d recommend the gel. I was ok on the tablets too but they definitely had more side effects than the gel, I was worn out and generally just low for the whole course of the pills."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I have had BV on and off for 30 years. Metrogel supp is not a good drug for me. It does not erase the odor. Ask for Clindamycin. You also have to do one week on and one week off. If you have recurrent infections you must continue to treat. Using an insert every 3 days is also helpful. I order meds from Mexico because doctors often tell me that it will go away. The odor is embarrassing and awful. Save your money on Metrogel. Its a waste of time."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "This drug seems to work for me and get rid of the symptoms of bv, the smell and the itch however the bv itself seems to come back so I think it clears the symptom but doesn't cure the problem in my body."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I've been battling BV off and on for 3 years now. I've used the gel now at least 5 times (once a night for 5 days) and I honestly have no idea why I keep going back to it. It never works for long (BV comes back right after period) and it always leaves a side effect worse than the BV. Right now I'm dealing with constipation and UTI side effects (but no UTI, was tested) and my last treatment was almost 2 months ago. Never again. I will try and maintain with probiotics and Rephresh from here on out. Stay away from metrogel!!!!"

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I, ladies! As most of us, I was prescribed MetroGel by my OB. After complaining of consistent BVs for the last 3 years, I have only used it for 2 nights so far, and I have a lot of discharge. Some with a hint of blood and at other times just a lot of clear discharge. I assume my vagina is flushing out all the bad bacteria. I have gotten up several times at work to use the restroom because of the discharge. Since reading so many of the reviews, I am just going to wait it out as this is my first time using MetroGel."

"When I got bv, usually it went away on its own within 2-3 days. When it lasted for months I finally got the metrogel and after the first day, no more smell! Had zero side effects as well. I finally feel normal again!!"

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I have been having BV problems for a couple years after I had my babe. Took this for the first time this week. Looks like it helped with BV, but caused some pretty bad symptoms: headache, stomachache, nervousness, some discharge with blood, cramping, insomnia, and intestinal issues. Hopefully it does the job!"

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "Tried this gel for 1 night thinking it would have less side effects than in pill form. But I had a very bad experience. Within half an hour of using, my legs felt as if they were on fire mainly from my knees to feet.Got worse with aching, shooting pains up and down my legs.My head felt funny but no headache. All night I barely slept cos of the severity of the pain. The hotness did lessen, still had painful legs until mid morning, but it had spread to rest of body - a dull ache as if I had flu.Had slight blocked nose til morning as well.Felt slightly nauseous. Was itchy too all over.Felt spaced out.Suffered memory loss in day before all went away. Will not take again as am allergic to antibiotics so is probably just me.BV did feel bit better though."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "Have been using the actual GEL for two days and I'm fine. A little burning and mild diarrhea at most but that is it. I FOLLOWED the directions, if you follow the directions, you should be fine. It CLEARLY states not to have sex while using the medication."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I was honestly scared to try this medication with all the reviews I’ve read. I had little to no side effects. My side effects were just a little bit of cramping and discharge with a little blood. Symptoms were noticeably better. Just stay away from alcohol."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I am angry at the negative reviews that misled me and had me afraid to use the gel. I am on my 3rd night and have not had a bad experience YET. Only thing I noticed was a slight cramp (barely noticeable), slightly metallic taste in mouth, and a little clumpy white discharge the next day (vagina cleansing itself out from the medicine working…not yeast infection). No burns, no nausea, no sickness, no loss of appetite, and no burning. I even skipped drinking wine/alcohol to make sure it didn’t increase side effects, although it’s less likely to happen with the gel vs the pill."

Nuvessa (metronidazole) "I’ve been dealing with BV and yeast my entire pregnancy. Not to be gross but it’s been so bad my discharge has been green. My doc recommended Nuvessa and I took it last week, the green is gone but now I’m itchy. I’ll see next week if the BV is gone or not. I pray it has, this has been nothing short of a nightmare."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I had BV and a yeast infection and had no idea. I noticed something was wrong because I completely stopped getting discharge, and I used to have fertile clear discharge, but I did not have it for months. After the first use, the BV smell was completely gone, and I could tell that my vagina was cleansing itself again. There was lots of discharge (white and clear). I feel better already. I'm also taking probiotics with it and will take a yeast infection antibiotic after I finish the gel. I eat healthy and try to stay very clean down there, so I'm not sure how I got it. But I've had it off and on over the past few years. 29 y/o."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I used this gel after being scared about reviews. I have lots of anxiety about certain meds due to side effects. I finally decided to give it a try. I had some side effects like minor stomach pain but I do have IBS. This was the only side effect I had. No nausea, no headaches, etc. I do have white clumpy discharge which is a common side effect to this med. Other than that I'm ok! I just finished the treatment yesterday. I will update once the white clumpy discharge will clear. Give this a try guys!"

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "I used the MetroGel vag gel for 5 nights as instructed. The smell went away for like a day or 2 but the discharge remained with its abnormal color (brownish). After having sex with my boyfriend, 2 nights after using the gel, the smell came back even worse. I was bloated and had awful pain and burning sensation in my lower abdomen. I honestly don't trust that this gel works. Instead I feel like it just made things even worse because I noticed there was some bleeding coming out as well."

"I have struggled with BV for YEARSSSSSSSS!!!!! I gave up on going to the Dr because everything they prescribed to me did not work! I finally decided to take back control of my health and my life and decided to go back to the Dr. I was prescribed the metronidazole gel .75%. Last night I did my first applicator full and my discharge and fishy odor is completely gone. I have decided to take two probiotics everyday to replenish the good bacteria in my body. So far so good. I will update after my 5 days are up"

"I was prescribed MetroGel for BV, took the medication for 5 days like it said and Sunday night was my last dose and that week end on Saturday I had a drink. I only had the one and I got sick that night. I figured that was just from the alcohol. But I woke up the next morning and felt nauseous. And through out the day, my nausea kept getting so much worse. I was running to the bathroom every 10-15mins to throw up. Tingly hands. Hot face. Dizzy. I had an idea it was because of the metronidazole, but all the forums I checked says wait at least 72 hours. For me, it seems the medicine was still in my system for 5 days. I thought I’d be fine but no. I wanted to share because I feel soooo sick & I wanted to complain but also let someone know. Do not drink, don’t risk it. It feels worse than a hangover. & to be safe I would wait a week before drinking. Don’t be like me."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "So last year I had my very first yeast infection, and bv. Recently I started eating a bunch of of probiotic since I didn’t want to have to keep taking antibiotic that were killing my good and bad bacteria. I had sex with my boyfriend and there was an odor that shouldn’t been there. So I went to the dr. She said we found a little amount of bv and the tiniest bit of yeast and gave me the gel . But I had told her the medicine I don’t react well to because it always puts me back with a yeast infection which I had no symptoms of it was just a odor now day two of taking gel my vagina is on fire from the yeast and now I’m actually suffering from something else now !"

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) "The first three days of this medicine was fine the fourth day I called off work. Felt like I had a head cold and dizziness the fifth day I was able to go to work but felt dizzy and no energy I’m glad this is my last day taking this medicine. Also noticed clumpy white discharge on the 3rd and 4th day. (feels like a yeast infection) but if it is after I’m done taking the last dose of this medicine I’ll go ahead and buy yeast infection medicine . Really don’t want to ever take this medicine again."
